Dickinson Guest House is a great place to stay. I love it and i will come back for the following reasons: James is a wonderful host, friendly, hospitable and speaks English. Leo, bussiness partner, is bilingual (speaks English and Spanish). They serve great breakfast every morning. They have fast internet, free local and and long distance calls to the USA.... More

Thank you Nury for the kind review. When I mentioned to you that the popularity vote on Trip Advisor does not mean that my mostly high marks make me popular, but do actually show the fact that reviews are in fact very important to even stay on the map!! I have had a good year-and it is people like you... More

We stayed at the Dickinson Guest House in August 2015 and enjoyed the warm hospitality of John and his staff. Our group occupied several rooms of the house which is very clean and comfortable, and is well located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Jim and his staff were very friendly... More

Centrally located in a quiet neighbourhood with a nice park near by. Great dining a short walk away as well. Very relaxing atmosphere. I felt like I was at home. We got lots of relevant information about Mexico and Guadalajara from Jim. I have allergies and Jim went above and beyond to accommodate my particular dietary needs. Will definitely be... More

We stayed at the Dickinson Guest House for three nights in late Feb 2016. Jim is a wonderful host, he cooked us a special (and delicious) breakfast as my husband cannot eat dairy, he really went above and beyond. The room was comfortable, the linens were fabulous and the Internet was very fast which is important to us as we... More

I visit Guadalajara a few times a year and Dickinson Guest House is my personal favorite in Guadalajara. The rooms are very unique and nicely decorated. The location is in a peaceful neighborhood and I like the fact that the owners aren't the type that seem to be in your business. James is very helpful with information to get around... More

I thank you very much Beverly for the nice review. I know how busy you are when travelling and I especially appreciate the fact that you noticed that it is very easy for all of us here to know when a guest prefers the comfort of home-but without unnecessary chit chat or snoopy overkill- that frankly is the reason many... Frankly, we did not have overly high expectations for the Dickinson Guest House...we were greatly and pleasantly surprised! The location, in our opinion, is the best choice in Guadalajara. Located in a lovely up-scale neighborhood, blocks from a great variety of restaurants and canteens, the home is well maintained and furnished. Our room (with balcony) was equipped with all the... I am presently staying in the charming Dickinson Guest House with the best possible hosts in the leafy, safe colonia of Chapilita. I am being thoroughly spoiled by the owner James who knows the exact balance of chatting & assisting guests with discreetly making himself invisible. We very much enjoyed our stay at Dickinson Guest House! Our room could not have been lovelier, complete with an outdoor terrace overlooking the peaceful street. The B&B sits in a graceful residential neighborhood, a short ride from the historic center of Guadalajara. But the immediate neighborhood itself is worth exploring as well, as we enjoyed strolling its peaceful streets... More

It was fun hosting you in Guadalajara after your week long vacation in Mexico City, Bob and Juan. It was a good time to wind down a bit before heading back to the states. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dickinson Guest House , within walking distance to the Guadalajara Expo Center is a favorite for business travelers that would like to save on the exorbitant luxury hotels in this area, and groups of friends or families that want to have the safety and privacy of a gated home that is still minutes away by private driver, to the Historical sites; yet quiet at night for a great rest before the next days adventure. This large home is located in a nice and well known neighborhood of Chapalita, not to be confused with the very large Lake Chapala area that is nearly an hours' drive away. It does in fact make an excellent day trip, being the largest body of water in the country. The neighborhood is well maintained and calmer area with wide sidewalks, surrounded with several beautiful and well maintained public parks, allowing safe walks day or night- or for dining in around 30 restaurants- for all pocketbooks- most within walking distance. This is a self contained area with good grocery stores and fashion malls for those interested in those pastimes. We also have a shortcut to the very enjoyable towns of Tlaquepaque and Tonala, home of many artisan shops that are nearby. Our business services for the traveler that needs fast internet service will be surprised to experience speeds that are faster than any hotel in the city, at 100 mbps and a new AC router to keep up with the demands of the modern traveler- for fast internet throughout the property with no lag time, even with video streaming, teleconferencing, or gaming on multiple 2.4 and 5 gig channels at the same time. We also offer 2 well secured wireless printers to use while here, for specific directions to a meeting place- or just to print out your boarding pass home if you are travelling light, to save so much time at the airport. We want our guests to feel at home from their arrival. You will be greeted, given a tour and handed keys to the gates, front entryway and separate private room keys, so your guests can come and go at will. The full kitchen will be a place for those who enjoy cooking for a group or for themselves. It is also has plenty of storage space for beverages and snack foods for those who prefer eating out at great restaurants.Private cooks or catering needs are available with advance notice. Maid service is included in the cost of rental. Come and feel the difference of the personal touches and amenities offered, while enjoying your privacy that is very much part of your wanting a private home. There are several spaces in this large property to enjoy your friends or colleagues while visiting this vibrant city. Now that the business meetings and conventions are closeby, this would be the perfect alternative to up to 6 or 7 single guests or 4-5 couples on a stop-over visit to the Monarch retreat in Michoacan and other worthwhile cities to visit while in this friendly country. If you are travelling as a group, why pay the high prices of separate hotel rooms when you can have a private room in a house and still be with colleagues or family? If you are looking for a week-end in the city-coming from Vallarta or Nayarit, it is a perfect location. We offer our Uber account to shuttle you around the city with drivers who know where they are going and do not overcharge. Their rates are actually half that of an already low taxi ride. Wherever you stay- welcome to the historical city of Guadalajara, and its many surrounding towns and villages. Hotel room-- private home for much less-you decide. Let us know how we can make your vacation or business trip exactly what you need or want while visiting Guadalajara, so we can have it set up and leave you alone. We are always just a phone call away from our free in-house phone service. ... more   less
