Very interesing decor, especially I've visited it at the Dia de los muertos. But lack of hot water (sic!) and horrible traffic noises outside the window was horrible. Value for money. In plus - pretty good service.

Spent 4 nights here. Good location, close to market, tons of food booths, ADO ticket office and most transport options going out of town (including Monte Alban). Walking distance to Zocalo and main pedestrian street of city. Comfortable, clean rooms, well maintained. Pretty quiet. Helpful staff, accepted my early check-in.

Emilio and Marta Escobar, the owners/operators, are warm, helpful people. The hostel is centrally located, and as noted in another review, buses to Monte Alban and to the outlying cemeteries (we visited during the Day of the Dead festivities) are across the street. Tickets for the tours can be bought at the reception/office. Shared kitchen facilities are available, although we...

Lovely hostel, loved the decoration in it, the attention to the smallest details, and the owner playing jazz music on a Saturday morning. I'd go back if once again in Oaxaca and I definitely recommend it.

We stayed here for two nights in June (2014) the owners/hosts are very friendly and gave us great advice on where to go and where not to go. Our room was great with a clean shared bathroom. Right opposite the hostel is Hotel Rivera de angles where you get the shuttle to monte alban for 60 pesos. Food markets are...

The owner Emilio is really friendly and helpful. The hotel feels really safe with a gate that remains locked at all times and only guests can enter. The room is very clean with a fan, safety deposit box and water provided. We had a shared bathroom there are 2 separate rooms each with toilet and shower so wasn't a problem....

We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom for 5 nights, the entire place is clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are kept immaculate! The hosts are very helpful and kind and gave us plenty of directions and recommendations. Located in downtown, a short walk to the Market and the Main Square.

I stayed here 6 nights on a working holiday, the room was very clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable and even big enough to include a table and armchair. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and brought me coffee early every morning while I was working! The wifi signal is excellent. The shared bathroom was okay for the first few...

I booked into this hostale for 2 nights in February 2014, and chose it because of the reviews I read here. I can only echo what most people say - Emilio and Marta are lovely, very helpful, full of information - just ask and they will recommend where and what to eat, I followed up their recommendations and was pleased...

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in December 2013. We might choose here again if we haven't happened to know the ugly attitude of old owner couple. First of all, I understand why many people recommended this hotel. It has nice rooms, clean and cozy. And the cleaning ladies are so hardworking to make the rooms neat....

“If you cannot find any other option to stay in Oaxaca except this hotel, please choose any rooms here with attached bath. And book early morning or lunch time transportation for your next destination. In this way you can minimize the contact with the owner, and might be able to enjoy your stay.”
