We stayed here for one night on the way from Mt Gambier to Adelaide. It was delightful. Two friendly sheep welcomed us when we arrived. There were many beautiful horses in the adjoining paddock at the back. My room looked onto a lovely garden and there was a wooden, solid timber bench just outside the room, for me to sit on while the dogs explored the garden. The room with ensuite bathroom was very clean, the room had complimentary tea and coffee with lots of milk in the fridge. As we were not very hungry, we ordered hamburgers and soup in the tavern, which is about 150 metres from the accommodation. The place was packed with local farmers and workers. This gave the place a really good atmosphere. One of my companions said that the scene looked like something out of a Hollywood movie. The hamburgers were gigantic in size and tasted brilliant. The minestrone soup was home cooked and the best ever, packed with vegetables. Their dessert menu was also very interesting, as was the main menu, which included a giant steak for $50, something I would have loved to try. I woke up in the morning feeling totally relaxed. I was sorry to leave such an idyllic place in the middle of nowhere, I would thoroughly recommend a stay here if you love the countryside and having new experiences.

Very good pub food, good country atmosphere and tall tales.
Dropped in here for lunch with the family as it was recommended to us and we were not disappointed.
When you walk into a pub and there are blokes at the bar sharing fishing stories you know you're in a good place. Frequented by locals, people travelling down to the coast who know where to go and hungry folks just passing through this pub has everything you could want and more.
Tasty seafood, yummy schnitzel and a juicy pulled pork roll got the job done for us and the wood-fired pizza looked delicious.
Friendly staff and genuine country hospitality seal the deal.

Looking for a break in travel during COVID-19, knowing my fav spot at my destination is closed, I came across this gem. I had a basic room which was clean, well presented & a fantastic air-conditioner. For tea I collected a wood-fired oven cooked pizza, which with a glass of red went down a treat. Def will return, cheers Andy & Sandy.

Very affordable and full of country charm. Comfortable beds with heating and air conditioning. Share toilet, bathroom and kitchenette. Nice and peaceful, close to south east attractions. Food in the hotel was decent, usual pub grub, lots of home made salads on the salad bar.

We stayed at Willalooka Tavern on our way to Murray Bridge for a stay on a houseboat.
The rooms are very basic but clean all you really need for an overnight stay. A continental breakfast was available for free (cereal and toast) and the cost of a double room per night was $80.00 (very reasonable). There is an adjoining tavern where we had a very nice meal. Limited menu but reasonably large serving. Very friendly owners and obviously a busy place with the locals.

We decided to stop overnight last Friday, rather than drive through roo country in the dark. The dining room at the Tavern was packed with happy, friendly locals...a good sign! We settled into our room as we waited for our meal to be cooked. What a surprise! The room was furnished in simple furniture with a lovely fresh and modern doona. The bathroom was spacious and spotless. We appreciated the toaster...didnt need the microwave, but others might. The room faced away from the Tavern, looking out over paddocks, very quiet...There was even a bench on the verandah to sit and enjoy the view.
We returned to the Tavern to enjoy a beautifully cooked scotch fillet. Others were enjoying Coffin Bay oysters, King George Whiting or speccy looking pizza. Our meal was $28 each and our room $90...extremely good value...

Twin room one night $95, Bed was hard - both of us woke up sore, smoke detector was missing - just a hole in the ceiling, no lamp shade, blind was very dusty with 7 dead flies on windowsill, aircon nosy, cobble stones outside on way to toilet uneven a trip hazzard, no breakfast available or milk in the fridge in kitchenette plus neighbours very noisy.

That's what the bar man told me when I congratulated him on the great food, hospitality and minimum of fuss process to get a beer, red wine, food and a smile. Accommodation is inexpensive, and basic, so ideal if you have had a few beers, just stay over, and leave the next day.

I stopped here on the recommendation of the staff at Balnaves Winery. Great recommendation! The Accommodation is basic. The room I had was not en suite, and hardly off-suite for that matter. But I couldn’t have cared less. The rooms were clean tidy and the bed very comfortable.
It was steak night so I went for the ribeye, medium rare. Good steak well cooked with great crinkle cut chips and a salad bar that simple but again tasted great.

Everything you need when traveling .Nice cosy room very clean with continental breakfast .Suitable for children as is a grassed area for running around.
We ate in the Willooka Tavern which had a good choice of meals .Friday night is pizza night and was very poplular.
I would recommend this stop over for any age group. They offer cooked breakfast, takeaway and mini supermarket for any needs that are required .

Sorry i just saw this, my answer may be too late! Bathroom was a few metres from rooms...no problem. We stayed in room with bathroom that faced away from the Tavern..had no noise problem on a busy Friday night at Tavern. You may like to book for a table...but not really necessary. For us one night was all that we needed...but if you wanted to make it a base to explore the region, it would be an inexpensive and pleasant option Cheers! Robyn
