I visited Matilda last month with my wife. We always enjoy the beautiful art throughout this hotel. We were informed about the famous chef Olvera who took the reins of the restaurant this year so we were excited to hear such news and we decided to have dinner that night. My wife and I try to visit the Pujol in...

Dear Doug: Thank you for giving us an opportunity to address our restaurant, and Chef Olvera’s involvement. Moxi was never meant to be a second “Pujol” – it is a distinct restaurant in its own right. As I’m sure you know, celebrity Chefs like Enrique Olvera, who have several restaurants, simply can’t be in two places at once. He created...

The hotel is overrated and overdone. Details give the feeling of lacking hospitality and are disturbing such as the water bottles that are next to the sink that cost an extra of 4 Dollars (Room price $350), the continental breakfast is very limited. Staff is friendly but there is no "mexican spirit" - the management should create a more positive...

We were sorry to hear that your recent visit didn’t meet your expectations. Since Hotel Matilda was just named the #2 hotel in Mexico by the sophisticated readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, we clearly work hard to please our guests – and we are generally very successful at doing so. All guest comments are important to us, and we...

If you are in San Miguel Allende and you look out for a relaxing time you have to go to Hotel Matilda. Nice rooms, quiet, excellent service, great food, nice pool. The hotel is like a oasis in the busy center of the old town. Spa, Restaurant, Bar, Living room, open fireplaces. It is a bit pricy, but worth the...

This is the best fine dining in San Miguel de Allende! Beautiful setting for dinner. Also Lupita in the spa gave me the a true deep tissue massage (rare!) and knew my body better than I do. She is a healer!

We’re so glad you took advantage of both our Spa and Moxi restaurant during your stay. If you can join us in November, we’re planning a wonderful Day of the Dead celebration, with a special dinner by visiting chef Martha Ortiz. And of course we have some terrific spa specials, too. I went with a couple of friends for some spa treats last weekend. The hotel is very elegant, but the spa is just incredible! A cocoon of minimalist beauty and tranquility where you will be treated like a queen (or king). We started with the Hammam steam-aromatherapy, a very cleansing and relaxing experience. We then went for massages and were...

I couldn't stay away. Visited the hotel first as part of an architecture tour (the art collection is to die for), stopped the next day for cocktails with a friend (enjoy margs on the patio) and third day spent 2.5 hours at the spa (ask for Esther - she's a Spa Goddess). While we stayed nearby at a private house...

We’re always happy to entertain visitors who drop in for drinks, relax in our spa and enjoy our art collection. In fact, we’re preparing to install some new art in the Bar that will be unlike anything else you’ve seen at Hotel Matilda – but of course, that’s part of the fun! We love to surprise people. Come back soon...

Matilda is nice, modern, clean and peaceful. But... $450 a night??? Is it worth it? Me and my wife didn't think so. The room has nothing special.
