This was our second time visiting Zilara and they didn't disappoint. The staff were very accommodating in every accept of our stay. Especially Chef Alexander and our server Alfredo at the Spice buffet. It was my husbands birthday and as soon as they found out Alfredo made a pancake cake along with other staff singing happy birthday. With all the faces Alfredo saw in one day he always remembered our drink order, its the little things. The pool food was always yummy and the cabana butlers work really hard to keep the drinks and food delivered to your cabana promptly. All the rooms face the ocean and our view was amazing. The hotel will be closing for several months to update and we can't wait to go back. The rooms defiantly need to be updated but were clean and we are hoping for better lighting. Also hope they remove the large jacuzzi tub, its very large and takes up quite a bit of room. The magic door was great so that any room service dishes were not on the ground outside the door. The beach was very clean and you didn't have to walk far to get to the water. A couple negative thing that were different from our last visit was the upcharges to have seats at the lobby shows/food nights. There is open seating but you are at tables with several other people in the back. Also, there were some liquors that you had to pay for and a couple of the dinners. We always felt safe and had no problems accessing off site shopping and activities.

Before we arrived, our travel agent connected us to Daniel Manzana by email, the dining and cabana reservations manager. But how he knew us by face and name, to offer us hats amidst the New Years Eve crowd, was endearing. Maybe it was because he helped us arrange six coconuts in lieu of a bottle of liquor when we rented a cabana a fourth time.
The concierge staff, Monica and colleagues, were also so personable and helpful. We loved their daily Whats App message of activities. Monica arranged to have Chef Haisler in Spice, microwave some carryout food we purchased in town. We really appreciated that collaboration.
We have stayed at approximately 15-20 resorts and there has never been a time we rated a resort this well. The size of the resort is perfect. The beach was excellent. Not many vendors and no time share salespeople. No lines for meals. Beach cabanas for rent--great idea. Staff amazing! We are very very critical so this is a high praise. We will recommend to our friends, staff and others.
The Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations were beautiful. Those napkins folded like birds! The staff's energy! Your introductions of head staff. And the pool-side entertainment on New Years was incredible.
More of your wonderful team impressed us: Cabana guys Ivan, Adrian and Sebastian, who called us by name and tried to offer a steak or seafood in lieu of the alcohol with the fourth cabana rental - we appreciated their service (and coconuts instead).
Wait Staff at beach/pool, Victor, Luis, and Eloisa were attentive and kind.
Bartender Briscio, taught us all about Tequila (only drink 100% agave!) at the swim up bar. And like many staff, he offered to correct our Spanish speaking. He was delightful.
Many bartenders were friendly and welcoming, laughing with us as we danced past them.
Breakfast wait staff Gardenia and Carlos Martinez in Spice were special. They offered to make us Christmas coffee after Christmas, teach us Spanish words, and were still serving energetically New Year's Eve. Wow!
We always enjoyed the buffet in Spice, given our food limitations.
Waiters Arturo and Valdemor at Punta Vista breakfast time, were cheerful and helpful with our language. Food was presented beautifully there.
The entertainment team Johnathan, Gerado, Michelle and Mirfar (spelling?) were the highlight of my week. Their energy at the pool, creating a college-like atmosphere for the diverse ages, was so fun. The pool parties and foam were silly and we enjoyed. The team was always together, always visible to your guests. On the windy day, my son-in-law asked if they could move the ping pong table inside, which was a huge hit with many guests besides our family.
Housekeeping staff are doing a fabulous job. Inside and outside, public areas and rooms are super clean. We didn't see cups laying about, we liked the clever room service cabinets.
The Spa - used on two days by our two sons. Clean, classy, restorative, they said. The sample massage that Bryan arranged for our 21-year old was what encouraged him to use it (but he didn't get the massage). A suggestion: offer moisturizing lotion in the men's changing room.
Nightly entertainment was fun. - Kenyai acrobats were amazing and unique!
- Check the sound system - when it's so loud, the singers are sometimes overpowered by speaker noise.
- Dancers: "beautiful ladies" and "handsome men" were talented.
Mixology Bartenders - great teachers in a cool atmosphere.
Sports Bar - we enjoyed pool table, foosball and outside space.
The Coffee Shop - Kind and Patient Staff, lovely place, great snacks. We all enjoyed our treats from there.
Eduardo, the assistant manager would meet with us and take a personal interest in our stay and listen to our comments.
I could list so many little things that make this resort outstanding but suffice it say, the attention to the important details were not missed and as such we will return and recommend this resort to friends and associates.

