I bought an all inclusive package over 3 years ago which included a presentation and paid to extend the time to use it by 1 year due to covid. I also purchased 2 extra nights beyond the package for a 6 night stay. We finally made it to Cancun last week. Transportation from the airport to the resort was included and provided by Aventour, very good, no problems. Check in was fine and our presentation was scheduled for the next morning. Because so much had changed (covid) since I bought the package, we were not interested in purchasing a timeshare. In fact, we have purchased an Airstream instead. We were attentive and engaged but tried to explain why we were not going to buy. The presentation was meant to last 90 minutes. Five hours and 4 salesmen later, I actually had to raise my voice and insist upon being released. Having survived the presentation, the rest of our stay was mostly a delight. The resort is beautiful and immaculate and the food and drinks were delicious and plentiful, but what really makes this place shine is the staff. There is a lot of staff there and each was friendly, kind, helpful and fluent in English (for you gringos out there). The room was okay, I’ve had better, but since it was part of the package and we didn’t spend much time in it, it was okay. I would have preferred a king bed instead of 2 queens and I would have MUCH preferred a room that was not adjoining. The screaming baby at 6am on the other side of the door was a bit grating. The mini fridge was stocked with a few beers, some soda and chips. The AC worked too well. Turn down service was hit or miss. The balconies have hammocks which (to me) were a hindrance and occupied all the space. Back to the food and drink, it was really great. All of the restaurants had sit down service except one which served buffet breakfast. The Italian was our favorite, followed closely by the Mexican. The steakhouse was good but I can eat steak at home and enjoyed more exotic food. The Japanese was good but (to me) too much fusion, not enough traditional Japanese. The bars were all great with so many choices! All but a handful of liquors were included, I was surprised. Sometimes I told the bartenders to surprise me, and they’d whip up some delicious cocktail. We also took a cab to Mercado 28 and did a little shopping and took the ferry (5 minute walk) to Isla Mujeres and rented a golf cart for a day. I’m summary, I would recommend this resort if you want to chill out, eat good food and are not a party animal. It’s quiet at night, restaurants close at 10:30, bars at 11. Lots of older guests (like me) and a few younger ones. The timeshare presentation was brutal, so if I were to go back, I would pay a little more and avoid that fiasco. Enjoy! Also, about covid. The resort has testing on site. We booked our test upon arrival. It was easy and painless. Results were emailed to us within a few hours and we just used our phone to show it at the airport. And the airport has lots of shopping if you arrive early.

Chef Bonito, Gabriel, and Manuel took great care of us on our dinner date for our honeymoon. It was a bit windy so be aware your salad may go sailing without you, but overall our chef prepared meal was great and our service from Gabriel was exceptional

There are many things that make Villa del Palmar Cancun a paradise, but first and foremost are the staff that work here, and work for Tafer, who owns the property. Prior to our three week stay we received an email from Carmen (Pre-arrival concierge) who coordinated our transportation and helped answer all our other questions! Upon arrival we were greeted by the most friendliest and sweet young lady - Ninfa at the Members Concierge - who took care of our every need not only the first day but all the way through our stay. She would even call our room periodically to make sure everything was going perfectly for us. Ninfa was an absolute treasure in this paradise. My husband and I met with our assigned Account Manager, Kit, who was not only knowledgeable about our options to upgrade but also one of the nicest young men we have met in a long time. Without feeling any pressure at all, and after contemplation, we decided to upgrade our points. By this time we knew that Tafer Resorts were where we would want to vacation for many years to come, and it part of this decision was knowing that we would have Kit as our Account Manager from now on! Our three week stay at Villa del Palmar was mainly for relaxation. This certainly is the place to do that with plenty of loungers at the multiple pools and on the beach, where we could cool off as needed in the refreshing water (both the pools and ocean were perfect temperatures). Due to a health issue I need to limit my time in the direct sunlight, even with a full body coverage swimsuit. Two caring and conscientious young men - Benjamin and Moses, Pool Attendants - took care of me at the pool by making sure I was under an umbrella in my lounger at all times. They would watch the sun as it progressed across the sky and came by to adjust the umbrella even before I knew it needed it. Both of them were delightful and compassionate! Whether eating at any of the restaurants on site or at the poolside, the food was absolutely delicious. Our favorite was the Italian restaurant Davino. We celebrated our anniversary there with Alonso as our waiter. He took care of us exquisitely and was knowledgeable about the specials, the standard menu, and many things about the Cancun area. We enjoyed visiting with him just as much as we enjoyed the meal. He worked with the pastry chef to surprise us with an anniversary dessert plate, which of course was delicious. When we returned to Davino on another evening for dinner, we asked for Alonso specifically so we could enjoy him, and his service, again! One of the benefits of staying at Villa del Palmar is having free access to paddle boards, kayaks, and other water activities. Sebastian and Adrian of the Activities Staff were there to help you with the equipment, and instructions if needed. Both gentlemen were gracious and made another part of this property feel like paradise! Also on the Activities Staff was Alejandro, whom we got to know from the multiple things that Villa del Palmar offers without charge to provide entertainment and socialization opportunities - water Zumba, bingo at the pool and at the members social hour, blackjack, water polo, etc. Alejandro was delightful, entertaining, and has the biggest heart! He truly cares about the guests he meets and makes sure everyone has a good and enjoyable time. He is another gem in this paradise resort! And, be sure to go to the spa on your visit. The attendants and masseuse staff are wonderful! Whether a member or a visitor, you cannot go wrong with a stay at Villa del Palmar. We HIGHLY recommend it, and we will return every year (at least once)!!

NEVER STAY HERE!! The men here are sexist!!! The food is terrible, the location is terrible and the service is terrible!! I got sick from the hot soggy food multiple times. There is no where to go because they are in the middle of nowhere and construction and a gas station keep you up all night with loud trucks and honking!! I also wasn’t allowed to eat at one of the restaurants because I had nice flip flops and a dress on.. all because I kept my swim suit top on under instead of a bra.. but men were eating in flip flops and work out shorts!! The managers (who were men) accused me of not looking nice enough to eat there!! It’s a four star hotel… luckily finally got a woman manager who was very understanding and caring!! But without her this stay would have been absolutely terrible!!! We’re still considering spending extra money to move hotels the next three nights!!!
