Only stayed a couple of nights at the Grand Miramar but what sticks with me most beyond the good food, drinks, accommodations and ocean views is the welcoming staff. From the moment of pulling up to checkout, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The place is perched on the side of a mountain that offers amazing sunset views. I once lived in San Francisco but road up has those hills beat. The cobble stone road way is identical to that in Centro, not allowing you to drive too fast. The remodeled room was good size with a nice balcony. Very nice lower level pool and rooftop pool with several seating options to take in the sun and just relax. Highly recommend.

Beautiful & relaxing place with great service & Excellent views of the ocean, mountains, sunset & jungle. Mario (bellboy), Hector (security), and everyone was Great - they helped make our stay enjoyable. The food was delicious. This place has 4 swimming pools & a jacuzzi. Rooftop infinity pool & rooftop bar & restaurant with awesome views. Views from all the rooms!! It's nestled against the jungle of the mountain range & only 7 minutes from downtown so it's Tranquil & Serene here :) There is a free shuttle service to take & pick you up from downtown. If you want to relax, luxuriate & have attentive, friendly service in a stylish and gorgeous place then this is the place for YOU :) Muy bonito lugar, con buen servicio, y TODOS Muy Amables. Muchas gracias Grand Miramar!! Hasta La Proxima Visita :)

Beautiful, yes. Honest, not so much. Many months ago, I looked into staying here, and kept watching prices. Eventually, I was contacted by a guy offering me a “better deal since it was the end of the month”. An incredible offer! $693 for 4 nights! I wrote down details the room I reserved, hot tub on the balcony, corner suite vs. another room that I had no for, but no interest in. The corner suite It would be on floors 4-8…. That’s what I was promised. When we left for the trip, I took one last look at my notes -thought I should bring them- but chose to leave them behind. This was going to be one of the nicest rooms we had ever reserved and were really looking forward to it. Upon arrival, granted kindly by all. Ricardo grabbed our luggage, led us to check in where Fernanda assisted. We were informed our room wasn’t ready, but we finished the paperwork, and within minutes room was ready. Ricardo made mention how nice the room was, and once we arrived - 9th floor- we were amazed at how big the room was. Huge. It had a kitchen, which was never mentioned nor was it needed. I went straight out to the patio. Everything else didn’t matter. Where is the hot tub? In the bathroom he said. Ummm it’s supposed to be on the patio. If it’s in the bathroom then it’s a bathtub. Someone I NEVER use on vacation…. Why? Because it’s in the bathroom! I informed him, that’s isn’t the room that I had reserved, and he told us they physically don’t have a room like that. Corner suite/with hot tub on balcony. I was upset, tears, (it’s my bday, and I hate being taken advantage of). He said we could go back down and check out the other options- well I’m not paying anymore and if they don’t have what I wanted what’s the point. This interaction wasn’t worth getting into a fight or causing my sweetheart to feel like I’m the one in the wrong. I didn’t want to be “that girl”. Trip didn’t start well. It was a BIG room, but a nice room? Not in my opinion- I looked around and saw things I was paying for that I didn’t need. A cheaper room would have been just fine if I wasn’t receiving the hot tub on the balcony. At this point, I was ready to cancel my spa appt that I had reserved for my bday and not give them another dime, but I didn’t. (I should have- it’s the worst spa I’ve been to at any resort, anywhere- treatment was just okay). Next day, trying to put in a good face, we go down to the breakfast that not only Ricardo said started at 7 or 7:30 but so did Fernanda. Not remembering which it was because each one of them said something different, we went down at 7:30. We were doing the walking tour and had to meet the guy downtown at 9am. Well…. Turns out, they don’t begin breakfast until 8. Again, I’m upset. Yes, it’s a little thing but Again, tell your guest accurate information. Poor time- here’s where I gave an extra star. No fighting for Pool chairs!! This is a HUGE deal! Because it’s not all inclusive, you don’t have to snag a chair in the wee early hours. We went down at noon ish and had no problem getting chairs. This was the busiest day and there must have been 12 people at one of the three pools. Crazy! That alone is worth staying, but as I was floating, a lovely couple from FL asked me if we had experienced a strong arm sales pitch to upgrade our room. No, that didn’t happen to us. It happened to them, they were shown a room on the 8th floor…. Corner suite, with hot tub on the balcony for an additional $85/night!! That got me spinning again. Basically, all I can imagine is that my offer was such a great offer they didn’t want to honor it! How rude!! Dinner the second night was at the hotel. He had enjoyed dinner there before- two years earlier and were looking forward to the value, view, and how delicious it was. Not this time. And about 1/3 higher in price. Would we go there again? Yes, and get an inexpensive room. Just that simple - but to sell something you’re not willing to offer….. yeah, not appreciated. I live PV! I have always had known labs of purchasing there, but this trip was the worst trip and don’t think I will be back for many, many years. The fact that no on ever addressed after check in to see if I was happy, was unprofessional. To sell something at a price you didn’t want to offer, unprofessional. Sooo disappointed…. as every time I saw an promo on Facebook I continued to give props and a count down “be there soon”… Upon returning, I grabbed my notes and double checked… yup! Everything I was told was what I expected… and room should have been on floors 4-8. That fact is they gave us a higher floor thinking it would make up for everything they weren’t honoring. So disappointed-ruined my birthday- and they knew it and did nothing.

