The view is breathtaking and the staff were all super helpful and friendly. We had a bit of a cleaning mishap when we checked in but unlike some other reviews here, the staff sortied out asap and were really nice about it which we appreciated. The 1 bedroom apartment was comfortable and spacious with nice towels and plenty of spare pillows/blankets etc. The view from the bath is NEXT LEVEL! I love that there's bath salts provided for your sore bushwalking muscles!

There's storage for your luggage, hooks for towels and the bathroom is gorgeous and very spacious. There were plenty of cups/plates/cutlery etc and the couch, porch, bbq were all made for a comfortable stay.

Disliked ·
It would have been handy if there were basics in the room like paper towel, bench spray and cling wrap. If you're planning on using the BBQ or kitchen bring basics like oil, salt/pepper, cling wrap or containers and stuff to clean up afterward because there's none in the room .

The beds are pretty "firm" and are two king singles trussed together. The view from bed will knock your socks off tho!

The neighbours upstairs were a bit noisy which kills the vibe but the bedroom is pretty well sound proofed so you still get a good sleep if you shut the louvres in the room :)

There's very limited wifi and the DVD player isn't connected to the TV. If you get reception you can hot spot from your phone to watch netflix etc.

There were quite a few stairs down to our room as described in the listing.

I don’t think it would comfortably sleep 5 people as advertised but for two it was perfect. If you have people on the foldout, they'll have to go into the master bedroom to use the loo and its super loud so… be warned!

I notice lots of people weren't happy with the tea house. It's not a fancy restaurant, its like bar food in a small town which is what we expected so we were happy enough.

You can get a nice fancy dinner 15 mins down the road at the Hazelwood Estates and we went to the Flying Bean for breaky every day which was 10/10 food.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at the Binna Burra Sky Lodges. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the breathtaking views and found our staff to be helpful and friendly. We are also pleased to know that you found the 1 bedroom apartment to be comfortable and spacious with plenty of amenities. We appreciate your comments about the lack of basic items in the room and will take this into consideration for future improvements. We have taken note of your comments and we will investigate ways to improve these services for our guests. Thank you for your feedback regarding the tea house. We understand that it may not meet everyone's expectations, but we are glad that you enjoyed your meals there. We appreciate your recommendation of nearby restaurants for other guests to consider. My friend and I stayed at Sky Lodges in late November 2021 as part of a weeks walking with Auswalk. We hiked from O’Reilly’s on a damp day (it had been pouring the night before), and arrived at Binna Burra footsore and damp. At checkin we discovered that our luggage had not been transferred because of car troubles (it arrived 2 hours later), so we were provided with free drinks with our dinner (which was included in our package). The young man who delivered our luggage returned to drive us down to the tea house for dinner, and drove us back later - very welcome after about 23 kms on the trail
The sky lodge (101A) was a 1 bedroom apartment with a very luxurious bathroom, and tub with a great view (but not on a rainy/misty/cloudy day). It was wonderful to soak my weary body while waiting for the luggage.
Unlike other reviews we had great experiences of the tea house staff and food. We had breakfast, dinner and hiker’s lunches from them and found the food wonderful - very large servings. Service was also quite fast and very friendly.
My only reservation about the location is if you are without a car while there (hiking in/out, transfers etc) it can be quite tiring and trying having to walk 800 odd metres from lodges to tea house and back for meals (up and down hill) on top of the other walking you are likely doing. It is also very dark once away from the lodges so make sure you have a torch for the walk.
Enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed in the Sky Houses. Fabulous views, comfortable good size room with small balcony, coffee pod machine, good size bathroom, fireplace. We were there for 3 nights and after 2 nights towels were refreshed, coffee capsules topped up , bins emptied. Very good. These buildings survived the 2019 bushfires, they have some years on them but are still good value. We managed to get in on a promotion that included evening meals, what a bonus! Walks in this area can be demanding, we did the Caves circuit 7km and the Pools circuit also 7 km. We are classified as seniors and managed it ok but there are lots of steep descents and steps followed by equally steep ascents so be warned. Plenty of wildlife around, we saw 4 friendly and harmless pythons (sleeping mostly) and a bonus echidna, to say nothing of the fabulous bird life.

