This is an honest review from a family of 6.
4 children aged between 8 and 13yrs.
The hotel has recently been renovated and is honestly immaculate! So clean in every area and you can see the staff working hard to maintain this.
I agree that this hotel is not the perfect choice if you want a full on family oriented quiet break. The hotel is busy and loud at times. That being said we had a fabulous time, yes there were people having a few too many drinks and enjoying themselves but the family pool is separate and we never witnessed any trouble.
We did see some people being removed from the adult only pool one day but the RIU staff had it all in hand and dealt with it really well.
The beach is PARADISE!! My kids spent hours on there playing in the sea. The family pool was fab too, right by the bar and food. Always managed to find sun-beds.
Our rooms were on the 9th floor, we were in our rooms by 10pm every night because of our younger ones and never got woken up by any noise.
The food choices were great, the Asian restaurant was our favourite.
My kids said it was the best holiday ever!
Definitely recommend a snorkelling trip while you are there. Swimming with turtles is something else!

There are a couple of things stopping me from giving this resort a 5* rating.
The beds are so small!!! Same size as a UK double which is so unusual for a RIU hotel (we have stayed in lots).
Customer service was not 5* from all staff. Only 50% of the staff were friendly even though we tipped every time.
***IMPORTANT*** If you loose your band they charge you $120 US Dollars for a new one!! The kids bands are different to the adults and are like a ribbon material that easily frays. My daughter lost hers but luckily we found it! This is something that definitely needs reviewing RIU!

The hotel was fabulous.

All staff very courteous, welcoming and smart in appearance.

The hotel room was very spacious and well equipped with a free mini bar, iron, ironing board, free safe, TV and plenty of plug and USB ports . The fridge was restocked with water and soft drinks every other day.

All of the bars were well manned and we didn’t have to wait long for service. The pool bar was fab! Very busy.

So close to the sea within 50 metres I’d say.

There is a bureau de change and they will change any currency but we only had to change large notes to smaller ones.

There were plenty of daily activities but we chose to watch rather than participate.

Internal spa offers all manner of services but they are a tad expensive. PayPal is preferred but they do take cash and card aswell.

Be prepared to tip! For a group of six we were tipping either $5 or 70-80 pesos each time we were altogether at any of the bars or the restaurants.

The main restaurant was exceptional. Out of the other restaurants we only tried the Chinese restaurant, and this was only once as we didn’t really like the food. Nothing wrong with it but just our taste.

If you go off site go in a group and take off any jewellery. And if you plan to visit anywhere make sure it’s a planned excursion.

On our last day we had to leave the room at 12noon but we’re given full use of the facilities until we left.

If we ever travel to Cancun again we will be staying here! Highly recommended.

We have just spent 14 nights at the Rui Caribe, the hotel is absolutely lovely. Our room was spacious and had a great view the maid service was 99% great didn't get the usual maids name she was absolutely great (room 587) the other one never changed the bed and folded our dirty towels instead of changing them but this was reported and rectified. The optics in our room were not to our taste locally branded but beer and soft drinks were good. Could not fault the food there is something for everyone again restaurants are lovely spotlessly clean. We had sunbeds at the pool where the aqua aerobics were on Tony was absolutely brilliant so much fun never ventured to the swim up bar but did speak to other guests who said it was dirty but that's the guests not the hotels fault the beach is absolutely stunning and spotless again down to the hotel staff. The Rui parties are worth a visit we had a great time. If you need to buy anything do not go to the hotel shop go to the one outside hotel alot cheaper. Another tip if you have long hair ladies you need to take a hairdryer the one in bathroom is useless I have short hair and I struggled. The only reason I gave this hotel 4 stars is because of location we like to go out for a walk to different pubs and to explore and felt it was not in the mix but that's us. The thing that makes this hotel is the absolutely brilliant staff they are so friendly Jesus at breakfast brilliant Litcha also brilliant and David who never stops at the pool collecting glasses never caught all your names but you are all a credit to Rui thank you for a lovely holiday 😀

I really am confused by all the amazing reviews as they are very misleading. The only
Good thing about the resort is that it is newly renovated but that’s where it ends it’s only
Pretty to look at. First off the rooms had a horrible mold/mildew smell that was making me feel sick, our rooms were NEVER cleaned unless we requested on the app and even so no fresh towels brought / toilet paper refills. Secondly the speciality restaurants are buffet style I would not consider these a la carte like other resorts I’ve been to. The food was very boring same thing every day, only the same two options for lunch everyday as well. The buffet food was constantly cold unless you got there as soon as it opened. They only offered one beer selection served in plastic cups that had a horrible taste to them. Even the cappuccinos were served in plastic and you basically had to beg/argue with staff for them to put it in a glass & they would watch you like a hawk to stay in that area. There is no such thing as service at this resort no one by the pools/ beach or even in the hotel lobby asking if you want a drink, this is fend for yourself resort - staff all looked miserable and like you were bothering them just by walking up to the bar. The only decent Restaurant was the steak house which we were told twice they couldn’t seat us because they had a big wedding group meanwhile we paid to have this included. The beach is nice but that’s about it we left every night to the strip to go have dinner, I would not recommend this place or any riu after this experience.

