We stayed in Villa El Nido and Alila ...Both stunning with ridiculous views, and total feeling of seclusion.
The resort is in the mountains in North Bali, truly authentic, far away from the tourist madness in the south, but the villas are truly luxurious, wow. For what you pay it's unbelievable value for money.
The villas are spread out amongst the local communities in the hills, you hear the chickens and the local prayers. You feel you are really part of the local vibe. There are many different walks you can do in and around Sumberkima, we even walked to Pemuteran through the back roads (not easy) or the resort will arrange a shuttle to wherever you want. The 2 main pools on site and they gym are excellent.
The staff are great and attentive, you're left in peace but anything you want is instantly available over whatsapp communication.
The food was pretty good, they'll bring it to your villa, or you can visit one the 2 restaurants, both with great views. Maybe we would have liked more choice and bigger portions...But when you're in such a remote location you can't be picky about these things.
We're so glad we added this to our itinerary, it turned out be our favourite stop of our 3 week Bali trip.

I have traveled around the whole island of Bali, but Sumberkima Hill truely has the most beautiful view I have ever seen. From both infinity pools, the bedroom, shower and the roof you can see over the whole hill (from the roof even both sides).
The staff was always ready to help, whatever your question or problem may be. They radiate kindness, what made us immidiately feel like home.
The loft itself is spacious, without feeling empty due to it being nicely furnished and decorated. Also really clean, so there were no worries there. The bed seems to be floating because of the large space beneath it, what I thought was a nice touch. In addition they offer a great variaty of trips and romantic activities, for a reasonable price.
In conclusion, we really recommend!

The retreat: This place is beautiful. From the landscaping to the many different designs in villas and rooms, the reception, the yoga shala, the swimming pools, everything is thoughtfully placed and arranged. The whole place is stretched out over two valleys with equally stunning views from all the different spots.
The staff is lovely, extremely attentive, and friendly! Please tell them how great they are. They made us feel super welcome and at home.
The rooms: We stayed for 3 nights in one of the rooms near the reception. I absolutely loved the cooling concrete room, the massive window front with the modern touch. The room was really spacious, clean, and comfortable. The balcony is so big, it feels like an outside living room and the swinging bed is great to watch the sunrise in the morning. I was super happy to see that the room comes with a refillable water container (no PET bottles!), the coffee doesn't come in little plastic packed portions either, but in a refillable container and so does the soap and shampoo. Only criticism: The adjacent rooms are connected at the bathroom ends and when in the bathroom you can hear and follow the conversation in the neighboring room as the wall is poorly soundproofed. But luckily inside the room, you don't hear the neighbors.
The Restaurant: At the time of stay only one of the restaurants was open, due to the covid situation. The food was always fantastically presented. And the staff work clean (you can see into the kitchen) and quick. I was really hoping to be blown away. But the taste was, unfortunately, a bit of a hit and miss. Some dishes (Poke Bowl, grilled fish specials, and the Burger) were very tasty, and a great combination of foods. Others like the curry lacked in flavor and the biggest disappointment was the risotto: beige, bland, and with canned mushrooms. There are so many fresh mushrooms or dried mushrooms available in Bali - don't put canned mushrooms as your main ingredient on a dish, please. But I also do want to point out that the restaurant makes its own sourdough bread which is absolutely delicious and makes the continental breakfast (included in the room price) a winner!
Overall we really loved our stay at Sumberkima Hill retreat and we hope to have the chance to visit again soon. (Living in Labuanbajo, Flores, Komodo, this should be possible).

We stayed for the second time at the Sumberkima Hill Retreat which has reconfirmed itself as the winning choice for staying in this area. Here there are different types of accommodation, last time we stayed in a huge villa for 6 people and this time in a beautiful villa with bedroom, private pool and a beautiful living area. The price/quality ratio is perfect for us. The shared swimming pool is also very beautiful with a wow effect! Both restaurants are good, our favorite remains the Indonesian one where they make an exceptional soto ayam.

