First off, I arrived there around 7:30 in the morning because of my overnight bus from Palenque. But the hostel led me check in super early and even asked me to join their breakfast. When I walked into the kitchen/dining, I couldn't believe that they had SO MUCH fruits: banana, papaya, melon, watermelon, pineapple, and mango. There were also corn...

After a tropical storm knocked out our trip to Oaxaca, we made a last-minute listing to celebrate Dia de los Muertos in Merida. While the celebration here is a little disorganized and on a very minimal scale, our time in the region was enjoyaable none-the-less, particularly at Hostal Zocalo. We arrived very early from the bus that came direct from...

We stayed in a 4 bed private room, make sure you ask for a room facing the square! You get an awesome balcony then too for the same price. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast. Reasonable laundry prices too.

My brother and I stayed here for five nights and we really enoyed it. It is located right in the main square, right next to the historical Casa de los Montejo (founder of Mérida), built in the sixteenth centrury. It has high ceilings so it doesn't get too hot. The size of the rooms is good enough and the sheets...

As far as hostels go, this is one of the best hostels I have ever been to in terms of value for money. Hostel Zocalo is in an ideal location--in the center of town, right on the main square. The free breakfast is wonderful! Omeletters, cereal, breads, jams, etc. The rooms are incredibly clean, they give you towels--and even the beds...

I think this is the best hostel experience I've ever had. A lovely large room half colonial, a quarter mural, a quarter graffiti and with a private balcony overlooking the central park. The location is perfect, the staff work as a team, the breakfast is amazing, it's clean but the atmosphere is the best. Stay for a few days at...

Right on the plaza, walking distance to all of merida's attractions. Private room was clean and spacious. Free breakfast at big communal table- cereal, fruits, bread rolls and omelettes. Staff were helpful and friendly. Stayed 2 nights and the breakfast was one of the best we have had at any hostel around the world.