Zilara is a smaller resort that is exceptionally clean with great attention to the gardens. The resort is conveniently organized with rooms close to all amenities that are centrally located. Garden view rooms are located in the back and are quiet. Pool view rooms also have ocean views. The swim outs are beachfront, literally steps from the beach and offer fantastic clear ocean views and fantastic sunrises. Staff is fantastic ! Everyone we met was kind and service oriented. Shout out to Diana our beach server, Sergio at the breakfast buffet, Edgar our well informed Sommelier, and Denise buffet hostess for their attention, service excellence, great smiles, kindness, and ability to engage with staff. I qualify the resort as a 4.5 for several reasons. There are not enough palapas/huts on the beach. It’s a race to secure one. However, there are Bali beds for rent which I recommend for the nominal fee. There are also plenty of umbrellas around the pool for those who prefer activities and a party ambiance. Guests who prefer the quiet typically opt for the beach. The second reason is the hotel depends on vacant rooms to offer hospitality showers/suites for late departing guests and are not available especially in high season. However, in highlighting this as an issue to Jacob the concierge, he was committed to successfully resolve the issue for us. Kudos to Jacob for his service recovery skills. Unfortunately, this puts the front facing staff in a difficult spot. My recommendations are for the management and top leaders of the hotel because you choose where to invest on improvements. Your staff represent you and defend your shortcomings and they do an excellent job at that. You have highly engaged teams! Congratulations! The resort would benefit from resolving the hospitality shower issue in several ways: Establish a formal agreement with the spa to leverage their shower facilities or alternately, build shower suites attached to your gym facility and offer a hospitality service. The third reason is the restaurant situation. A la carte restaurants located inside are very noisy, too bright, lack ambiance and appear to be under staffed on the server side. Likely the hotel would benefit from having one more a la carte - a French restaurant or a steakhouse. In the end, the buffet is quieter, more intimate, and has a great variety of food options that surpass the a la carte. Lastly the house wines are subpar. We purchased from the sommelier’s great options. Be aware that you’ll pay nearly 4 times the in store price while the typical practice is to double or multiply the in store price by 2.5. I hope this can help in people’s choice.

Our trip to the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun was a great time (even though it was a business trip). The food was so good every place we ate in the resort, and the hospitality was incredible. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to serve and make your stay welcome. We received excellent service from Carlos Martinez and his partner Rossy Sanchez at the Spice restaurant, and Camilo at the hibachi restaurant was so entertaining and made a phenomenal filet! I was also very impressed with the room. The front door had a view of the bay, and the inside and balcony had a view of the ocean. We were on the 7th floor and kept the sliding glass door open to see and hear the waves throughout the day and nights. When laying in bed and looking outside, it looked we were in the middle of the ocean. All you could see was blue sky and water (again, 7th floor). We also had a HUGE jacuzzi tub with two lounging seats right there in the bedroom by the ocean view. The bathroom had two separate shower heads (one rain head and one wand style) with great pressure and temperature. There were two sinks with mirrors, one being outside of the shower/toilet room, so getting ready with two people was not a problem. Room service was included and they were happy to keep the room and refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks at no extra charge. We truly hope to return again in the future and highly recommend this resort for anyone visiting Cancun!

FWIW, I have stayed in Mexican resorts over 20 times; I am not a newbie.
Overall this was a very nice hotel. The staff and service is first rate, nothing other than exceptional service all over the resort. The beach is nice: soft sand, a wide beach, easy access to the water (no seaweed and few rocks to pass through), and plenty of open water to go for long walks along the surf. The rooms (I believe ALL waterfront) have great views, were clean, well-maintained, and serviced daily. I was cautious because the restaurants don't take reservations, but over 5 days, 3 meals a day, we never had to wait to be seated once, and the service was excellent. Evening entertainment was pretty good each night as well.
The quirks. Decor is a bit dated; dark (but clean!) room bathrooms and older furniture. The bathrooms for the pool area require you to walk across the main lobby, or descend to the beach level. It's just odd, as most resorts have a bathroom somewhere near the pools.
The only "bad" experience; which others have mentioned: the majority of shaded pool seating (Bali beds) require an extra payment of $69/day. There are some no-charge shaded seating areas around the pool but you need to jump on them well before breakfast. Then, on Tuesdays and Saturdays there are zero shaded lounges in the pool area unless you pay $170 for the day. That's so you can watch the "foam party" up close. So get your inner 8 year old out and you may find that worth it, especially if you like your drink to have some foam on top. mmm. Oh, it includes a bottle of tequila or vodka, or whatever. OK, but that is also free by the glass 20 feet away at the bar, all day, so free booze made no sense to me. The whole charging extra for the majority of shaded seats, rather than a few select premium locations as some other resorts do, rubbed me the wrong way., but admittedly wasn't that big a deal as we only had to get through one day of that.
Rumor was that they will close in March for 5-7 months to do updates/renovations which could make it seems more contemporary.
We enjoyed our time there very much, outside of the stupid foam party/$170 chaise lounges. And, at risk of repetition, the staff was all great and elevated the experience. A great crew.

