Loved my stays at the Executive Inn as the rooms are spacious, pools area is convenient and great after a day of work and being next door a club makes eating options convenient. The level of cleanliness of the rooms has varied, and consistent cleanliness would be nice but the front desk staff have been quick to resolve cleanliness problems with a room change and upgrade. Would recommend this hotel above most others in Newcastle as it offers such convenience and makes it easy to work and enjoy a bit of leisure time.

We stayed at this hotel after a horrible experience at another hotel. Upon check in the staff were nice
, we actually booked the wrong room and they were accomodating at short notice and upgraded our room. There is a beautiful spa and pool at the hotel. The rooms are good and clean. We got a knock at the door just after checking in with a bottle of wine to celebrate our marriage from a few weeks ago which was a lovely gesture. There is a onsite laundry where they supply washing powder. The hotel is connected to a club with lots of restaurants we went to the chop house which was 5 star. We would stay at this hotel again.

The Executive Inn Reception staff and housekeepers were top rate. The consideration shown to me was beyond what was given at any of the many motels where I have stayed. The Executive Inn's cleanliness is top rate - those port wine carpets are spotless and the rooms sparkling clean. All services in the Newcastle area are still under Covid restrictions, therefore the usual abundant choise of eating places was limited. Never the less there were enough to satisfy any visitor.

I have been coming to wests executive inn for years now and thd last 3 new years. It used to be a very well run place. Unfortunately wests have let the motel and parts of its club almost wither and die
Paid over $250 a night for king terrace room, bought a 6pack of beer to drink in the rooom. No bottle opener, rang reception and was told club has 1 only and they will come and open the bottle. I reminded them of the price of the room a nd the lady on the desk brought me one which i suspect was on her key ring. The outdoor hot spa is broken and taoed off, the main lift is broken. They have remodeled the bistro serving average fair at expensive prices. I had nachos $16 full bag corn chips squirt of Bolognese two small containers sour cream and what i think was guacamole. Club sandwich which was just an expensive toasted sandwich. Staff are tired and disinterested in service. What a sad place, needs an urgent upgrade it even looks like a gulag from Rugby Rd, wont be back ever.

We checked into the Executive Inn after a 6 hour journey from the far north coast after a trip away .. we are from the southern highlands which is not in the lock down area. When we checked in we were greeted by a rude young girl who told us we would not be allowed access to the restaurants as we were from ‘down that area’!! I explained we were not in the regions currently locked down ( and certainly would not have been that stupid to have travelled) and follow the same requirements as Newcastle. As all guests we completed a Stat dec to say we had not been in greater Sydney region etc or hotspot areas. I later called the club manger Claude who was the rudest person I’d ever spoken to and refused to explain why they are making up their own rules.. he went onto explain that any person from the central coast down is refused entry .The website on the west’s group only states NSW government regulations which we do not fall under. After checking in the hotel and calling reception they then said they allowed us in as we will be staying in our room and not using the facilities, this was not communicated at the time of checking in. We basically paid for a quarantine hotel and not warned of this. We had no other choice but to order room service for dinner as it was late and the food was over priced and terrible. This hotel makes their own rules and does not follow the NSW government regulations. They should have told us at the time of check in that we cannot use ANY facilities and not just the restaurant. Don’t think of staying here if your from the central coast down as you will not be allowed any use of the facilities and be treated like your doing something wrong. Yet still required to pay. The staff especially Claude (club manager) needs training on customer service.

We were in the Hunter Valley for a couple of days doing our bit for the struggling regional tourism economy and restocking our wine cellar at the same time. We had planned to stay some nights in Pokolbin and the final night in Newcastle and had booked some time ago knowing the weekend would naturally be busy. Less than 24 hours before we were due to check in at the executive inn we were contacted by them to advise us they were canceling our reservation because we were from Sydney! Even the other states are letting Sydney residents in, but not the Executive Inn (and no, we were not from an area affected by the clusters). Absolutely disgraceful customer service which forced us to spend double to find a last minute alternative (as every other hotel was accepting guests from Sydney but were booked out). If you are thinking about booking here don’t, because you are just as likely to be told on arrival that your booking is canceled, and with no justification.

I stayed at the Executive Inn hotel for one night. I had the less resting night ever. I woke up at 4:45 am with the alarm clock from the bedroom next to mine went off, and there was no one there. The alarm clock did not stop. I had to ring the reception for someone to turn it off. When I could fell asleep again, the TV from my living room turned on at 6 am, so I woke up again, and just realised that it was in my room when I got up. I believe the staff needs to check if the room appliances and gadgets are set to turn on automatically. Despite the bad sleep, the room was good.

Very conveniently located for Newcastle Private and John Hunter hospitals.
Well furnished, clean and comfortable rooms, well maintained with all the usual amenities of Australian motels, except a microwave. Secure parking is free in a well-lit covered carpark with lift access to guest rooms.
The hotel’s outstanding feature is the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the housekeeping and reception staff. Their concern for guests who were supporting family in hospital was much appreciated.
Meals are available from the leagues club adjoining the hotel, in the bistro and specialty restaurants till 8.30pm. Room service is available in limited hours. After 8.30pm a small snack bar offers take away meals. There is a pub and a Thai restaurant within easy walking distance.
Bookings for hospital visitors are extremely flexible, allowing cancellation at short notice and the hotel offers a small “hospital” discount. Even so, it’s not a cheap long-term option but the welcome, the comfort, convenience and security made it the best for me.

I was there for 2 nights for work.
A really horrible meal at Wests club - which is attached to the accommodation.

COLD SHOWERS

The first morning I couldn't get any hot water. After trying for 15 minutes, I called reception who explained 'it is wheelchair room, so naturally it is cooler!"

I explained to her that people in wheel chairs don't want ice cold showers either.

So I washed my hair in ice cold shower and raced to my job without breakfast because no time left.

Next night I was assured it was fixed. But again, Ice cold morning shower!

NO MANAGER

No compensation, reduction was offered so I asked to speak to the manager. But it was a little after 5pm so SHE had left and couldn't be contacted!

Stuff happens, I get that. But a hot shower is a basic, and a bit if service to me, some reduction, would have helped a lot

We were 2 adults, a 17 yr and a 15 yr old occupying a room at the Executive inn Newcastle. For 4 people we were given 2 bath towels, one each of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower cap etc. The milk for coffee/tea was not enough, two packets of biscuits. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the complimentary items and expected a bit more. The beds were uncomfortable too.

Gosh I am not sure! We traveled by train and went into the city only to realize we had gone too far. So that is all we know of the area. We did go to Black Butt reserve and loved it! That was walking distance for us, who like to walk. The animals there were fantastic and up close! It was a highlight of the whole trip to Australia! Have fun! Lisa
