For the seasoned traveler familiar with the disappointments of U.S. “chain hotels”, Garden Designer Robert Clark’s inspired and hand wrought oasis in the heart of historic, colonial Guadalajara is a necessary experience. Robert says, “guests come for a week and sometimes stay for a month, others, for a year”, eloquently expresses the feel and mood of his “hotelito”, Las Sabilas....

This is an amazing oasis right in the middle of a big city. The wonderful garden and pool are surrounded by just a few guest rooms all beautifully decorated with local color and art. It's a "one of a kind" and well worth the price.

I really hate to tell anyone else about this place, but they deserve the praise. This is a amazing place right in the heart of Guadalajara (funky real neighborhood just blocks from the center). The gardens are stunning, the buildings/rooms are gorgeous, and Bob the owner is the perfect friendly, bright, low-key and interesting host. They seemed to love our...

As the online photos prove, Bob is a famous California garden designer and uses his Mexico properties to experiment. The result is a tropical paradise right in the historical center of Guadalajara. And yes, the hummingbirds zoom in and out. There's the pool for cooling off (May is hot season!) and the gazebo for relaxing. The guests can use the...

I was surprised to find such an inviting apartment in a working class neighborhood. Even more surprising was finding beautiful birds and butterflies obviously attracted by the skills of Bob Clark's vegetation. Looking forward to staying there again.

This is an amazing property. I am not sure whether to call it a "boutique hotel", a guest house, a garden inn, or ? Located right in downtown Guadalajara, this is the creation of the well-known garden designer Bob Clark. As you might imagine, the grounds are fantastic. And I mean that in every sense of the word. I have...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located a few blocks north of the cathedral and main plazas, in the historic center of Guadalajara. Our property is "tourist class" and the location is typical of local working-class neighborhoods. We boast exceptional gardens and outdoor living spaces. Our facilities are eclectic and somewhat bohemian, as opposed to "business class" or luxury accommodations; we enjoy a high rate of returning visitors among our guests. ... more   less