If you want to be pampered maybe you should go to an All inclusive! There is no question it is a little out of the way, but its a $5 cab ride to town and we walked almost every day. The rooms are great with amazing views! You can order breakfast or have the buffet and it is very good. Rooftop restaurant is a bit expensive but very good. I would definitely recomend this Hotel

A disappointing hotel can really put a damper on your trip, and the Grand Miramar certainly did that. We came to PV hoping to have an amazing, hang-out-at-your-resort-relax-and-sip-cocktails-by-the-pool experience. We wanted a wonderful respite away from the fray of the city. Instead, we found largely terrible service, terrible cocktails, mediocre to terrible food, and noise. Lots of noise, everywhere. THE ROOM - I will say that the room itself was large and, for the most part, comfortable. The bed was nice and firm, and the pillow was very high, which for me, was perfect. (My friend, however, said it hurt her neck.) It was generally clean. On the downside, many things didn't work properly, including the sliding bathroom door. There was also an issue with towels and robes. For some reason, even though they were hanging in the bathroom, housekeeping kept taking them and not replacing them. Overall, we made many calls to housekeeping and guest services to have things fixed / delivered / replaced (and often, those calls went unheeded and we had to call again.) Earplugs were needed every night / early morning from the noise in the hallways (staff walking by with loud walkie-talkies, carts rumbling by, guests yelling to each other down the hall) and loud music outside. THE PROPERTY - The property itself was quite disappointing. From the photos it looked glorious. There is, in fact, one glorious place on the property--the adults-only rooftop pool. It's lovely. And loud. And crowded. It's a small pool, and everyone wants to be there. There isn't nearly enough seating for everyone. Several people were sitting on the ground on towels, which was nuts because we weren't even there at a busy time of year. The downstairs pools, to me, looked like they belonged at someone's somewhat low-end condo. Kind of depressing. The lobby and breakfast room were the same. Kind of depressing. Cheap. Because there was no seating on the roof, I sat by the shaded downstairs pool for two hours one day, and it smelled like trash or sulphur or something... I finally left when the jackhammering started... THE SERVICE - With a few exceptions (like the men who helped you get a taxi each day and Daniel (?) in the breakfast room), the service was astonishingly bad. If you needed something, it often required two phone calls. Sometimes three. The fitness center was always "off" in the morning (no A/C, no power to the machines, empty water cooler) which was insane in the oppressive heat and humidity). No one came by at the pool to ask if we wanted drinks. When we had a medical emergency in the middle of the night, guest services was unreachable. And on the day we were to check out, we had been throwing up all night from some kind of stomach bug and were still feeling horrible. We had no idea what time check out was because the room had no booklet with a hotel overview. We called to request late checkout (our flight wasn't until 4:30pm) and they said they we had to be out of the room no later than 11:30am. I talked to five different people and explained our health situation and the timing of our flight, and they were utterly unsympathetic. We explained that we would have to sit in the lobby (the only place with A/C) after we checked out for hours, potentially still vomiting. The manager I spoke to was pretty much like "fine," and literally offered us plastic bags that we could puke into while we sat there. Finally, he offered us a later checkout if we paid a fee. It was just... INSANE. THE FOOD - Yeah, just don't eat here. Breakfast was okay, but don't pay for food here, whether at the pool "snack bar" or at Eugenia. (See my separate review.) THE WATER SITUATION - The hotel allots you two small bottles of Kirkland water per room per day, delivered with turndown service. If you need more, you "can order it from room service" for a whopping $6.50 / bottle + delivery fee + tip. So on the day you arrive, you'd best get into a taxi down the horrific cobblestone hill (like maybe a 5 minute very bumpy drive to get to the main road) to go to the XOXO market and get yourself a big jug of water lest you get very dehydrated. GETTING INTO TOWN - It's not terribly far from the Romantic Zone--maybe a 10 minute taxi ride--and there are always taxis available at a moment's notice which is nice, but half the ride is VERY, VERY, bumpy and windy. If you experience motion sickness, this will be a nightmare for you. We could only handle one trip into town per day, and neither of us is prone to motion sickness. We paid a total of about $200 / night for our room, and it still felt like too much for what we experienced here. This is not a good hotel. It's not luxurious. It's an aging, poorly managed, ill-situated (except for the view), ruin-your-entire-trip kind of place. We didn't feel cared for at all, and when you go on vacation, you just want to relax and feel taken care of.

