This is a very nice hotel, affordable, and centrally located. It is close to the University of Costa Rica main campus and other education centers. However, it is close to a busy road, so expect a bit of noise and traffic at peak hours of the day. Rooms are comfortable and basic. Gardens are very nice, with interesting sculptures and... More

Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. Lots of flowers and ceramics are on the grounds. The staff is very helpful in planning trips out of San Jose and they allow you to store luggage while you are gone. It is a nice location near the university, Pops ice cream store, and San Pedro Mall. Krakovia is a nice restaurant... More

Good morning sir. We think all this was a misunderstanding. The food and beer you are talking about was already open and started, and because another misunderstanding we thought you left your room and were not coming back. So we thought it was better to dispose the food. We really apologize for this. We even gave you 10000 colones to... More

The sculptured birds and tastefully landscaped grounds made studying for my Spanish classes actually enjoyable. The staff are particularly helpful. Kenneth helped me with my homework and Oscar planned excursions for my husband and his brother. We upgraded to the superior room because it included a hair dryer, but the hotel only owns two. However, the superior room also has... More

Pros: cleaner than most, spacious, decently well-equipped, friendly staff, comfortable beds. Cons: poor room lighting, poor internal decorations, prices don't include taxes, small TVs, small beds, rooms not very well ventilated (thus developing a funny smell, not too bothersome though).

The grounds were decorated with some fantastic sculptures when we recently stayed at the hotel. The combination of sculptures, the lovely murals and other art works gave the hotel a very special ambiance. The hotel's architecture and gardens made it even prettier. Oscar was especially helpful and friendly. The onsite Cafe was a great lunch and dinner spot, too. Very... More

Great place to stay, cozy, clean, friendly atmosphere, lots of helpful people around you. I felt like a piece of paradise in San Jose. Good breakfast and delicious coffee every morning included in the price of the room. Next door to the University, close to mall and restaurants. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in the... More

Located adjacent to the University and walking distance to a mall and several restaurant options. Rooms are surprisingly quiet. Staff were very helpful. Rooms are simple but clean. Breakfast was free and provided a nice assortment of options.

This is probably the best place to stay in the city. Adjacent to the University, like a tropical oasis in the heart of the city. Comfortable, cozy, great staff, beautiful, well maintained grounds, great food at the cafe next door (Krakovia, also run by members of the same family). I will definitely stay only here when coming to San Jose,... More

This hotel has a very laid back vibe and a lovely collection of quirky outdoor statues made of found materials welded together The Krakovia Cafe out front is owned and operated by the Adamski boys, sons of the owners and is a good quality cafe/restaurant with a full dinner menu and a college atmosphere given the University clientele

“The wifi is iffy. Strongly recommend the superior room which was $88 a night plus tax. Rooms farther back are probably quieter. Street noise usually bothers me, but it was not an issue in our room. I slept better than at home.”
