Hotel NYX Cancun earns praise for its spotless rooms and well-maintained beaches, with many guests appreciating the clean environment. Despite mixed reviews on the rooms, with some citing comfort and views as highlights and others pointing out noise and maintenance issues, the hotel often receives compliments for its range of food options and friendly service. However, some visitors express concerns about noise disturbance and feel that the atmosphere can be overly loud. While opinions on value vary, the hotel's prime beachfront location is widely celebrated.

Our stay at hotel NYX was filled with many positives. Overall, we enjoyed the service, location, and food.

Food: The breakfast was offered in a buffet format which was delicious. Variety of cold items, hot items, traditional Mexican food and western food. Loved the fresh fruit and the option to have an omelet made. I think one drawback with the food was that there were limited options throughout the whole day. For dinner and lunch your only option was either one restaurant called the “The Deck” or two specialty restaurants which you’re only allowed to go to for free a certain number of times given your stay. For example, we stayed five nights and could only go to the Italian and Japanese restaurant once. You can book up to one day in advance and the slots also fill up quickly leaving you a possibility of a dinner time at 10pm. In the afternoon you could choose some snack foods like hotdogs and wings but this was only during a certain period. Basically no buffet option after breakfast. You could do room service for an additional charge. The food itself was pretty good but the lack of options throughout the whole day was disappointing.

Entertainment: The hotel offered a variety of entertainment options throughout the day and evening, including yoga, water aerobics and volleyball, karaoke, bead making, etc.

Room and Service: the staff were very friendly and always did a great job cleaning up our rooms. They were always polite and made us feel welcome. We were in the junior suite which featured two beds, one partially closed off with a nice balcony. The rooms we were in were definitely older, however, renovations were underway.

Demographics: During our stay we noticed there were older couples (retirees) and very few young kids. It was very quiet and relaxing. It’s a smaller resort, like 130 rooms so quieter.

Amenities: the gym included several cardio machines, a cable machine and dumbbells up to 30 pounds. It isn’t open 24/7, I believe closed by 8pm. There was no jacuzzi. I think the renovations meant not as many amenities.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. I think more flexibility in food options would’ve made it even better.

Dear 752chrissyd Thank you for taking the time to share your lovely review. We are really happy to read that you had an enjoyable experience at our hotel NYX. We're particularly glad that our breakfast buffet delighted your palate and that you found our service and location to your satisfaction. We understand that you would have preferred more flexibility in our meal options. As part of our All-Inclusive meal plan, we offer breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, and beverages. However, we do have specific requirements for dining at our speciality restaurants as those restaurants do not belong to the hotel, are partnerships - Chianti requires a minimum of 3 nights stays and Teppanyaki requires 5 nights. This may have limited your choices, and for that, we apologize. We're also pleased that you availed of our entertainment options and appreciated our room service. It's great to know that our staff made you feel welcome and comfortable throughout your stay. As for the renovations, we are currently in the process of improving our facilities, and we believe the refurbishments will enhance the overall guest experience. An apology of the inconveniences that this may cause. Once again, thank you for sharing your experience and your valuable thoughts on where we can improve. We continuously strive to provide an exceptional experience for all our guests, and your feedback is very much appreciated. Best regards. Guest Experience Manager.

The experience of staying at the NYX Cancun hotel is exceptional. The hotel is located on the beachfront, the views from the rooms are breathtaking, the service and friendliness of all the staff is second to none. The director, Gian Carlo is always watching the well-being of the guests, Edgar always watching that everything is perfect. Everyone, from reception, to room staff, to room maids, waiters, cooks, first responders, always has the best smile and you feel like you are well received.

The rooms are very well decorated, the beds are huge and very comfortable.

The hotel restaurants deserve separate mention, I don't think there are restaurants of that quality in any other hotel in the area. It has a Japanese restaurant that is the best I have ever tasted, an Italian restaurant always set with the best music that transports you to any corner of Florence and with a smoked carpaccio hmmmmm. Of course there is a taqueria: "Villain Tacos" is also scandalous. In front of the sea there is another restaurant with barbecue on the beach and in the pool (in case something is missing) they make Luxury hot dogs!!

