I cannot think of another place like this. From the rooftop in the morning, you are above the treeline and can see such a variety of birds. In a remote location like this, the possibility of seeing more rare/uncommon species is much more likely. Having a rooftop perch allows you a comfortable vantage more often found in observation towers in...

This small boutique hotel is very close to the ruins of Chichen Itza though it is literally off the beaten path - drive a mile or so down the gravel path to the hotel and you find yourself at a secluded and tranquil oasis. This is especially true after fighting through the maddening crowds at Chichen Itza. The staff was...

My spouse and I flew to Yucatan and rented a car. We thought we were headed for Merida, yet the car rental agent (more on that on another page) told us we were staying much closer. It was a little hard to find, but we stopped by a hotel a couple of hundred meters up the road from it. Indeed,...

I made the reservation without expecting much, but what a discovery Oka'an was. Extraordinary service, the staff was excellent, very attentive, friendly and thoughtful since our arrival. Food was extraordinary, plus Don Braulio and his staff would take good care of you!! they had cochinita pibil for breakfast, included in the room price!!I had never experienced that before. We stayed in this hotel close to the archeological site and spent here only 2 days. Only, because it was so beautiful, peaceful that we would have stayed here longer. The standard room was big, super clean and smelled so good! The included breakfast tasty good and the hotel organized a sciaman ritual for celebrating the new year. It was...

Hotel Oka'an is an extraordinary place. Located off the hi-way in a secluded jungle-like setting, the facility and grounds are tranquil and lovely. Truly a unique experience. Wish there was more info about history and ownership. Feels like a retreat center with all modern conveniences. Swimming pool is spectacular. Food was fine, but the setting was even better. Only complaint...

We loved the place. There is a small lagoon in the middle of the trees and the swimming pool is gorgeous. The restaurant is also very good. The service is extraordinary, specialy Braulio at the restaurant. Definately going back

This is the perfect place to go for a relaxing weekend getaway. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and well kept. All the rooms have a great view of an artificial pond and the entire place is nestled into the jungle.

We had an unforgettable experience, but unfornately not in a good way. The place is beautiful, in the middle of the woods, with large and confortable apartments and a kind staff. We found our apartment with complimentary coffee, a nice fruit basket, treats for our baby and a nice crib... But all of this didn't make up to the problems...