The hotel has undergone major restoration earlier this year and is in immaculate condition.
The rooms are lovely and are cleaned every day.
Free WiFi in the hotel, which gives you access for 4 devices.
There are a full range of spirit optics in the rooms and the fridge is well stocked with water and soft drinks, which if needed can be refilled.
The food is plentiful and well presented with plenty of options that cater for all needs.
The hotel grounds are well presented and the beach is beautiful with plenty of sun beds available.
The staff are so professional and friendly throughout the hotel which made the holiday even more relaxing and enjoyable.
There is a Rui Party (on the grounds) 4 times per week (adults only) and these are well organised and part of the all inclusive package.
There was never a long wait for drinks and food.
Towels are provided.
There is nothing not to like about the Rui Caribe and it is obvious that the management time are at the top of their game.
The bus stop is directly outside the hotel across the dual carriage way, costing $1.00 US dollar per person to go into Cancun.
There is a holiday tax to pay at the hotel on arrival, for my wife and I it was $762.20 Mexican Pesos around £37.00.
Worth noting you cannot book boarding passes for your return journey as you have to log into a government website “visitax.gob” put each individual traveller in along with passport number, once done you go to download and this in turn will provide you with a QR code for each traveller which allows you to get boarding passes at the airport, there is charge for this, my wife and I paid $259.00 Mexican Pesos each.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights. The resort was beautiful, completely renovated, clean and well maintained. Upon check in we were greeted with a cold drink. Check in was a breeze, with no upsell, etc. The rooms were very spacious, with lots of storage. The bathroom was exceptional and had a beautiful shower. Our king bed was comfortably firm. Each room has a balcony and ocean view. The beach was very nice, and the pools were beautiful and refreshing. Resort employees were courteous and helpful. The entertainment team at the pool were energetic and fun!
Areas for improvement:
We saw many people smoking throughout the resort in undesignated areas, which we found very annoying. There was no body lotion in the rooms, which we found odd. Each person is assigned one towel for swimming, which was monitored by presenting a towel card. We found that to be insufficient as the towels were small and didn't cover the lounge chairs, and it was kind of a pain keeping up with the towel card. There was no drink service around the pools nor at the beach. There was a drink cart brought to the pool areas sporadically. We enjoy being waited on while sunning and the lack of drink service was disappointing. Food is always a huge part of choosing a resort for us and this was where we felt the most let down. The food was just okay, and we usually delight in the food offered at other resorts. Too many buffets. Even the a la carte restaurants had buffets for your appetizers and desserts. Again, we enjoy sit down service and nice food choices, but we felt the menus were limited. The steak house offered just one steak. Lunch around the pool was the same every day. The only other place for lunch was at the main buffet, which was pretty much the same every day too.
We really had a wonderful time despite these criticisms. The people work hard to maintain this beautiful resort and it is in paradise, after all.

Newly renovated rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable and the blackout blinds are great, couldn't hear any noise outside or from other rooms next door during the night. Our room did smell of sulphur on occasions and the fan does make a noise which you can't switch off so some light sleepers may struggle. Overall we slept really well but had to sleep in the separate beds because each double bed was too small. Our fridge was stocked well and the room cleaned daily.

Food was plentiful and lots of choice. It was lukewarm most of the time and a bit bland for my liking but that could just be my taste. Best food we had was the steak in the gourmet restaurant nearest the main entrance lobby.

Lovely white sand beach and pool bar, the only issue we had was the amount of people bringing down their own large speaker so you ended up listening to 3 different types of music at once which was a bit annoying.

The RIU parties were great, lots of effort went into them with different music genres playing throughout the party.

All staff were amazing and although we tipped on most occasions the odd time we didn't we were still treated with the same high level of service.

We enjoyed our holiday as a couple but it would probably suit bigger groups better. Don't expect any peace and quiet on the beach or pool so if you want that this isn't the place for you.

The Asian restaurant was amazing!Diego was lovely would 100% return just for this restaurant. No reservation for any A la carte you can go as many times as you like.

Buffet was the same food every night. 0 service until the survey day. We had to get a drink from the lobby bar before going into lunch.

Riu party overall good would have liked some more Spanish music.2 day time and 2 night time parties per week. Does not disturb the rest of the hotel.

The room was spacious and the daily cleaner Jose was great. We used the RIU app to restock the fridge as we noticed this was not being stocked, very easy to use and Brought up straight away. The view from the balcony wow. We watched the sunset each night. Side view is the best.

Day entertainment was good. Night time is the same as every RIU hotel would have been nice to have live band or pianist in the lobby bar.21:30 start on entertainment.