Hubby and I vacationed at the Zilara January 4-11. Everything at this resort was top notch. Check in was fast, easy and the front desk clerk was very friendly. Our room was very nice and quite large. It had separate sinks and a solid door to the toilet/shower room which is very much appreciated. The balcony had a great view of the ocean and included a hammock. The bed was very comfy and the house cleaning staff were excellent. The food had to be the best I’ve ever had at an all inclusive resort. Lots of options at the buffet and we never had to wait to be seated at any of the a la cart restaurants. The resort is beautiful and very clean, there are fresh flower arrangements all throughout the lobby and sitting areas. The pools were warm, the beach beautiful and there are plenty of lounges and Bali beds. We had no problem finding a Bali bed each day of our vacation. The staff here are so friendly and make you feel so welcomed. A special shoutout to Luis at the lobby bar who was very attentive and took the time to give us a tequila lesson and tasting. Also to Martin at Spice who was so friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. We would definitely love to visit this resort again.

I have been traveling to Mexico and other destinations since the 1990s, and without a doubt, this has been the best resort experience I’ve ever had. The Hyatt Zilara is truly something special, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease and, for the first time, truly spoiled.
This resort has it all: outstanding service, incredible food, amazing entertainment, and beautiful, well-appointed guestrooms with breathtaking ocean views. I never once worried about eating or drinking anything—whether it was the food, water, salads, or fruit—because I felt completely safe and confident in the resort’s quality. I was so happy here that I honestly didn’t want to leave.
The level of service was beyond exceptional, and the staff were genuinely attentive and caring. I have to give huge kudos to the management team for clearly listening to guest needs and delivering on them. The nightly entertainment was outstanding, and the dining experiences were sensational. I’ve never felt so pampered and taken care of, and I’m already counting down the days until I can return.
For the first time ever, I truly felt that I had it all at a resort—this was the perfect place to relax and be treated like royalty. I even cried when I left because I didn’t want the experience to end!
That said, I’d like to offer just a couple of minor suggestions for improvement. The cable TV service was a bit weak, which I understand might be a Cancun-wide issue and not something the hotel can control. However, when we reported losing all the channels for a day, we were assured someone would come to our room, but no one ever did. When we went to the front desk, we were informed it was a citywide connection issue. While I understand these things happen, a follow-up or clearer communication would have been appreciated.
Additionally, I noticed there were many cabanas available for rent. While the resort is exceptional, the extra charge for the cabanas felt a bit unnecessary, especially considering the premium price we paid for our stay. It gave the impression of “nickel-and-diming” guests, which was a small disappointment in an otherwise luxurious and all-inclusive experience.
But honestly, these are very minor points. Everything else was perfect. This resort truly exceeded all expectations, and I am already planning my next visit. If you want to be spoiled and have an unforgettable experience, this is the place to go. Bravo, Hyatt Zilara! Thank you for an incredible vacation—I can't wait to come back!

The hotel has a very good location in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. From the first moment they receive you very well and the check-in is very quick and they explain everything very kindly. We opted for a junior suite, which was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Beautiful view from the balcony (all rooms face the sea) with chairs, table and hammock to enjoy it. It has free room service 24 hours a day with an extensive menu, the times we used it it came quickly. There is also a very complete minibar. The hotel has several restaurants: the buffet always has many options that change every day, Cantina Adelita excellent for typical Mexican food and drinks, Punta Vista with a varied gourmet menu (we recommend the octopus) and steps from the beach and Asiana, the which we undoubtedly liked the most with its Asian food and sushi. There was also Casa del Café, an option for coffee and pastries. In all the restaurants we highlight the superior quality of the food and the good service in relation to other all-inclusives that we have visited. The bars and the service in all the bars are excellent with very good quality drinks, prepared with the label you want. At the hotel there are many daily activities as well as nightly shows that are good suggestions for your stay. The beach is beautiful, white sand and turquoise and blue sea, very wide and clean. There are complimentary lounge chairs and lounge chairs and other charges. The beach bar staff is constantly at your disposal. The pool is very large, impeccable, with a beautiful view and water at a pleasant temperature. In general, the facilities look maintained, they are spacious, with very nice decoration and although there are people, it is a quiet hotel (it is also for adults only). We have had an excellent experience and I hope we are lucky enough to return. The only difficult thing was going home at the end of the vacation!