Hi Kym! Thanks so much - Your review has put a big smile on our faces. It's fantastic to hear that you found the room comfortable and well-equipped, with the coffee pod machine, spacious bathroom, and our cozy fireplace for those chilly nights. Our dedicated housekeeping team always goes the extra mile, so we're thrilled that they refreshed your towels, restocked the coffee capsules, and took care of the bins promptly. We aim to provide top-notch service to ensure your comfort throughout your entire stay. How awesome that you managed to snag the promotion that included evening meals! We're thrilled we could offer you that bonus treat. We believe in going above and beyond to create a delightful experience for our guests. We totally understand that some of the bushwalks in Woonoongoora can be a bit challenging, especially for our wise and wonderful seniors like yourselves. The Caves circuit and the Gwongoorool Pools circuit offer stunning sights but also demand a bit of effort with steep descents and ascents. Your tips are valuable to fellow travelers, so they know what to expect and can plan accordingly. The abundance of wildlife surrounding the Sky Lodges is truly something special. It warms our hearts to hear that you had close encounters with four friendly and harmless pythons (mostly snoozing, of course) and even had the privilege of spotting an echidna. Thank you again for sharing your positive review. We're honoured to have had the opportunity to host you and create unforgettable memories. When your travels bring you back to this corner of Australia, we'll be here with open arms, ready to provide another exceptional stay at the Sky Houses. Cheers, Leighton Pitcher Sales and Marketing Manager

Very dissatisfied with trip, stayed 4 nights in a sky lodge , not cheap, booked ,the a week later got an email saying that if you stayed 4nights there was 40% off , that was about $800 saving, when I rang they said that is for next month, I said we could have come then, they didn’t care, then when we got in , I went to heat up my wheat bag in microwave and this is what I found when I open the door it was filthy there was a lolly papers underneath the coffee table the carpet wasn’t vacuumed properly and a dirty tissue was in the wardrobe.
I rang and complained they seem to not even care they sent someone down to clean the oven that was it.
The food at the Teehouse ? we booked for a two course meal every night and the food was pub food in edible would never go back ,lovely place ,but the staff there don’t seem to care I guess they’re here today ,gone tomorrow
I have owned restaurants and been in hospitality and the service hospitality was disgraceful

Hi Lisa, It is disappointing to read your comments and feedback on your recent visit. As explained the discounted rate that you are referring to was advertised for a different and smaller room type than what you had booked for, and was only available during certain quieter times of the year. Binna Burra had on multiple occasions offered to transfer the dates of your reservation to make use of this promotion and to refund any additional monies paid.

I rate the facility at a half less than one. I booked on the latevevenong of the 8th for the 9th through what was shown to be thier site only to find when I tried to cancel the next morning at 8a.m after a 5am attempt I was told it had gone through booking.com and would have to go through them for a refund. This I am told by PayPal is an unauthorized payment. When I rangbthe Lodge the first timebi was hung up upon by thier operator so I rang back with a different attitude and demanded a refund for 2 reasons first my partner was in hospital on the 9th unfortunantly and as stated earlier the unauthorized payment to booking.com the payment was unauthorized because inwas of the opinion the payment was going directly to the Binna Burra Lodge. Which I was also told by thier operator it should have gone to. I suggest when dealing with them you check who you are actually paying before you hit the go button. Luckily for me I paid through PayPal and should be able to get my refund although it may take a couple of weeks. As far as the site I went there yesterday and rode past to find it fairly run down compared to others up there.
I certainly as a local to the coast will not be returning..
Thanks.

Responded 10 June 2021
Hi Clint, I've checked with the team involved, and as explained numerous times, you booked via booking.com, who are an online travel agency. Your quarrel with the cancellation and refund terms rests with booking.com. Binna Burra would not receive any payment for your booking until after you had stayed, which you did not. Our team glady followed this up with a manager at booking.com as we suggested for you to do, and they were more than happy to refund the amount to you instantly after hearing the circumstances of your booking. We do agree with you that you should always check who you are actually paying when purchasing anything online. You can tell this by simply checking the website URL of the page that you're on when booking accommodation. It was clear that you were on the booking.com website, not the binnaburralodge.com.au website. We're sorry to hear you won't be staying with us due to your unfortunate experience with booking.com, but sadly this is one that is out of our control. Thank you,

