I stayed at Cabanas Copal for two nights and found the hotel very quiet. It is now essentially a part of Azulik and they share the same checkin desk. They Mayan Spa is on site as well but I did not have any services there. Cabanas Copal was much larger in the past and now a large fence divides the...

This place is terrible and not worth a peso... it is in the middle of the jungle and unless you pay 300 USD a night you will not see the ocean at all. It is possible to reach the beach via a stairway, however the beach is so rocky that you will neither be able to swim nor to escape...

This would be our fourth trip to Tulum. Our third staying at Copal. We stayed in a partial sea-view cabana. Comfortable bed, good housekeeping and good access to a beach that we really enjoy. As always, we had a nice stay with good service. We met some fun people and had a great time. They no longer have a restaurant,...

We have stayed at Copal a number of times in the past, but this certainly is NOT what it used to be. There is a very ugly chain link fence that was put in next to La Casitta which is now more or less a part of Azulik and it's covered with dead palm leaves that are tied on there......

Some of the cabanas are situated in a jungle the other have view on the caraibian sea. Inside you will find a comfortable bed with a big mosquito net, a wooden table, two glasses and four candles. There is no electricity so be prepared for going to bed just after the sun set (5pm). If you do so you will...

The setting at Cabanas Copal is just stunning - right on the white sand beach. We stayed in a cabana with a sand floor and loved the sound of the ocean coming through our "walls". I did the free yoga class every morning and found it to be great. The common areas are wonderful for hanging out, reading a book,...

We loved the simple cabins on the beach! It's a luxury hostel or more like glampin! If you don't need AC during the day this is just great! You don't need AC at night because the breez of the ocean is constant, so much so the hotel is ran off of windmills!!! We walked to the ruins witch is a...

I recently returned from a week long stay at Cabanas Copal, my 13th consecutive year to visit either Copal or Azulik. For the past several years I have stayed in Copal's Cabana #28, AKA, the Casita. I love this unit. It's slightly larger than, and served as the prototype for, the upscale sister hotel- "Azulik" which is next door. While...

HUGE disappointment!! My husband and I were at Copal a year and a half ago and loved our visit. We had such a good time we were looking forward to our visit in May. This year we had planned on spending 8 nights at Copal. Despite all the bad reviews, we decided to go and give it a chance. How...

Having read negative reviews about Cabanas Copal and the recent changes, we arrived for a week's stay in late March with low expectations. Happily, we were pleasantly surprised to find most of the comments untrue, at least for us. We had very friendly and helpful service, especially from the desk personnel at Azulik, plenty of candles, clean sheets and towels...

“Azulik rooms offer better size and location than those of Copal (but on the same site. They offer Spa services which we didn't use this time but did last time and they were well priced and very professional.”

“You definitely want to select a Sea View room (not Partial Sea View) because you'll get a much better breeze coming in off the sea, which will make for a much more pleasant night's sleep.”

“The only copal room I would consider would be La Casitta - but you have a rusted chain link fence right next to your room and no beach access unless you go wandering around and down through Azulik's cabana's private access - which you disrupt the privacy of someone who "paid" to have a private entrance to the beach.”