It's like a hideout, food in retreat was 4.5/10 and only international crusines can be ordered for room service which stops at 10pm. You have to stock up on food before arrival or can go to buy from nearby limited variety mini marts.
Villa itself is nice and view is great.
View 8/10. Dun based on what you see on IGs it's not 100% true but compare to many other resorts this have a better one.
Villa 8/10. Excellent design but lacks modern standards. Great for Europeans but for Asians you might not feel it's up to mark.
Food 5/10. Poor and limited selections. Consider its so out of place they should have much better food.
Amenities/Facilities 5/10. Only the pools that you would see in photo. View from pool looks great but other than that nothing much.
Accessibility 1/10. Impossible to walk out of resorts to outside world unless you dun mind tracking on unpaved roads for >30mins 1 way. Night time forget about getting out as there are too many roaming dog packs along the roads. Having a rental car is a must.
Nearby attractions.... the nearest lake I visited was 2.5hrs by car 1 way. Have not tried the day trips provided by resort so no comments on that.
Service from staff 9/10. They do provide great services.
Overall this is an amazing resort for honeymoon couples whom does not need to get out of bed or room for the whole duration of stay or for guest who love natural in its rarest form.
For guest who wants modern convince or likes to travel around you should know clearly this might not be suitable.

We stayed at Villa Felix for 6 nights. Originally we booked only 2 nights, then extended twice to end up staying for 6. Staff is extremely helpful on any request, the location is stunning and we had the chance to meet the owner of the villa who was also very friendly and helpful.
There are constructions works in the area of which we were warned in advance, but this bothered us little overall.
The villa helped us with arranging a motorbike, provided check-out services at the villa, and sent staff to help us carry our bags up to where our car was parked.

Oh, I love this place! We stayed at Felix Villa. This villa is amazing! It's clean, beautifully designed, had an amazing view! We stayed there initially for 2 nights but because the villa is so beautiful, clean & comfortable + we received a top notch hospitality service from the staff, we decided to extend u til 6 nights! Plus, during this time, the villa gave us an amazing discount due our extension. So it was a really good deal for that kind of place!
The villa is designed kinda industrial/wooden/minimalistic way - kinda of like my dream home 😊 it has a huge king bed, open bathroom (there's still sliding glass door), amazing kitchen & my favorite is the wooden sofa/swing facing to the communal infinity pool (but there's only 2 villa, including the felix villa that is located in front of the pool so for most of the time it feels like a private pool! (It was only on the last Friday we were there, there were more than 5 people in the pool area).
One of the top thing about this villa is the view! We can see mountains, ocean from the pool area 🌟 which was pretty amazing.
Plus i really love the efficiency of the service there! We can contact the restaurant/receptionist/ room manager whatsapp & a cell phone that they give us during our stay to contact them! Really efficient & helpful!
We also met the owner of the villa! He's really nice & friendly. We ended up hanging out with him.
Basically, this villa is a top notch recommended! Best experience i had in Bali!

Sumberkima hill retreat was such a delight. The staff there are incredible, beyond kind and so attentive. We enjoyed massages, stunning views from our villa, our own private pool and seating area. We had the choice to have our food delivered personally to our villa or a quick drive to the restaurants. Sumberkima hill retreat offers free shuttles ordered by a quick text on what’s app. We will definitely be coming back here for a longer stay as one week was just not enough! This retreat was the most beautiful experience, it felt like a dream. Sumberkima retreat also provides a transport service from Denpasar airport, which made it incredibly easy to plan our travels. There will be a free shuttle service to bring you to Pemuteran from June on. It will drive on a schedule. Also possible to use their taxi service idr 50.000 one way, you can bring your villa mobile when you need a pickup. Only a short 10 minutes drive. They also have scooters for rent, and an excellent restaurant on the retreat.
There are more places to choose from in the Sumberkima area.
