As soon as we arrived at Spicy Oasis, we knew we'd made the right choice. My partner and myself needed a weekend away from it all! The location is beautiful and the Mediterrenean style villas are situated right beside a big lake and are gorgeous.
The area is also quite flat and offers great bush walks right from your Villa which can be hard to find in the mountains. We were very well looked after by Erina and found the villas to be spotless clean. We will be back again as soon as we can :)

We came here 3 months ago and enjoyed the stay. The cabins were nicely presented with a different theme and had furniture and orniments based on this. We made our way into the rain forest and had a relaxing walk. There are turtles in the pond, cows in the meadows, ducks in the dam and cute kelpies on the other side of the property.

My grandma turned 93 last week and to celebrate the wonderful achievement we went up the mountains! There was lots to do nearby and the people we met whilst out and about were very friendly. I recommend this place to anyone looking to have a nice quiet trip away with loved ones.

Kind regards,
Mathew.

We arrived at Spicy Oasis at approximately 4.45pm the person in charge met us at the gate and stated ? The room is not ready yet I have to mop the floor, can you wait for about 15minutes?? [The website states that the rooms are available from 2.30pm]

At the property entrance there is a gate with a sign saying OFFICE in front of a house with much clutter on the verandah and two barking dogs.

The person went inside a reappeared with a new mop head and steered us through a paddock gate and then a boundary opening that was secured by an electric fence.

We waited while she mopped the floor and arranged some chairs at the front of the unit.

During this time we strolled around towards the next villas being approximately 20metres away to find dirty rooms stacked high inside with furniture and boxes [see photographs].

The grounds surrounding the accommodation were ridden with weeds, cattle dung and generally unkept. The external, white, walls of the villa on offer to us were dirty with cobwebs, bird droppings and muddy paw prints.

Although the person in charge showed us the room we were to occupy and it appeared tidy on glancing in. the surroundings that we had seen in such close proximity were too distasteful to consider staying at this accommodation.

When we advised the person of our decision she stated 'I am all alone and I try to do my best'.
We left and called Agoda.
This situation is obviously a gross misrepresentation of the advertised product.

The fee charged was, by any stretch of the imagination inappropriate and exorbitant..

We called Agoda the booking agency on Friday 31st October at approximately 5pm QLD time to discuss the fact that the accommodation at Spicy Oasis was far from an acceptable standard. We were advised to forward photographs.
We were never reimbursed and Agoda was far from helpful.

Response from SpicyOasis_12, General Manager at Spicy Oasis
Responded 21 Oct 2015
I am very sorry these guests didn't enjoy their brief visit to Spicy Oasis and I would like to take the opportunity to clarify some points. The guests estimated their arrival at 6pm, but actually arrived about a couple of hours earlier. The reason why I asked them if it is okay to mop the veranda floor is because we are surrounded by national park and being a Land for Wildlife, we have a lot of birds and other animals living on the property and they tend to mess the area up a little. That's why I like to give the veranda a quick once over just before the guests arrive. It doesn't take more than a couple of minutes. Once the guests live in the cottage, the birds and other creature do not come to mess the veranda any more. While I was mopping the veranda these guests went to have a look at the other cottage, which is about 25 metres away and completely separated and covered from their intended cottage by a garden with mature trees and thick vegetation. I didn't know or authorise that they go to inspect the other cottage and later I was surprised by this as they had no way of knowing no one was staying there and that they are not interfering with someone's privacy. It just happens that at this time of the year we are very quiet as this is our off peak season and no one was booked to that cottage for a few weeks, which is the reason why it was not in 100% readiness for the guests. There would be no point having the veranda of the unoccupied cottage clean and ready because it takes just a few visits from the birds over a couple of hours to put their droppings on the tiled floor. On top of this I just dropped off the laundry basket, the ironing board and the cleaning supplies at the unoccupied cottage as seen on the pictures and started cleaning the walls and the floors there. Inside, this cottage too, was clean and tidy. When I found the guests and asked them if I can help them with moving their bags in they informed them that they are not going to stay and that they are leaving. They refused to even have a look at the cottage I have prepared for them that day. But they must have seen just enough because as they say in their review, their cottage was indeed clean and tidy. I tried to talk to the guests, offered to do whatever it takes to make their stay pleasant, but they refused to communicate with me. I understand that the total fee for the whole weekend, which is $396 (including the late check out) is a considerable amount of money, but majority of that is just to cover our fees. Up to 20% of that is the booking fee we have to pay to the business directory. Another 10% gst. Each directory charges several hundreds of dollars yearly membership fee, we have to spend thousands on insurances. Of course we all pay our income taxes. The rest of the money is spend on cleaning, laundry, replacement of worn and damaged linen and furniture, electricity, water, gas, maintenance and repairs. The price also includes a generous platter of hand made organic chocolate truffles and petit fours, large basket of organic seasonal fruit, a bottle of sparkling wine as well as breakfast supplies, selection of coffees, teas cereals and fruit juices and basic cooking ingredients and unlimited firewood. Finally I would like to take an opportunity to apologise to the guests, but I feel that we haven't done anything wrong as their villa was in perfect shape for their visit.

We enjoyed our stay so much that I wanted to live there forever! The rural property was delightful, as was the Spanish/Moroccan style villa overlooking the garden and small lake. Irena, the owner, was so generous with her Czechoslovakian Christmas biscuits, which were hand made and all organic. She has a real talent there. Good ground coffee, tea and cereals were provided in the kitchen for breakfast. We enjoyed the grounds with lovely Brahman cows grazing next door and enjoyed a walk in the nearby rain-forest. It was so peaceful. Irena is a terrific host, who was always very helpful with information about the area. We stayed 3 nights and had the most delightful and relaxing time and look forward to returning one day. Thank you, Irena, for such a lovely experience.

Hi friend
I thank you for your hospitality when I visited the country. The villa was very nice and relaxing and the scenery was pleasant. I hope I can stay here again one day when my company network in Brisbane. Please tell the massage lady again that I loved it.

I came here with my family and the cabins were awesome. I'd recommend this place to anybody with kids as there's lots of things to do both on the property and the surrounding area. My brother went swimming in the lake and was really enjoying himself.

My wife and I spent two nights in the "Seductive Saffron" villa just before christmas. We really enjoyed our stay at Spicy Oasis, the owners went out of their way to organise champagne and strawberry's for my birthday on my wifes request. The home made chocolates were a nice surprise on arrival, the room was beautifully decorated with a spanish theme and the room had everything we needed including basic breakfast.

The location is far enough out of Maleny to be nice and quiet but close enough to town to enjoy the local restaurants. We missed the driveway to the property on our first attempt thanks to our GPS but found the driveway marker on our way back. They could really use a sign out the front to make finding them easier but it wasn't really a drama.

We would like to have stayed longer so that we could take advantage of some of the services on offer such as a massage but we didn't get time. We would definately recommend Spicy Oasis for couples and honeymooners although there is a larger villa that could accomodate a family.

Overall we thought it was a great weekend away.

My company and colleagues stayed here for a few nights. They went out of their way to help us by organising travel from the airport and to where we had to go. We are happy and thankful as the service exceeded our expectations. Thx.