And you can't miss the Spá. It has state-of-the-art facial and body treatment machines so that in addition to relaxing we go even more handsome than we have arrived. Lorena, the Spa Manager, is very friendly and super friendly as well as being a great professional, do not miss massages or treatments.

A few meters from the hotel is a shopping center and if you feel like spending more money, then walking a little more are all the superluxury stores.

100% recommended, it is our second year and we will surely return.

Overall, a lovely beach holiday for 2 weeks at the end of December with very hard-working staff and outdated rooms.

Beach: Was very good with direct service on the beach. The free sun loungers do break your back and your shins when you lie on them, but the hotel management certainly knows that and prefers to invest elsewhere. This definitely needs to be improved in this price category.

Room: We had two rooms because we had to change one because of the smell and both were outdated. But overall it was OK because we were mostly outside.

Location: The location is great if you mainly want to take the bus to the hotel zone to party or walk to a nearby shopping centre. Otherwise you definitely need a car for everything else.

Food: The food was mostly good and the kitchen always tried very hard to produce good food and beautifully presented a la carte dishes. However, the quality often dropped and so the food sometimes looked better than it tasted. This is certainly due to the concept and in this situation not only the starter but also the main course should be offered as a buffet. The a la carte concept usually leads to stressful situations and hecticness when there is understaffing and the waiters are not sufficiently skilled. The concept is also responsible for all tables not being occupied and queues forming in the evening, which is strange when reservations are not possible in the Deck Restaurant anyway.

Breakfast was not varied on any of the 13 days. That means the same program every day.

The other restaurant, Chianti, is only free for all-inclusive guests a few times, but is of much better quality than the Deck Restaurant.

Employees: Special thanks go to one employee (Julio, beach waiter), who stood out for his friendliness, efficiency and attentiveness throughout the entire two weeks. Even when his colleagues neglected their areas, Julio always took the orders on his behalf. We noticed this very positively. Other employees should of course also be mentioned for their reliable and helpful nature, such as Maike (reception) and Mariana (breakfast reception or Deck Restaurant).

Car rental in the hotel: The hotel should only give permission to rent a car to someone or a company in the hotel if they are prepared to proactively provide information to the guest and can also speak English for the purpose of signing the contract. Our hotel-based car rental agent directly opposite reception obviously found it sufficient to point with his finger at a DIN A4 sheet of paper on the right of his counter. That cannot be the basis for a car rental service. In my opinion, the hotel is responsible for every service on its premises/property.

Entertainment: There are a few activities, but they were not important to us. In the evenings, however, there was always 1-2 hours of live music, which was very nice.

I recently stayed at this hotel after a long 20-hour flight. Immediately, the staff tried to sell an upgrade to the room and meal package, but our excitement turned into concern as the first room (501) was located beneath the building, with a loud air conditioner, no windows to open, and a pervasive smell of mold.

After expressing our dissatisfaction, the concierge provided another room, albeit smaller. Unfortunately, it had no windows, just a small glass oblong with a view of the elevator. Akso here ( room 811) The lack of fresh air under the building created a moldy atmosphere, evident even in the wardrobe that was mouldy. The room came equipped with a noisy electric humidifier, its filter visibly covered in mold. The humidifier required frequent emptying, highlighting excessive humidity issues.

Additionally, the air conditioning was unadjustable, fixed to a very cold, the cold and humidity reminiscent of a wine cellar. The bathroom, unfortunately, shared the unpleasant characteristic of a sewage-like smell cery persistent fir the whole stay, you could not leave the door open.
The cleanliness was just below standard, as the shower floor was not cleaned, and the room was a bit dusty. The breakfast offered a good amount of choices, but the quality was definitely below the 5 stars advertised. For example, the eggs, and pancakes freshly cooked were not good, with too much butter and no salt; fruits were always unripe, and the juice tasted like cordial.

The hotel activities were based on blasting loud and annoying music all day, making suitable for very young people who love to party, but there were none at hotel. Only a handful of people, perhaps around 5, seemed to enjoy the constant noise.

