We were insured a high level of confidence with the maids. I know a lot of people have trust issues with this, but we put our passports in our bags in our room and didn't have any issues. We also had money on the counters and it wasn't touched. The only time the maids take money is when it is left as an intentional tip(which they have a folder for). Seems a little overly trusting, I understand. But we didn't have any issues.
