There can be no question in my mind that this is a very special place. Decor and slickness have improved steadily over the years and the quality of cooking is magnificent. On the odd occasion I have had the 'Menu gastronomique' but usually one of the set menus is more than good enough. Madame, chef and sommelier make a fine...

No words can express the quality of food wine and service at the Hostellerie .Although I have reviewed before on a number of occasions and voted as my best restaurant ever visited .It is now the combination of the rooms and dinner which I am reviewing - we had the all inclusive room, dinner, wine and breakfast ( which was excellent...

We have been visiting the Hostellerie de la Riviere for many years, since M Martin senior was in charge. Now that Dominique is cooking the style is different but still delicious. Last night I ate the best raspberry souffle I have ever had. The service is delightful, the breakfast delicious and all home-made, with beautifully light croissants and pastries. We...

I have been staying at the Hostellerie de la Riviere for almost 20 years now and it has been a pleasure to see its evolution as the baton has passed down the family line. Dominque is undoubtedly his father son and cooks with an eye to detail and with seemingly divine inspiration. The menu is varied and always top notch...

We have just returned from our second visit to this hostellerie. We were so delighted with it the first time that we asked four friends to join us this time and once again our delightful hosts excelled themselves. Ok, the place is not cheap and we all ate from the gastronomique menu but it was quite superb. Dominique truly is...

We thought they might be exaggerating when we arrived and were informed only one table left for dinner but indeed there was. All local French diners. Nice relaxed Atmosphere and excellent food .not the cheapest but worth it for a treat. Chef patron and his wife are excellent hosts. Only grumble is bedroom is very small and there didn't seem...

We have stayed at this restaurant with rooms several times when collecting our wine from Calais and it just gets better! The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. The restaurant is wonderful, I love fish which is the main feature but my husband who doesn't eat fish, had a steak that melted in the mouth - I tasted it...

This was a lovely surprise. The rooms are small but clean and modern. The staff are attentive and friendly and the food is fantastic. Dinner is not cheap but then you are paying for genuine quality and we both enjoyed our breakfast in the morning. The weather was good so spent a bit of time reading in the garden at...

We picked the hotel for its location near the channel ports but not actually in either Calais or Bolougne. The hotel owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was one of the better ones we have had in France (fresh fruit salad, selection of breads and pastries and cooked eggs...