The beach is nice and serviced, but please consider that the sea is very wavy in that area. There are not enough bed chairs and umbrellas for all customers, so people go very early to grab the best spots, leaving their towels there for the entire day. Subsequently, you need to hunt for chairs under an umbrella as soon as someone leaves and takes their towel with them.

The area is really in the middle of the hotel zone, very close to the Isla Shopping Centre. However, for the area with restaurants and bars in the hotel zone, you will need a taxi or the bus. Therefore, I do not recommend it. I'm sure there is much better.

We tried to complain and we got brushed off and reading the excuses under other peoplr comments I can't see any improvement coming.

But if you end up here, ask clearly what floor your room is located on and if you can have sunlight and fresh air—no one wants to spend a holiday in a cellar.

Dear Bobbylee70, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable review. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We appreciate your effort for traveling to Cancun and choosing us as your holiday destination. Our front desk staff are in charge of making your check in, giving information and offer upgrades, an apology if this was an inconvenience. You book a Standard unit, those units have a queen size bed, do not have balcony, neither view. Our same front staff offered you a change of room, since the first room was not of your liking. Nonetheless, the change it has to be done on the same room category that you originally book. In case of preferring a Lagoon view room or ocean room view, front desk can assist you with an upgrade. As we are in a tropical area, the humidity it is normal. Nonetheless, our Maintenance team and housekeeping department are always taking care of all of our areas in order to keep them in a perfect shape, so I can assure you that we do not have mold. An apology that you didn't enjoy the quality of our breakfast buffet, normally we receive excellent comments about it. Our entertainment team offers a variety of activities from yoga, boxing lessons, margaritas, salsas or guacamole workshops, games and of course pool activities. If you prefer a type o music, you can always inform them and they will gladly pamper you. An apology if you had difficulty trying to get a sunbed. We have a total of 180 bed chairs for free. There is no enough space on the beach area, to have 1 sunbed per guest. We have a beach and pool rules: it is not possible to “reserve” a bed chair for more than 30 min without use, or our staff will remove all the towels from unused bed chairs at 8am in order to give the opportunity to all of our guest to make use of the sunbeds. This information it is displayed at our pool and beach area. We hope you could give us the opportunity to welcome you back and offer you a better experience. Warmest regards. Guest Experience Manager.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I’ve stayed in hostels with better service and cleanliness.

At check-in, the woman assisting us was lovely, but that was the last of the good service. We arrived early, stored our luggage, and went to eat. When we returned, my friend was aggressively upsold to a “better” room that turned out worse—only thanks to the first helpful staff member did she get an actual upgrade.

The upselling continued with Alfredo from the concierge team, who made inappropriate comments, admitted to drug use, and harassed my friend. He misled us into attending a vacation club seminar in exchange for a comped hibachi dinner and oceanfront cabanas. However, when we arrived at the restaurant, there was no reservation. The signed confirmation meant nothing. Frustrated, we skipped the seminar, only to be interrogated by the concierge team the next morning.

Seeking answers, I spoke with the hotel’s Director, Giancarlo Dell’ Erba. He apologized and promised to make things right, confirming cabana reservations and assuring us he would handle dinner. When we got to the cabanas, a staff member questioned our reservation, and shortly after, Andrea Ugalde, the Guest Experience Manager, arrived and began yelling at us in front of everyone, falsely claiming we had lied. Despite demanding to speak with Giancarlo, he never came. Later, instead of the promised hibachi dinner, we received a reservation for the Italian restaurant that was already included in our stay.

Other major issues: Our junior suite’s floors were so dirty that walking barefoot turned our feet black. The room smelled of mold, and we had to drain the humidifier constantly. Housekeeping never refilled the soap. The bathroom sinks were clogged, and the iron was broken, requiring a request to swap it from another room. At night, a DJ blasted music in the lobby until 1 AM, and we were never warned about the noise. Room service one night never arrived.

The entire stay was a disaster of deception, poor communication, and unprofessionalism. Save yourself the frustration and book anywhere else.

