Lovely owner, good breakfast. Only complaint is that the bed was too hard, but I bought an air mattress for this year's stay. Can't wait to see Magdalena and Lupita, the parrot. Very much looking forward to it.

Carlos and Concepcion have a beautiful home in the best location in town. Everything you could ever need or want to see is a short walk away. They immediately made me feel right at home and offered great advice on places to go and things to do in the region. It was the perfect balance of privacy and social activity,...

I, our adult daughter, my husband, and all of us combined, at various times--have lived at Casa Giron on our numerous visits to Oaxaca. I say "lived" because that is how the expansive compound of buildings, surrounding a central green courtyard and palapa--contributes to a feeling of being part of the extended Giron family. Many visitors to Casa Giron come...

Every year since 2001 I have spent the winter at Casa Giron. Visitors to Oaxaca often wonder what is behind those big doors at the entrance to private homes but for most it remains a mystery. However, the Giron family happily provides an opportunity for you to learn about the real Mexico while staying in their tranquil haven . No...

A quiet paradise, wonderful family, inexpensive. I want them to adopt me. I cant wait to go back. You can jump down to Calle Macedonio Alcalá, a wide, walking street to watch people and grab a bite to eat. Shopping for local arts, museums, historic churches and other interesting sites are nearby. go back to Casa giron for a nap...

Casa Giron is a delightful and economical place to stay in the central historic district of Oaxaca City. A different Oaxacan breakfast dish is served every morning. The hosts Conception and Carlos are friendly and very accommodating in regards to food preferences. They are also patient for those of us trying to speak Spanish. Although not fancy, rooms are large...

Centrally located, excellent value for money with individual rooms per person. The rooms itself are basic but there is a cleanliness to the place and the hostess is wonderful and helpful in every way. Her breakfast is also very good and it is like staying with a family in a home. It isn't a luxury stay but if you are...

This is a comfortable and easy-going place five or six blocks from the Zoc on one of the quieter streets in the neighborhood. It’s pretty informal (there is a ridiculously little dog running around, a couple tropical birds, and a pair of turtles) so if you need a new towel every day, move on. But the place is clean, there...

The Giron family is so sweet here. The host mother, Magdalena, is amazing. She cooks a great breakfast, and she has been very helpful in getting taxis and giving me advice on local trips. If she has time, she will even pick you up and drop you off at the airport. This is a busy household that consists of turtles,...
