We stopped for a snack and the staff were very helpful in suggesting we shared a crab sandwich as we weren't very hungry. The crab was delicious and the brown bread was "doorstep" size - lettuce and coleslaw too.

We stopped off here after a long walk with our three (large) dogs to find we could take our dogs into the bar area for breakfast. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast itself was excellent and very reasonably priced. So impressed were we that we then reserved a table for two evenings in the week to eat here. Again...

We spent a couple of nights at the inn. The place is very friendly, welcomes dogs and has good staff. If narrow country lanes freak you out don't go. if you want a classic Devon pub hidden from the rest of the world with great countryside and seaside on the doorstep give it a try.

You wouldn't stumble upon the pretty village of Branscombe. It is off the beaten track and the roads that lead to it are very narrow, mostly one vehicle wide. I hear that in the summer the roads can be gridlocked at times! For me it benefits from this leaving an extremely quaint village very quiet. The Masons Arms was equally...

Second visit after a coupe of years. The bathrooms have had a major overhaul and are top notch. As we have a dog we stay in one of the cottage rooms-I would not want to stay in one of these rooms if I did not have a dog! Think different carpets would be easier to keep clean of the hair....

We stayed here for a weekend break. This is a characterful hotel in a beautiful setting and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and accommodating and did all they could to make our stay pleasurable. Our room, in one of the top cottages, was stylish and comfortable. If you like to relax on the beach or walk to the top of a cliff, enjoy rabbits and other wild animal running around, this is you place. Masons Arms is really tipical, the life of the town, good food, good ambiance, and after a long day walking, nothing better than a bath and a drink next to an open...

Surroundings and staff were delightful. Welcomed politely and shown our table, that we were advised to book when calling the day before. Service was quick. Village and pub well off the beaten track, but worth the trip down the narrow lanes. Accidently took wrong turning and ended up at the beach, so had to come back. But we will go...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
