Stayed her a few nice. Price quality is good. You get free breakfast, wifi and between 6-7 pm free caparinhas( diluted ones though ;) ) the atmosphere is really nice, good common area and pool were you can meet people, if you just wanna hang back there are hammocks in the back. Sometimes there is music in the evenings but... More

The hostel itself has great facilities, namely the free make-your-own breakfast - this was fantastic. However, there was a bit of a frat house vibe that wasn't our kind of thing. We wouldn't visit again, although we also wouldn't visit Tulum again - feels like Mexico's answer to a Thai party island. Shame because the beach is stunning but covered... More

We stayed one week. Perfect location! We booked trough the website and got a really good deal for staying a week. Free caipirinhas for one hour every night. Free salsa lessons now and then. Free cook your own breakfast. We had a private room with toilet (no door though) and ac and a fan. If I ever go back to... More

Can't believe how much free stuff thy provide at this hostel! Free make your own breakfast (pancakes, bread, cereal, eggs and coffee), dinner stuff (lentils, pasta and rice), drinks for an hour every evening (Brazilian caipirinha) and salsa dancing lessons. Great vibe by staff, pool and good activities available. Would recommend this hostel any day!

Nice one night stay, but I wouldn't have stayed for more. The room was clean and basic, with a comfortable bunk bed and air con. The problem was the toilet, which had no door. It was separated from the room by half a wall. So weird. Since we only stayed for one night it was fine, but still. I don't... More

Good hostal, with great facilities and amazing value for money!!!! Would have given it top marks but unfortunately all the common areas are smoking, apart from the reception area, you may think me petty but when you sit down to eat on a common table with 10 or more other guests who start smoking, just has you've finished cooking and... Stayed at the Weary Traveler for one night with friends. We were 6 and had a room to ourselves for 240 pesos each, with aircon and a private bathroom. Free breakfast (pancakes, eggs, toast, coffee, cereal), dinner (pasta, rice, lentils) and drinks between 6.30 and 7.30 made it well worth it. Clean sheets, room and good wifi. Met loads of... More

So much potential at this place. It was a bit messy when I visited this place and some conflicts between people that dragged down the over all impression. Great kitchen and a pool that everybody can enjoy. A bit confused staff, but friendly. Fresh rooms. Animal friendly. Near the busstation (if you don't get lost on the way like we... More

I was GRANDPAcking in Tulum for 7 nights. Because of the popular Tulum Ruins and Tulum Beach, Hotels in Tulum are expensive for budget travellers. If you want to keep costs below MXP500 / night for a Double Fan room, you need to book into a hostel. I got a 40% discount rate of only MXP309 / night for a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum was started by backpackers for backpackers back in the year 2000. The hostel was built around what they themselves wanted to find in a good hostel when they were traveling. A good social vibe A book exchange A bar with backpacker prices Communal Kitchen (loaded with free spices, salt, pepper) Full Cook Your Own Breakfast Free Rice, Pasta and lentils for dinner Good Advice on Tours and Activities Some aspects of the Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum appear to be unique but they are not. Many of them came from other hostels where we had stayed long before we dreamed of opening a hostel in Tulum. For example the Burn Your Own BBQ was inspired by the Bondi Beach Hotel's incredible steak barbi setup inside the bar. Huge, beautiful cuts of beef were in a display fridge that was part of the bar. You would say, "Yeah, give me that one!" and huge chunk of raw red meat came at you on a platter. It was your job to cook it how you wanted it. The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum has changed, evolved, gone back to our roots and changed again and again over the years. We have always tried to evolve as a hostel, stay ahead of the competition and anticipated the changing needs and desires of our guests. So welcome to The Weary Traveler Hostel Tulum, mi casa es su casa! John, one of the originals from way back when. ... more   less
