I have stayed at many places in Mexico and have never come across a place like this. It isn't just that the views are beautiful and Oscar and Silvia are so warm and helpful. This place has a soul. A very warm and welcoming soul. Any little problems this property has, are easily overcome by its spirit. The beds are... More

Thanks, Samantha! As the new owners of this fabulous place, we are excited about the possibilities. We are lucky to have Oscar and Silvia staying on. We have been fixing a lot of the little issues and taking care of the small amount of deferred maintenance that Sherry and Stan, the fantastic folks we bought Casa de las Palmas from.... More

It was a disappointment, not bad, but still a disappointment. The place is definitely nice and charming, has a good location and boasts a nice garden. But the room lacks the personal touches you would expect from a Bed & Breakfast; like a fresh flower, a fruit, a special soap (instad of some random Head & Shoulders product), something that... I sincerely regret that this client had this experience. These clients arrived Sat. evening at the height of Semana Santa (Holy Week) and left Monday. The reason they did not see Oscar and Silvia is because Sunday is the staff''s only day off. They normally work 6 days a week from about 8:30 to 4. Even so they often stay... More

First the good- great location, lovely garden (though with no chairs) and Oscar and Silvia were extremely helpful. They were, in fact, the best part of staying here. The place is tired, could use some fresh paint and attention to things like the shower head being half blocked. The sign over the door says that it is For Sale which... More

I regret that this client's experience was not as positive as our usual guests. I immediately talked to Oscar, our property manager, and he was as puzzled as I was by some of the comments in this review. We have out-door patio furniture on all our patios and balconies. As far as breakfast is concerned I clearly state on our... More

We rented to main house for a one night stay. We were a family of four (Wife & I and 2 small children) and a friend of ours who was traveling with us. I'm not sure I can add more to the previous positive reviews, except to say that this place is special and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The... More

We decided to rent a house rather than stay in a hotel and I'm so glad we did. Oscar and Silvia are very kind and hospitable. The house was immaculate and very comfortable (we had a hard time leaving). If you visit Taxco (which I highly recommend), stay here! We have 2 children, ages 9 and 17, and they both... More

My stay in the main house was one of many highlights of my visit to Taxco. The owners, Sherry and Stan, answered all my enquiries prior to my visit from Australia and the welcome and attention given by the on-site managers, Oscar and Silvia and their young son, was second to none. As a solo traveller I felt safe and... More

I live in Mexico and I can tell you that the price is worth it! The house is wonderful, it's the perfect spot to visit Taxco. We rented the house at 4 people, it was really the perfect plan, don't hesitate! You'll be welcomed by Oscar, a very nice guy. I don't find negative things to say (price, location, decoration,... After having traveled all over colonial Mexico, my boyfriend and I decided to try out Taxco together. I had only been one time as a child, many years prior but I found Casa de las Palmas on the same day we decided to travel to Taxco. It looked too perfect, too good to be true! The reviews were great and... More

Oscar speaks English, is helpful and seems eager to please. He's available as a driver and tour guide, a necessity with the narrow, steep streets of Taxco. Silvia is great cook. At Casa de las Palmas we do our best to accommodate clients and respond to any complaints. Some clients are more challenging than others. This particular client demanded a refund for one night because she arrived and a trash liner had been left out of a bathroom waste basket. (Silvia, our housekeeper was unable to be at work that day... More

We enjoyed our stay at La Casa de las Palmas. The house is full of unique treasures and was fun to explore. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We enjoyed the view from the terrace and we enjoyed the quiet, peaceful atmosphere.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A tranquil oasis in the heart of Taxco, Casa de las Palmas offers Colonial charm and elegance just steps away from the main Zocolo and Taxco's famous silver and crafts shopping. An early 19th Century Main House and early 20th Century art studio turned antique-filled suite surrounding gorgeous private gardens, antiques from around the world, and panoramic views from multiple terraces and roof decks of the city are yours to enjoy, and a pampered alternative to hotels. The compound has hosted a veritable who's who of the "Lost Generation", being the long time home of artist Clinton King, whose first wife, Lady Duff-Twysden, was Hemingway's model for "Lady Brett" in "The Sun Also Rises". His second wife, Narcissa Swift, was memorialized in her friend Georgia O'Keefe's famous painting "Narcissa's Last Orchid". Rivera, Siquieros, Kahlo, and Faulkner are confirmed visitors and many others rumored to have enjoyed our ambiance. Library/office off master bedroom, carved stone fireplaces in living room and bedrooms, wireless internet access, flat screen TV's, cable, and extensive DVD library are here for you to enjoy. Oscar and Silvia, Casa de Las Palmas' attentive managers, are here to make your stay a memorable one. Fresh flowers on arrival, daily continental breakfast, a welcome bottle of tequila, and bottled water are included in your price. Silvia will prepare delicious full breakfasts and private meals in the courtyard or on the veranda for an extra cost. Want beer, rum, snacks, or mixers? Let us know when you book and we will make sure your accommodations are stocked to to your liking when you arrive. Oscar is also a very knowledgeable guide to ruins, caverns, and various workshops in the area and is happy to provide this service to you at a very reasonable rate. ... more   less

“The largest of the three units has a terrific veranda overlooking Taxco. Oscar has a small SUV and will pick you up when you arrive by bus. He also can drive you (for a fee) to the fabulous ancient site, Xochimilco, which is 75 minutes away.”