Wow, just wow. The ocean and sand are pure heaven at this resort. Buttery sand and crystal-clear blue water that you can get in, no seaweed and gentle current. My young adult kids loved being able to be in the waves. Hyatt Globalist member. Check in super-fast, paid to upgrade to Presidential suite with attached room and that was worth it. 805 has been upgraded and was modern and spacious. View is to die for and 2 outdoor tables on the terrace. I loved the hotel decor and was shocked to find out they are closing for 9 months to renovate. Food was best we have ever had at an all-inclusive. Holiday decorations were amazing! Service was great, had text service and all requests were answered quickly. Diana the Pilates instructor is very advanced and sweet, I suggest you take her class in the Fitness center. Rosa, Lorena, Frida and Oscar and Aleyda were a great Ambassador team. They checked in on us frequently. The beach cabana that comes with the presidential suite was great and had the ability to keep sun off of the cabana. Beach service was great with the drinks but limited food only hot dogs and hamburgers. Needed guac and chips at the beach and was bummed that was not an option. Towel service is easy and generous. Took shuttle hotel set up and would recommend that service. Hotel needs to stop with their time share folks. They called first morning at 9am, that was 7am our time. I asked the Ambassador team to have the time share folks never contact me and no one bothered us after that. All the restaurants were top notch, food was amazing. Coconut ice cream is a must have. Lots of fruit and veggies and selection at the buffet. Felt safe walking on beach, few vendors walking around but hotel had lots of security. Don't charge Globalist for wrist band keys, just doesn't feel right after spending a ton of money at the resort and asking for more money for a key. Other than that key thing and the time share folks, 100% will stay here again.

We stayed 7 nights at the Hyatt Zilara Cancun. The beaches were beautiful, well kept and maintained. I’ve stayed at other resorts and the pool area wasn’t quite as large, but neither was the resort, and the area was more than enough for the number of guests. The staff was always friendly. We were leery of the all-inclusive buffet restaurant at first, because it wasn’t as large as other resorts such as Riu or Sandals. We found the smaller area more personal and the quality of food much better. They had your typical custom made to order options such as omelets, stir fry, Italian pasta, BBQ, steaks, etc. There was hardly ever a wait for them to cook those items in front of you. The resort amenities were everything that you could ask for and more. This was our first time staying at a Hyatt that was all-inclusive, and we were very impressed. With the resort centrally located, taxis were easily accessible with only a 2-3 minute wait at any given time. The Welcome Ambassador / Concierge ladies were top notch. Ingrid, Ana and Jocelyn were always accessible and kept us in the loop with all the daily activities that were taking place at the resort. We booked our excursions through Cancun Adventures, which has an office inside the resort. The pricing was more than fair compared to searching elsewhere outside of the resort. The sunset on the Bay side was breath taking. The ocean view was wonderful. We spent 2 nights in an Ocean Front Junior Suite, and then upgraded to the Presidential Suite for the remaining 5 nights. The Presidential Suite was literally twice the size of the Junior Suite and included a small kitchen area with full size refrigerator, a living area with a lounging chair, two couches, and dining table. While the extra space was nice, we did not spend much time in it. I’d highly recommend the resort, and we will definitely be back to this location in Cancun and will be exploring the other Hyatt options in other destinations.

I would prob recommend not to rent and just get down there and pick one of the free cabana. The service is the same from the beach server - very good, BTW. On the beach, there are a lot of beach vendors which can get annoying, all day long! If you go on the south (quiet end) be aware that guests from the next door resort come over and sit on our cabanas. If you mention it to the beach server he will ask them to leave. Also smokers (right next to the ‘non smoking sign’). You might be better off at the pool area.
Ocean View room are on lower level, Ocean front on higher floor with slightly better view with a bit larger balcony. Otherwise no big difference. If price difference is substantial ..I will highly suggest to save the money and instead spend that money on booking a Cabana everyday...you will thank me later.
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