Dear mpmardir Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We genuinely value all guest comments, as they provide us with opportunities to improve our services. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Addressing Your Concerns 1. Upselling Tactics and Room Upgrades: We apologize if our attempts to offer room upgrades came across as aggressive. Our intention is to enhance our guests' experiences by providing options that may better suit their preferences. We are glad to hear that a staff member was able to assist in providing a satisfactory upgrade. 2. Interaction with Concierge Staff: We take allegations of inappropriate behavior very seriously. The described conduct does not align with our standards of professionalism. It’s a shame that you did not mention it when you complained with our General Director. 3. Vacation Club Seminar and Promised Amenities: We understand the frustration arising from unmet expectations regarding the complimentary hibachi dinner and oceanfront cabanas. Our policy requires attendance at a 90-minute presentation to qualify for these perks. Records indicate that this presentation was not attended you walk out from it just 10 minutes after it started; and you didn’t mention this to the director when complaining, we want to think that there was some level of miscommunication and not that you were trying to take advantage of us. However, our General Director extended these benefits but you took not one but two cabanas, our Guest Experience Manager tried to explained that but you didn’t want to listen, at the end to avoid a scene at the beach we let you use them for free.. We regret any miscommunication that led to this situation. 4. Cleanliness and Room Service: We are deeply concerned about the issues you encountered with room cleanliness and undelivered room service. Cleanliness is a top priority, and we are addressing these concerns with our housekeeping team to prevent future occurrences. Our Commitment to Improvement We are committed to learning from this experience and implementing necessary changes to enhance our guest services. Your feedback is invaluable in this process. Thank you once again for being so honest and bringing these matters to our attention. Sincerely, Guest Experience Manager

This Hotel is really a glamorous gem. It is so close to the ocean ! My husband and I booked the sunset suite which is on the lagoon side (absolutely stunning). The rooms and the hallway are all newly renovated, the bathroom was beautiful, had an enormous beautiful shower, and the room was very clean. The food was excellent some of the best I have ever had! The beach service was great and you can always get some nachos, a burger, etc at the beach or the beach restaurant. The beach restaurant has different menu options during the week and they also have an excellent buffet of apps to pick from. The sushi restaurant is incredible! You don't need reservations to go and have sushi every night after 6 pm. Shout out to Isis, Mario, and the excellent chefs at the Sushi restaurant. Beach service was great, Luna and Riger were incredible and really such hard workers! The Magic pool bar and pool were really great and had a mixture of calm quietness and fun. Our room was so close to beach and pool, which I loved. Some things I would recommend would be that you bring your own towels from home for the beach, people get their blue towels from resort and leave them on chairs for hours (never to return) which can become frustrating. Bring a mixture of Mexican Pesos and American dollars (lots of small bills) because it is difficult to get change there and exchange rates can be tricky. I think it would be nice if the hotel had a few more umbrellas/huts on the beach to offer a bit more shade to those who need it. The lobby is really beautiful and kept very clean. There is another beautiful pool on top, which unfortunately doesn't have bar service. Also, everything closes from 5-6 so if you like to eat during that time it can be a bit tricky waiting. I really loved how this resort only had 198 rooms and you just have that feeling of being special. I think that it would be nice if the sunset suite had a bit nicer of a coffee machine so that you could enjoy a really nice coffee from your breathtaking balcony and have a nice coffee in your room before you go to dinner or maybe a really nice coffee station in the lobby where you you could make yourself a coffee/espresso early in the morning or in the afternoon. I also believe it would be nice if they put a little more drinks in your fridge (you receive 2 waters, 2 pops, and 2 beer a day). Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to have a nice calm vacation and an absolutely breathtaking view and location. Food and drinks are an absolute 5/5! The staff is really so friendly! Also this beach is stunning and the water is calm (you can swim almost everyday!) Gracias a ustedes NYX!

