This is a type of guesthouse you will remember for long time. Especially because of very friendly staff and cosy studios. We spent 2 nights in a studio with bathroom, kitchen equipments, fridge and quite good wifi. There is not much to do in the closest neighbourhood but definitely it is good to drop in when in travel. The host...

This is a sport hotel, for skiing and tracking, Tennis and other sports. The standard is simpler than you might expect for a high class hotel. We found it to suit our requirements. Nice room, good beds, Room was clean and ok. I really did appriciate the attitude of the receptionist, arriving at 00:30 in the night, with our dogs,...

On our way from Oslo to Stavanger we stopped here for one night. We almost had the place to ourselves. Extremely friendly and helpfull staff. Very cosy indoor areas with fireplaces etc. We were not impressed with dinner or breakfast, but I guess there aren't any alternatives in the area.

Stayed here on our trip to Norway - very nice quiet place. Enjoyed having the window open and could hear the sheep from the neighboring farm area - very peaceful. The heated floor in the bathroom I'm sure would be nice when it's cold, but when we were there is was warmer - the bathroom was like a sauna. LOL...

It's the only game in town in Morgedal, so you have no other choice. It's hard to date the hotel as it's obviously been updated a number of times. It was clean, but certain parts of the hotel are dated. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is pricey for a basic three course meal, but the service...

We stayed one night at Morgedal hotell. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our rooms were ready and waiting when we arrived. The decor is certainly a blast from the past, and parts of the hotel look rather worn (the elevators and bathrooms among others), but everything is clean and seems well cared for. Dinner and breakfast were fine,...

We were wery well recieved. Got a room on ground floor with separate exit as we had our dog. Well organized. Very nice staff. We arrived after lunchtime, but no problem getting a good meal in the nice dining area. Had the dinner buffet in the evening, and the food was very nice. Fresh, homemmade and very tastey. Good selection...

We arrived late and needed travel on already the next day. The receptionist made sure that the transportation was safeguarded. Very good service! Then we had a good three course dinner and a good night's sleep in the small, old-fashioned rooms. Just next to the hotel is the Morgedal Ski Museum, that is very interesting.

Several Very enjoyable stays with capital V. The room and facilities are great, (including a lovely pool), the food is hearty and the breakfast buffet was spectacular, but what struck us the most was the overwhelmingly friendly staff. Everything from the topping up your coffe at the table to, pointing out the lokal sights in the valley from the windows...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to a tradition rich hotel with a wonderful atmosphere, known for its team of local, friendly staff and great food. Heated with clean, green energy since 2005, Morgedal Hotel also has the honour of being the first hotel in Norway to use a bio energy plant for all its heating requirements including the large indoor pool. No small achievement, especially considering winter temperatures can drop to as low as 25 degrees below zero! The hotel is located on a sunny hill side which doubles as a ski slope in the winter. Guests enjoy peaceful views of the lake and the famous northern hills of Morgedal – home to ski legends, Sondre Norheim and Olav Bjaaland to name just two. Positioned almost halfway between the east and west coasts, the hotel provides an excellent resting place on the journey along the E134 - and as such makes a great base for your visit to Telemark and Southern Norway ... more   less
