We checked in on a Wednesday. We were informed that there had been a mix up and that we'd been upgraded to a suite and no additional charge. They asked if that would be a problem. As it turns out, the only problem was that we didn't want to leave. The hotel is beautiful. Yes, it's obviously old and has...

My wife and Enjoyed a very restful night at the Gran Hotel. Delicious and quaint Dinner out followed by a 40 Minute Horse and Carriage ride through Historic Merida. A delightful evening. Sunday Morning we walked and had Breakfast overlooking the Square and shopped the markets with locals. An excellent experience within a welcoming community of friendly people.

Gran Hotel de Merida is located in the heart of the City Center one block from the Zocalo and a short walk to Paseo Montejo. Plenty of shopping, sights and dining to be had in walking distance. On Sunday morning we enjoyed the bicycle day where the city center and Paseo Montejo were closed off to car traffic and you...

Facilities are very basic, as also are the rooms, but the place is very historical, charming and well located, so it's a good choice for 1-2 nights, not more than this. Locations is really the best thing you can get here.

The place is beautiful, I’m pretty sure the owner knows it, but it has not been properly taken care of, you will find that the lobby is an antique shop, the place smells old, but the rooms are suitable, very clean, comfortable and large, bathroom European style, if you get a room with a view to the park you will...

Our stay in the Gran hotel was very nice. The historical charm of the hotel was a very nice start. The staff was very attentive and kind to help us book a private tour much cheaper than in agencies in town. The bedroom was big with a second room; the bed was very comfortable and the best are the bedsheets...

The hotel is perfectly placed in the center of the city. Infront is a nice small park and restaurants of good quality. To enter the lobby and visit the 2 floors inside the building is an extraordinary experience that takes you back to the 19th century. The rooms are also decorated in an old style. Prices are very good. The...

This is an old colonial structure built in 1901 with beautiful marble staircases (but no elevators.) Our room was a suite, and I have never stayed in a hotel with bigger rooms. The ceilings have to be 20 feet, with huge windows looking out on the Gran Plaza. No closets, but, instead, antique wardrobes. The room had a safe, cable...

We booked to stay here for 2 nights last week and ended up staying 4. The reasons: Great location- if you find the heat a challenge you can come and go as it gives onto a lovely square just near the zocalo and great restaurants. Friendly staff - were always on hand to be helpful, nothing was a bother. Cleanliness-...

The Gran Hotel is the most central location you can have, but the tradeoff is that there's lots of activity around the hotel, including music playing in the adjacent square, until late some nights. I was there on New Year's Eve and didn't mind, expecting this. It's a great hotel with an old-world feeling. The rooms have a good price,...
