My dog and I stayed three nights over Christmas. Dogs are very welcome, with certain rooms reserved for those who wish to bring dogs with them; they are also welcome in the large Bar area, where all meals may be taken. The charge of £10 a night seems the norm, but excessive. While we were very happy with the room...

Absolutely brilliant two nights over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our first Christmas away so a little apprehensive but everything was just great. Nice traditional pub with open fires and excellent food. Would recommend for any special occasion, a romantic break or just a get away.

What terrific value the Christmas menus at the Masons Arms. Three courses of delicious food followed by coffe and mince pie. Excellent service. Couldn't have been better. Even the table napkins were lovely, and really good crackers. Well done Masons Arms.

Visited here whilst staying with friends in Lyme Regis. Very cosy country pub in a most beautiful village setting with quick access to Branscombe Beach. Everyone's food was superb. Service was good considering how busy the pub and kitchen were. Steak & Kidney Pudding was probably the best I have had and the deserts were fabulous too. Really happy that...

We had visited the pub before for lunch when we lived in the area. It's a lovely walk to here from Beer, just along the coast. You can build up an appetite, then walk off your lunch on the return journey! We decided to do an over-nighter as we were in the West Country for business. Received the usual warm...

Stayed in a classic room for one night. Some of the accommodation involves quite a few steps, but this did not prove a problem for my elderly father. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Bed was excellent coupled with a quiet location resulted in a very good nights sleep. All products of a high quality including linens, towels and...

We stopped for a snack and the staff were very helpful in suggesting we shared a crab sandwich as we weren't very hungry. The crab was delicious and the brown bread was "doorstep" size - lettuce and coleslaw too.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