Everything here at the hotel was very good. There is a mix of all ages and races but not many families which was nice for us because we are young couples, still family friendly though. The beach is always clean and plenty of chairs. There are two pools and two bars. The bartenders and staff were so kind, be sure to tip. The food was very good and I loved the rotating menu every night. I had an issue with getting dinner reservations because the staff told us different things everytime we asked in terms of what we could do to make them and when. The pool hours are nice and they don’t close until late around 8/9. The rooms were better than the Riu Yucutan rooms for sure, but a little smaller. One of our couples got the standard room which did not have a door to the bathroom… which would not be pleasing to family, friends, or couples. I loved that there were so many umbrellas on the beach to provide a lot of shade if you want it. A lot of people complain about the all inclusive having a top shelf to the bar that is not included in the all inclusive, but I still had great drinks and a great time without the too shelf liquor, though im young so im not too particular on what I am getting drunk off of haha. Shower temperature was always consistent and so was the AC, though the AC did drip a bit onto the floor which wasn’t really a big deal for us. The lifeguards on the beach made me feel much safer going in the water. One of the biggest highlights of my trip was Alejandra’s hotdog station. She makes everything so good they were even better than the street dogs in Los Angeles. Si andas buscando un hotel con salsas ricas aqui estan. Jack at the pool was such a great entertainer. He was kind and led everyone through games and exercises. Overall I would rate it a five star hotel.

This hotel has a lot of steps so be forewarned! A lot of the rooms are very small. We booked with TravelbyJen but the supposed upgrade to a sunset suite was with a view of the lagoon and small. We had to pay extra for an upgrade to a balcony and ocean view which was lovely. Their food is delicious but saying that be forewarned that their buffet only offers whatever their speciality theme is at night. If you don’t like Japanese, Spanish, Mediterranean, etc. then you won’t like it and they have no other options as their other two restaurants on the property are basically booked and the only time available is usually at 10pm! As far as the pool, too small for them to alllow volleyball and aerobics, etc. only other option is a closed in pool with no breeze and no music and nobody goes there. Now for the beach which the “management “ over and over say on this and other sites and with their signs posted that they move towels reserving chairs after 30 minutes or that you can’t put a towel down on a chair before 8 am!! NOT TRUE!! Nobody monitors any chairs! People put towels down early in the morning and they NEVER come back!! They hog the shaded places and it’s very hot there. Not enough of the shaded huts and pool chairs are always tak en as there are only 22 chairs around the pool! We loved the guys serving us, heads up to Carlos and Juan and several others. It if you get a slow server good luck! There is a beach menu but not offered every day. Wings, burger, club sandwich’s, ribs and nachos basically and a few fries thrown in. BUT they don’t offer anything other than the NYX burger at the restaurant! Burgers were raw or so well done you couldn’t eat it. Picky people don’t even bother coming here as their choices are the same at breakfast and lunch every day! They did accommodate our friend who was sick with a stomach virus and delivered soup to his room! We would not come back here as the ocean is extremely rough and we saw a few saves by the lifeguards which they do have here but with the limited options to stay here on the premises for food choices is extremely limited! They need to accommodate EVERYONE for food choices and have a real buffet with other options!