The sky lodges are luxury with spectacular views. They are very well appointed and provide everything you might need to be self-sufficient. If you want to be completely self-sufficient, bring your own groceries, they have everything for cooking in the rooms. The rooms are very beautifully designed and have very nice amenities including a television and a very large patio deck. The Cottage has a wonderful bar with a fireplace and an outdoor fire pit with beautiful views. Be sure to get an evening drink there and you can even buy simple prepared dishes at the cottage. In the evening after dark look on the lawn in front of the cottage for Pandemelon, a small kangaroo. The Tea House restaurant was very good as well. All of our meals were top-notch with great coffee, and the staff are very friendly. The hiking from the lodge is world class as is the birding. If you are a hiker, be sure to give yourself a couple of days to get out on the trails.

This place is still so magical.
I haven’t been back to stay overnight since the fire but have walked the trails lots since. It always makes me feel so sad to think that the lovely cedar cabins and the communal dining area are no more.
It’s still special and I loved the walkers’ pub but I’m so worried it’s going to lose it’s Scout camp charm and just become another overpriced O’Reillys full of tourists.
It was disappointing to find that the only option in the tearooms for dinner was a minimum two course meal.
The camp site was lovely (although there was a bright light shining into my tent all night long) and we met some lovely people around the camp fire.
Please keep it low key and affordable ❤️

Dear Britscribbler, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay with us. We appreciate your kind words about the beauty of the area and the experience you had while on the trails. We understand your concerns about the changes since the fire, and we are working hard to maintain the character and charm that has made Binna Burra a special place for so many. Our focus is to rebuild and restore the lodge while keeping in mind the history and legacy of the location. We appreciate your feedback and want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that Binna Burra retains its unique character and charm. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work hard to keep Binna Burra a special and affordable place for all. Thank you for your support and we hope to welcome you back soon. Best regards,

A few teething problems - Went to Grooms cottage, decent wine selection though no shiraz available. The real disappointment was the nearby Tea House which offers a mobile wood fired pizza oven but only until 6pm!! After 6pm no hot food is available.. Went to cook food in our apartment and the stove wasn't working. Staff couldn't offer much help to fix it.

2 nights at the Sky lodges, that were very nice I would say around 7/7.5 out of 10. What ruined it for me was the request to have a late check out and be told that would be $45. I spend $1100 for less than 48 hours stay and you have the cheek to charge for a later check out. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world, and late check outs are given for free, anyone who spends over a $1000 with my company I would gladly give a discount or something extra. Not the way to win friends and get great reviews, for this reason you get a very average review. Note your staff were however 100% in the service they gave.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay at Binna Burra Sky Lodges. We are glad to hear that you found the lodges to be very nice and that our staff provided you with excellent service. However, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our policy on late check-outs. We understand that some hotels provide late check-outs for free, but unfortunately, due to the high demand for our lodges, we have to adhere to a strict check-in and check-out policy. Late check-outs require additional time for cleaning and preparation for the next guests, which is why we have a fee for this service. We apologize if this policy caused any inconvenience to you. We value your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our services. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Binna Burra in the future. We stayed for two nights in the idyllic Binna Burra Skylodges. The views of the forest from the balconies are just incredible.
The lodges are so comfortable and spacious, a real treat after a month travelling through Australia!
Sometimes you really get to see the true colours of a place when you have a problem and you see how they react.
On our first night we had very, very noisy neighbours above us that ruined the tranquility of the place. Not Binna Burras fault, they were sold a pup. People booked it for four I guess but let's just say a lot of extra bodies turned up. The noise level was high because the people had no manners, no consideration and absolutely no class.
When we told the hotel the next morning they were so apologetic and couldn't do enough to help us. They were great, they approached the horrible people and warned them and moved us to a new room. I was really impressed with how they handled it and how quickly they acted. I feel sorry for the hotel as they take such orders in what they are doing and just cannot anticipate that people book a lodge for two couples and then in the dark of night move in a load more people and make noisexeith no thiught for others.
Anyway, we had a truly lovely stay. There are gorgeous hike around and the cafe does really good food. The lodges have great kitchens too so you can cook and eat in.
I could not recommend this wonderful place any higher.
