My husband and I stayed here for a total of 6 days. It is a very simple hotel, with great breakfast. The rooms were a good size, when we booked the hotel we asked for a room change on the 3rd night. We went from a balcony with a hammock, to the room with the Jacuzzi. Both rooms were of...

Very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and that that room combination you asked for worked out well for you. Thanks for posting your comments here and just let us know when you're ready to come back for another stay! Stephen Ryberg Playa Maya

Nice hotel and good value for your money. The service was great and the food is pretty good (Try the famous coconut shrimp, or the shrimp tacos). The free breakfast is very good. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The economy suite has two connected rooms, with a very nice view of the ocean. The only drawback to this hotel,...

We recently spent a week relaxing on the beach at Playa Maya and loved every moment. Playa Maya is an affordable, small and simple hotel on the beach. Rooms are clean, food is good, and the staff is friendly and helpful. This was our second stay at Playa Maya and it will not be our last! Go with the right...

Hello again, Thanks very much for your review. Yes, we certainly agree that it's crucial to know what you're booking and to have corresponding expectations for your stay, and it's great to hear that you were so satisfied with this second one that you'd like to come back for still another. We'll be delighted to host you again! Stephen Ryberg...

Please do not book here, you can do better for your money. The hotel is old and dingy and the pool is a wading pool, with no chairs around to relax on. The beach in front is full of rocks making swimming very difficult. There is no street access so you have to walk in very deep sand to get...

Well of course everyone is completely entitled to their own opinion on subjective matters, including how they (dis)liked a hotel they stayed at. And we are always sorry to hear of any guests who were not satisfied with their stay here. However the kind of hyperbole and just factual inaccuracy in this review is unfortunate to see. The pool /...

We just left after a week at playa maya and overall we were happy with the whole experience. Very good position, central in playa del carmen. The room was very basic but had everything you were expecting a room to have(hairdryer, coffee maker, security box) but I do recommend you to get the deluxe balcony room as it has better view...

They were super responsive to questions I had before we even arrived. Once there the staff went above & beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They even offered to upgrade us the next day! The wait staff were always nice and made sure we were taken care of. In a town lik Playa Del Carmen where choices...

There are lots of hotels in Playa del Carmen and luckily we saw a recommendation online for the Playa Maya Hotel. We stayed there in March and it was perfect for our needs. It is centrally located off of 5th Avenue, easily walkable to the ferry pier to Cozumel and the Mermaid statues where local Mayan dances are performed, and...

Me and my husband decided to take a quick trip for my birthday to Cancun. Playa Maya was recommended by my neighbor so we decided to book. My Neighbor told me that the rooms were nothing special but the beachfront was very nice and also a small property. W e like small and private you get better service it seems...

We have stayed at Playa Maya a couple of times. We have always enjoyed it, but this year we were disappointed. A new hotel has opened up next door. Apparently they are catering to the party crowd. Their boom, boom, boom music (noise ) started at 7:15 each morning and continued on into the night at varying levels of intensity....

This was our 6th trip to Play del Carmen, but first stay at Playa Maya. As we told the owner's wife, who we spoke to twice during our visit, the best thing about the place is the staff. They were all friendly, attentive, and genuinely went out of their way to make you comfortable. Our Superior Balcony room on the...