NO sunbed wars plenty of seats at the pool and beach any time of the day howeverrrrr 90% of the pool area loses the sun around 15:30. We then moved to the beach.
The pool bar staff are all friendly. Water dispenser next to pool bar is replaced.

Remember to tip! However it is very noticeable that they prefer Spanish speakers especially at the buffet. We did try our best but it was uncomfortable to sit through a whole meal with no offer of even water. We did learn by day 3 to bring our own drinks.

Tui transfer took a long time considering the hotel was only 10km from the airport. always a lot of airport security it can take a while to get to the transfer bus.

Overall nice hotel, lovely views. Just a lack of service in some areas the optics and room fridge saved us.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in 5 stars are well deserved for this hotel. The rooms are so spacious and comfortable with optics and a full fridge of water, beer , coke and other soft drinks replaced every two days. Plus a coffee machine. The hotel is very very clean the staff work hard to ensure that everywhere is clean. Mago who looked after our room was amazing, keeping it spotlessly clean and making towel animals and making it special for one of my friend's birthdays. Food, well there is so much choice not only in the main Coral restaurant but in the other 4 restaurants e.g steak house and chinese food. All meals amazing and the staff are so customer focused they cant do enough for you. Vivianna in the restaurant was amazing on the evening and Antonio in the morning with his fist bumps to say good morning. They know how to look after you at this hotel and they don't expect tips , we tipped at the end of our stay. Entertainment was excellent when it was on , there was the Riu themed pool parties for younger people but some nights there was nothing on for older people unless you like sitting in the bars. When the entertainment was on it was great and the team provided a great crazy show , we watched a Mexican band, the Three Tenors were excellent, Michael Jackson tribute was good, a latin night was advertised but it turned out to be a band and dancing with the entertainment team to dances they teach in the daytime. If there had been a disco with some music other than club music e.g. soul, motown , pop etc., holidays themed music where over 40s could dance it would have been perfect.
There is no where to walk at night , its about 45 minute walk to the area where CoCo Bongo is but the bus stop is outside the hotel and the service is amazing every 5 minutes and only 14 pesos or 1 dollar it does not matter if you travel 2 stops or 50 stops its 14 pesos. Bring some small notes 10, 20s with you for buses and tipping. Reception staff excellent they will change notes for you and there is a money exchange desk and the concierge will exchange reading books for you. The beautiful white sandy beach is for hotel guests so no sunbed charges and towels provided . Overall this hotel was so comfortable and friendly I would highly recommend it to other travellers . The ferry was 10 minute walk from the hotel so that you could visit all the Islands . TUI reps were excellent and arranged excellent trips to Chichen Itza and Tulum which are both worth doing. There are many shopping centres just a few bus stops away but the shop in the hotel or next door to the hotel have the same sort of gifts without all the hassle same price. I did not like being hassled into the shops in some areas so got all my souvenirs in the hotel or next door or on the trips to the ruins.
I would 100% return to this wonderful hotel lets hope we can have some disco dancing music for older people next time . My first visit to Mexico and I love the Mexican people especially in this hotel.

I have just returned from this absolutely fabulous hotel with nothing but praise from start to finish. We have just returned as a family of nine to what in my opinion was the best ever hotel and destination I have ever experienced. From the time we arrived into this beautiful bright and airy lobby to being processed and given a welcome drink in ten minutes.
Our initial room was on level 2 but having spoken to Monse a wonderful and helpful member of management we were all put on level 8. We occupied four different rooms but all on the same level. Wow what a view and the room was beyond belief. Spotlessly clean with top notch furniture throughout and everything you would come to expect from a 5* establishment including4 optics and a fridge fully stocked with water soft drinks and cans of beer and tonic to go with your favourite optic.
Where to start, I could write a book of 1000 positives and 0 negatives.
The whole complex is absolutely spotless with many many cleaners and gardeners and maintenance personnel.
The gardens, surrounds, beach, sun beds of which are numerous, pools lobby bars, toilets and dining rooms along with wonderful specialist named restaurants serving an amazing variety of food of ALL types to accommodate all tastes in a very cool and well aired atmosphere.
The staff are ALL amazing but there was a few that stood out from the rest and gave you the extra smile and jokes and unparalleled service wasWOOP WOOP Israel and Alberto and to repeat the management of Monse.
There was a couple of times I messed up putting the wrong digit into the room safe which then made it inoperable but once at reception within 10 minutes on each occasion the hotel maintenance member turned up and corrected my mistake (so efficient).
The entertainment team were superb also with every member making you feel welcome but not at all pushy into getting you to join in. Well done.
The pool towels you collect at the end of the day are passed over to you and they are still warm and soft. On leaving the hotel the courtesy rooms were the best ever and full of fresh towels.
My only negative was that I was not there long enough, this is truly an excellent hotel with wonderful evening entertainment and great for ALL age groups.
Well done RIU CARIBE.
Sorry if I have forgotten to mention anyone but my memories and photos will last forever, a very happy and extremely satisfied customer.
