Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Kore Tulum Retreat and Spa Resort has received a mixed bag of feedback from guests. While the resort's room sizes and sunbed availability are often appreciated, many visitors have raised concerns about its value, pointing to unmet expectations due to misleading advertising, subpar food and beverage options, and hidden extra costs. Service quality appears to fluctuate, with reports of both commendable attentiveness and frustratingly slow responses.
Room conditions are frequently criticized for leaks, uncleanliness, and poor maintenance. Additionally, cleanliness standards seem to vary, with some guests satisfied and others disappointed by inconsistent upkeep and amenities.

Detailed Reviews
We chose this hotel because of the beautiful grounds, the location and the value. I guess not having a 'beach' lowers the price but after a few trips to the Mayan Riviera we have found swimming in the ocean is not usually possible so why pay for a beach when you can't use it anyway? The view and sounds of the ocean were fabulous.
Plenty of soft beach towels, cabanas and lounge chairs. We never had a problem finding a spot in either the sun or shade depending on what we wanted. Serving staff were friendly, attentive and made sure we had the best time. Special shout outs to Noemy (sp?), Lucia and Alan for their contributions to our week!
The fit and finish of the buildings and rooms were fantastic. Really lovely designs, materials and attention to detail. Very clean and well kept. Quality of the food and beverages were very good. We never ate off resort.
The Master Suite is completely understated on their website... FABULOUS suite which is basically two of their standard hotel rooms in size with TWO FULL bathrooms, large living room completely isolated from the bedroom by a heavy door and more space than we could actually use. I'm a diver that gets up at 5am and travels with a lot of gear and full underwater camera rig. I had more than enough space as a work area to lay out and assemble my equipment while my girlfriend slept soundly. The second full bathroom and kitchenette is off the living room so I could get ready every morning without disturbing her in the slightest. Best suite we've ever had in 8 trips to the Caribbean and being at some of the finest resorts. I think this has absolutely spoiled us from here on out.
I don't think we could have found a better place for our Tulum vacation with our friends. Thank you to the staff and management that made this a wonderful week.

We loved our stay at kore! The room was bigger than expected and we got a view of the ocean even though our room was called a garden view. The staff was wonderful across the board. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating.
The food was great! My friend and I are vegan and the cooks were able to make accommodate our needs. We got creative and asked for our meals without meat or cheese and we never faced any trouble.
We biked to the beach club everyday (7 minute bike) and we also hung out by the pool as well. The staff came by often to check if we needed anything.
The front desk staff was so nice and helpful with questions about the town and restaurants. The bikes are so convenient and are available until 6pm at no cost.
We also happened to be staying at kore during Super Bowl Sunday. Although I was not interested in watching, the staff did throw a super bowl party. It was outdoors with tons of snacks and drinks and four screens playing the game!
Overall amazing and we will definitely be returning.

This was my 3rd stay at Kore Tulum. The hotel sits on a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. There are palapas that each have about 8 beautiful large rooms with comfortable beds with many amenities that are not available at some of the other eco Tulum resorts such as great electric and hair dryers. The food is very good. Special thanks to Alain with entertainment who adds lots of fun through out the day. The Galleria is the place for coffee, snacks and cocktails with the most wonderful bartender Sergio. He is a beautiful Mayan man who prepares fabulous drinks and snacks. Also some nice tequila and mescal. I cannot wait to go back in a couple of weeks for my girls trip! Everyone at the resort was wonderful from reception to all bartenders and servers. Please keep in mind this is not big resort all inclusive. There are bikes that you can take to the local beach which is about 8 minutes away. They also have a relationship with a beach club.

We stayed here for 4 nights in March. We booked (and paid) for 7 nights but left as soon as we could re-arrange alternative accommodation. I wish I had read the reviews of this place before going. It is a rundown hotel which desperately needs upgraded to resemble anything like their website. The food was inedible. The wine was awful. Even though this is an all inclusive we ended up paying to eat outside the hotel as we were concerned about the lack of hygiene in the hotel kitchen. The rooms are dated; the gym equipment was old and unclean; the hotel bar (where you could get wifi) was like an airport lounge from the '80's; 3 toilets in the restaurant and spa were all out of order for our whole stay. There has been no investment in the maintenance of this hotel and the attitude of the manager was appalling. When we checked out early he tried to force us to sign a form to declare that 'we had enjoyed our stay'. Needless to say, we refused to sign it.

My Birthday Vacation at Kore Resort Tulum was not a good experience. I'll start of with the room ; it was a very nice room until the first night it smelled like mildew we called the front desk and they sent someone that came with a spray bottle and sprayed the room which lasted for about 40 minutes. The second night we came in from the beach and the room smelled like sewage called and they sent a guy with the spray bottle again and that was the room problem. We basically starved the whole trip because the food was terrible, sitting at breakfast everything was cold except for the nasty eggs and pancakes. How can you be in a restaurant and order your food and it comes out cold, I'll tell you how because everything was precooked and warmed when it was ordered, that should've not been the cause because the resort wasn't no way near full I didn't see no more than 12 people at breakfast lunch nor dinner so the food could've been cooked to order. I ate only when we left the resort and on Birthday it rained some we didn't go of the resort I was so hungry I went to the main lobby and begging the lady to find somewhere I can order food from and she found i pizza place that delivered and I ordered pizza (she saved me )on my way bay to the room I walked past a couple and they asked was that pizza I said yes and told them how I ordered it and they went and did the same .For this to be an All Inclusive Resort their was no liquor in the room only water and soda . I felt like I paid my money and was totally cheated besides the beautiful resort and room and staff, everything else was bad .With all this being said their weren't anyone to try to accommodate us i talk to the manager on staff and he said he will talk to the chef but next meal was the same . I hope the people that was complaining with us wrote a letter as well. I Don't know if anyone will read this letter about my experience or doing anything about it but this is not the way to treat people, I'm a travel agent and have stayed at many resorts around the world and Kore has been the worst experience...

