Given the great value and interior beauty of this lodging, I would give it five stars (for a great value lodging) except for its location 15 minutes walking distance from the historic "center". We started with a small problem with the water being down in our booked room, but the management didn't hesitate to upgrade us to an even nicer...

The Villa Merida is an old beautiful hacienda that is in desperate need of some TLC. It could be a magnificent property if there were a little attention to detail. The rooms are a nice size with beautiful high ceilings, but nothing in our room worked. The water was out ( how could housekeeping not know this) the safe didn’t...

(1) Excellent location on one of the nicer streets radiating out of Merida historic center. (2) We booked 1 room and were give 2 very large rooms at check=in because of a minor plumbing issue in original room -- we were offered and kept both rooms for entire stay. (3) Miguel and entire staff were friendly, courteous and very professional...

Villa Merida is a beautiful classic Mexican hacienda which has been sympathetcially restored. It is located slightly outside the centre of Merida and all the better for it. It is a 15 minute walk to the centre or a 5 minute taxi ride which are readily available. The Manager (Luis) and the staff are very helpful whilst remaining in the...

Beautiful old house renovated, is an excellent choice. Run by 3 super friendly persons, sometimes takes them a few minutes to arrange everything, but that's the part of its enchant. Nice rooms, with AC and TV, restaurant only for breakfast with little menu but delicious. It's located far from city center, but nothing a 30 pesos taxi can't reach. The...

Villa Merida Hotel was exactly what we were looking for on our trip. The city can be noisy and the hotel is off the beaten path but not too far to walk or taxi. Hey at $4 bucks US for a trip to the center of town who could complain? Lots of options for dinner, shopping, cocktails, museums, parks, etc....

Pluses: Beautiful residence. Very high ceilings in our room (#3), nice patio, beautiful pool Friendly staff Minuses: Remote location, far from city center, in an unattractive neighborhood, making the 20-minute walk to the city center unpleasant. The hotel is on calle 59, which is a major artery inside this 1-million inhabitant city, so the noise level is high during the...

I am a bit late in writing this review as my husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in December 2013. We stayed in 3 different accommodations during our time in Merida and this was our favorite. The two others were in the centre of town, and one considered a 'more flashy' hotel - but lacked character and charm....