Update: We’re on day six now and I have to say things have gotten so much worse that I felt the need to provide an update. This is easily the worst experience we have had in 20+ years of travelling. Here are a couple recent examples: Our room key has not worked for each of the six days so far when we come back from the pool. At first, they told us it’s because we were keeping it next to a cell phone or wallet. For two days now, I haven’t taken my wallet or cell phone to the pool and it still keeps happening. Rather than try to fix the issue, they just keep issuing new cards. I wasn’t feeling well last night so we put the do not disturb sign up and didn’t get turn down service - no problem. They do leave two bottles of water each night, so I asked this morning for them. I was rudely told that they couldn’t given us any and we had to wait until tonight. I mean, it’s a bottle of water and I can easily buy one, but it just goes to show they couldn’t care less about their guests. Given all their short comings, I would absolutely NOT recommend staying at this hotel. I was convinced by all the good reviews, but clearly there has been a tremendous shift for the worse. There are simply far too many other options in PV. ********* It's currently our third day here and I'll admit we've been disappointed, participating with the lack of service. We had read very positive reviews, so we were looking forward to staying here. For example, we have gone out of our way to say hello/good morning to the staff and it's either not reciprocated or it has been a very lukewarm response. There is just an overall lack of enthusiasm and friendliness. The staff walks around with their heads down as if they are avoiding eye contact with the guests. We speak fluent Spanish, so it's definitely not a language barrier. The staff at breakfast is also so busy that they don't take any time to great you/remember you, and everything feels very rushed. At the pool, it took more than 1 hour for someone to come by to ask if we wanted a drink, and dirty towels stay on the cabanas for as long or more after someone leaves. It hasn't all been negative; the person who checked us in, housekeeping, and the doorman have been great. The views are also excellent. It's just not anywhere near the level of a 5-star (or really even a 4-star) hotel based not only on the service, but also how dated the property is. The common areas and rooms could definitely use a good renovation. If you can get a good deal and don't mind dealing with these flaws, it may be worth it for you. We just expected more, as our previous trips to Mexico have been always been exceptional - particularly the service.

I have stayed here many many times. Hotel is ok with a good location. I planned on returning and had a reservation from Dec. 3-6 for two rooms that I made directly on the hotel website. The terms listed were: Reservations canceled 3 days or more prior to the date of arrival -> without penalty. I was charged on my credit card $1,234.30. In canceling this I have been told I must pay a fee of $41.52 and will not receive my credit for 30 days. DO NOT BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THIS HOTEL

We arrived the day Hurricane Lidia was due to arrive, and were unable to reach our final destination due to port closure. Grand Miramar is up on a mountainside and was a good place to weather the hurricane when it hit. It also happens to be located within a Home Owners Association, which we found increased the feeling of safety as well as the speed of clean up post-hurricane. The facilities are beautiful, and back right up against the jungle, giving us a wide variety of natural sounds as well as sighting colorful birds (including parrots). The views were extraordinary and there are four pools plus a warm jacuzzi to enjoy. We stayed two nights, left, and then ended up coming back for another 5 nights because we liked it so much. Despite the lovely location and facilities, the staff were by far the best part of Grand Miramar. The bellmen, Luis, Salvador, Mario, Alberto, and Luis Jr were beyond exceptional. They were kind, helpful, friendly, and offered directions and suggestions on restaurants, beaches, etc. Salvador and Luis we got to know a bit better and appreciated the conversations we had with them. The breakfast staff were attentive and cheerful, maids were friendly and thorough, and we overall enjoyed our interactions with the staff.

My husband and I stayed at Grand Miramar for 3 nights, starting the evening that Hurricane Lidia hit the area and we were extremely impressed with the courtesy and concern the entire staff had for their guests. From the moment we arrived, everyone who works at Grand Miramar was kind and attentive. A special thank you to our bellhop, Roberto, who made us feel at ease with the whole situation. Our room was pristine and very comfortable and the views were incredible. Because it was still considered low season, not all of the restaurants and bars were open, so our choices were limited. Unfortunately, the food was the only negative, as it was a little overpriced for the quality, as far as we were concerned. I would imagine that would be different if we had been there at a different time of the year.
