This hotel is seemingly in the middle of nowhere and yet only four or five miles from Exeter City Centre. It is trully an extended Devon Longhouse and truly stunning. The Owner Brian attends reception and the bar, a charming gentleman, full of local knowledge after his 22 years here. No hi tech. Door keys, light switches and rooms that... More

A beautiful small thatched hotel on a country lane ,The surprisingly large double room was very comfortable with nice chairs and a separate changing room, We were made very welcome and the menu in the restaurant was very good. We would certainly recommend it and will stay again in the future

Chosen as a weekend break for us away from work and kids, this was a great location. Some may find the decor a little old fashioned but for what we wanted it was perfect as a base for the area with an excellent reputation for food. it was all brilliantly clean and tidy which is pretty important and very welcoming... This is absolutely not a boutique hotel. Nor is conveniently located for the M5. in addition, the wifi is perfectly adequate only if you stand next to the router and if you are in a rush the slow pace of the dinner service will drive you mad. Despite all that we loved this hotel. It is located in a lovely... More

A lovely hotel in a nice quiet location. The thing that makes this hotel so go is the food. It is fantastic value for money, cook by someone who knows what he's doing. I was very impressed and I am a chef. With home made bread rolls through to a fabulous chocolate tart. The service matched the food, which is... More

I stayed in this hotel during a business trip to Devon. I have to say it's absolutely wonderful. Flawless. Beautiful cottage, quiet settings, the restaurant serves superbe dinners and the owners are always very helpful and polite. I highly recommend it.

Can I just say please do not come and stay here if you don't like character and charm . Please stay in a travelodge instead . I can't abide people who complain about chintzy decor and uneven floors. The hotel is absolutely lovely in a beautiful part of the Devon countryside. We only stayed one night in the family room... More

We loved our stay in this small old fashioned hotel. It is set in a quiet hamlet within easy reach of Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor and the coast. The owners are charming and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and very comfortable and had everything we wanted - comfortable chairs to watch TV, tea making facilities and a... More

This is a lovely small-and-friendly hotel in a convenient location for stop- overs or longer stays in this part of Devon's countryside with its access to other major routes. I stayed here four years ago and wanted to return because I recalled the charming dining room, gorgeous food and that it has dog-friendly bedrooms opening onto a small patio. My... More

Made very welcome, a beautiful building, very cosy and rustic. Nothing was too much trouble. We asked for a double having booked a single, no problem at all. Would have liked to have tried the restaurant but the staff were doing a dinner nearby for a function. Next time then. Really nice relaxing stay.