The service was terrible; hotel staff was incredibly rude and borderline aggressive with myself and my family. The shower had three drops of cold water on any given morning and they charged about 18$ per day for internet access in my room! ... I didn't realize we were back in 2002 all of a sudden. Overall very bad and overpriced experience. Do yourself a favor an go anywhere else. The only good thing i have to say about it is this place is well located.

We came on February 11th, 2021 to celebrate my friends upcoming nuptials. We were excited about our trip. However, we were immediately disappointed by the condition of the property. Upon arrival, there was no one at the front to greet us or help us with our luggage. Upon entering our room, we noticed a foul smell. This smell lasted the entire time we were there, making us sick to our stomachs. Our room was not at all properly cleaned. There were no washcloths in the bathroom, for us to bathe with. Our beds were not comfortable and none of us got a full nights rest.
At the restaurant the food was subpar and the drinks were made with house liquor.
Lastly, we paid an extra fee for a third person but that person couldn’t even access the WiFi. What is the point of her paying if she will not be awarded the full amenities that every other paying guest receives?
After one night of subpar conditions we left, as we did not feel the hotel was clean nor a place we would be able to properly enjoy and relax.

+1
The Downside;
Had a boring time here, the hotel reminds me of a 70’s motel, The walls are paper thin, no sleeping in or sleeping, wood and concrete rooms is the look, only five of the employees truly had Customer service from all the staff. I would say Gracias and probably heard “De nada” twice the whole visit. It’s the middle of a pandemic and I get the struggle is real. I’m grateful no matter what 24/7 (this stuff just needs to be mentioned and addressed)
Food; there’s just about nothing for a vegan but black beans and steamed vegetables. I'm not picky at all but the food was water down. If you like old school TV Dinners ( The ones that used to cost like .80 cents) then maybe you'll love it. Room service; The nachos have squeeze cheese or some other kind of awful cheese on them ( it’s not Velveeta that would be a complement) It’s awful! Morning breakfast; quesadillas and Chalupa bar looked and tasted good The first three days of visit, and the young lady who works that Chalupa bar is very kind. Bacon eaters; no bacon ever at breakfast you have to personally request it and they would go to the very back to retrieve it, really… Fresh Fruit; all of the fruit had no flavor, just sad fruit with three options at most.
The size of the beach is zero to none, just views of the green ocean. One pool for the entire property but The pool staff definitely go out of their way to entertain you as much as possible! with four TINY hot tubs, and a tiny pool In front of the larger pool a MAJOR chair shortage, Pool food was terrible and the drinks water down. Just make sure to order shots on the side of your Miami Vice to add liquor to your drink..
The upside;
Internet service; $18 daily rate (ridiculous) but heyyyyyy there is (internet) or go to the lobby and sit in front of the office desk for complementary service. Location is 15 min walk or $20-35 cab ride Depending on the driver, and Free bikes at Lobby to get to town for exploring.
There is only one restaurant and a pool bar open during your stay and another bar adjacent from the lobby the entire stay.
When you read, I Don’t understand the bad reviews! Please believe that has to be someone who works the website and can go write reviews for the motel, I mean resort….
Edgar & Mariam are the front reception help. Edgar has a magical voice for singing, and Mariam has the sweetest kindest heart willing to help you however she can to make sure you have a nice stay.
Ask Freddy to make all of your drinks he’s one of the best bartenders by far for this resort. Always smiling, happy to mix a drink, and knows his drinks.

Beautiful resort with friendly, helpful staff. From the moment we arrived Damian and Lourdes were very helpful in arranging for our rooms to be close by since we were a small group and wanted to be close. They went on and beyond to accommodate us. We were celebrating a birthday and they decorated the room beautifully to surprise the birthday girl.
The restaurant staff were fantastic. I am a very picky eater but Tomas made it always possible for me to custom the meals to my liking. The other hotel staff remember Jesus (Chucho), Noemy, Rob to name a few always were very attentive to our group and made sure were
Alan is another staff member that gave us great tips and locations to explore on that side of the country. He also did activities during the day to keep us all entertained such as aerobics, learning how to make ceviche.
Overall, I recommend Kore Tulum 100%...it is more of an adult, relax environment to disconnect from your daily life.

Hidden away from the chaos of Tulum, a chilled, beautifully kept, adult only oasis! Good value as well. Good location near the old ruins and plentiful beach clubs. Some negative points: $18 a day for wi-fi ( free in reception)! Real shame they feel the need to charge so much for something that's free. Also $35 for a bottle of wine in your room in an all inclusive resort? Ice cream 3 times in 10 days and a real lack of salad, vegetarian and absence of vegan food. The biggest drawback's for beach lovers...there isn't one, despite advertising one! Also no nightly entertainment which was implied. The excursions are so expensive hardly anyone bothers! Some things may be seasonal but when we went there was only one restaurant, not 3, no outdoor bar when the pool bar closes at 6pm which is a shame. The complimentary bicycles are in poor condition and they don't even have a spanner to adjust seat height!
Overall, if you need a smart, chilled escape at a good price, it's perfect for that.
For me, Mexico is a one off and I'll be heading to places that don't charge $25 for a one mile cab journey, $200 a day for a quad bike, £6 for a small beer and have beaches clear of tons of seaweed with sea you can actually swim in!