Dear cmassey655 Thank you for sharing your valuable review. We are glad to read that overall, you had a nice stay with us, specially that you had enjoyed the friendly and attentive service that our staff offered you, as well as the good quality of our restaurants. Your book a Sunset suite unit and our sunset suites have 1 king-size bed, and a lagoon view, it was the unit that you were given; Front desk will always offer an upgrade if the options are available. They offer you an Ocean view room, that was a higher category than yours, so a payment has to be done. We are used to receiving wonderful comments regarding the delicious quality and variety of our dishes and restaurants. At the Bellavista restaurant, we offer breakfast buffet, this includes: a variety of fruits, different types of breads, dairy products such as yoghurt and cheese, cold meats, pancakes, jams, cereals, egg dishes, the omelette station, as well as the juice and coffee station. At lunch the Deck restaurant offer à la carte menu with a wide variety of dishes, such as: entrées, salads, soups, wraps, ceviches, rice dishes, steak, fish, chicken, pizzas, pastas, and desserts. For snacks, we have the hotdog cart, our grill hamburger station, chicken wings, fried squid, and more. The Deck restaurant for dinner it has a menu with 6 different main dishes that changes every night regarding the theme menu, it also offers a buffet option that includes: appetizers, cheese station with cold meats and fruits and nuts, different types of breads, pizzas, 3 side dishes, salads, soups and creams, and at least 5 varieties of desserts. We also have 2 specialty restaurants, Umami the Japanese restaurant with Teppanyaki table, and Chianti with Italian cuisine. At our restaurants, our staff will always ask you if you had a food allergy or a dietary restriction, in order to give you a safe and delicious culinary experience. Our chefs are used to work with all types of food allergies and food restrictions, we recommend you to inform our staff, so they can give you a proper service. An apology if you had difficulty trying to get a sunbed. We have a total of 246 bed chairs for free. There is no enough space on the beach area, to have 1 sunbed per guest. As a matter of a fact, there is no hotel in Cancún that has a sunbed per guest. We have a beach and pool rules, on which we had to be firmer, since there is a lack of empathy from the guest this season: it is not possible to “reserve” a bed chair for more than 30 min without use and not before 8am. Our staff will remove all the towels from unused bed chairs at 8am in order to give the opportunity to all of our guest to make use of the sunbeds. This information it is given upon arrival, and it is displayed at our pool and beach area. We do not recommend removing any towel or belonging yourself, please always approach to a beach staff, lifeguard or security team, for them to verify which sunbed has not been used for more than the 30-min estimated time, and they will release the sunbed. Nonetheless, your comments are really important to us, since it helps us to improve our services. We hope you could visit u again, to pamper you even more. Warmest regards. Guest Experience Manager.

Decent hotel for the price. We paid about $300 per night for an all inclusive rate. So expectations weren't too high. Biggest issue was with high winds the power went out for 12 hours. We spent our time at the beach so it wasn't a huge deal, but something to be aware of, as it happens frequently at some of the smaller hotels in Cancun.

The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were pretty nice. It's an older building so it was a little musty in the room and lobby area. One of the best parts of this hotels is it has a great beach location and is not very crowded. We never had to run out to the beach or pool to grab a chair first thing in the morning. The food was not good, would recommend eating at Umami (sushi restaurant onsite) or the taco place out in front of the hotel. Inclusive package drinks were just fine, Modelo on tap, fruity cocktails both frozen and on ice. They don't have much digital infrastructure for reservations at the restaurants onsite, so I would recommend going to the front deck and making reservations at least one day in advance. All-in-all it was an ok experience. I will probably be trying another all inclusive hotel in the area for my next visit.

Dear Matt P, Thank you for sharing your kind review. We are glad to read that overall you had a nice stay with us, specially that you had enjoyed the beauty of our beach area, as well as the delicious quality of our restaurants and bars. Your comments are really important to us, since it helps us to improve our services. An apology for any inconvenience when about the power shortage in the hotel. We do not have the information of what cause the shortage; However, the electricity supplier company inform us that it was a problem in one of the main supplier lines, which affect our hotel and other 4 hotels. Although, we can have a power down for a couple of minutes or a couple of hours when the weather it is extremely rough, this situation has never happened before. We are sorry for this inconvenience; even though it was beyond our hands. We hope you could give us the opportunity to welcome you back, and pamper you even more. Warmest regards. Guest Experience Manager.

First time staying at an all inclusive hotel and it was honestly absolutely wonderful. Me and my sister stayed in a junior suite and it was nice and spacious with a good sized balcony overlooking the ocean.

The food and drinks were fantastic. Breakfast includes omelet bar, continental options, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, pastries etc. Lunch is soups salads and sandwiches. Dinner is themed each night and there are buffet and menu options. Trust me you won't be hungry.

The beach is just steps from the pool and there are plenty of chairs. White sand and gradual slope to the ocean. There are spa services right on the beach if you want too.

The hotel also offers amenities and activities such as yoga, volleyball, live music, bracelet making and dancing. The staff are extremely helpful(stefany, jair, rodrigoo, oscar), courteous and fun!

I would definitely recommend this place based on the price, location and amenities if you are looking for quiet vacation on the beach with no worries. Relax and have fun!
