Detailed Reviews
This is a hotel with potential given its location and the outstanding service from its staff. However, as of yet, the potential is unrealized. This is an old building that was recently acquired by Dreams. They have renovated some rooms but not all. The renovated rooms are quite beautiful.. the non renovated rooms are spacious but somewhat rusty and the showers are quite old. The AC on some of thr units works at about 60% capacity. Similarly, they have renovated or rebuilt new restaurants and a coffee place. Those are nice. But the hotel overall still feels old. The elavators could use a facelift, as do the swimmin pools. If everything is renovated to the standard of the new rooms and new areas, the hotel would be a magnificent all inclusive in beautiful Acapulco. A great getaway for families looking to stay inside for a nice time. Drinks and food were pretty good and water bottles available all the time. The minibar (not the best quality in the "old" rooms) is fully stacked with soda, beers and water.
The food at Portofino and Trattoria was our favorite. The service throughout the hotel was outstanding - particularly concierge Betty, El Pescador's captain Michel, La Ceiba's waiter Juan and Portofino's waiter Roy.
They advertise a "state of the art gym" which consists of a very old room with old equipment that just looks sad.
Small details can be improved too. Low hanging fruit in my opinion, such as their daily activity planner (displayed on the elevators). It contains grammar errors and a very boring design.
My main criticism is that their webpage features the new rooms, a new spa (not even open yet) and only the new areas. I found it deceiving and not reflective of the current reality of the Hotel. Future state? Pehaps. But many of us booked based on the pictures of the new rooms and new areas and in that regard, I was dissapointed.
If they invest enough to truly renovate this old building, they have the service quality to make it a great addition to their chain.

I booked this vacation for my husband and I after reading numerous reviews.
We booked the Preferred Club Oceanview room and were not disappointed at all. Our room is one of the nicest we’ve stayed in. We got a junior suite with a separate living area and bathroom. Two balconies overlooking Acapulco Bay with outstanding views of the city.
The service at the hotel is excellent. Shout out to Jesus and Hazael at the bar beside the Pescador restaurant. All of the stay were very friendly and accommodating.
The beach is beautiful and I should mention that the beach in this part of the bay is better as the water is calmer with not as much of an undertow as in town.
There are two pools that are well maintained and we’re always busy. It would be nice if there was a swim up pool bar.
The hotel is situated in the better part of town and we walked the strip at both night and day and did not feel unsafe.
There are many Mexicans that stay in Acapulco, especially on the weekends so the hotel gets quite busy. There were also a few corporate conferences during our stay so in the evenings the bar areas were full.
Overall we had no issues with the food. The a la carte restaurants were good. Liked that it was first come first serve - no reservations required. Breakfasts were catered more to Mexicans but also had an egg station, pancakes, cereals, etc.
Overall, I recommend staying here. Good value for your money.

I came with my friends to this hotel for weekend. We were confident because it’s part of the Dreams brand but we think that there are some points that might improve for the guest’s experience. For example, the service in restaurants is very slow because there are not enough staff. Some places of the hotel looks old, there is not enough snacks in bars, and the staff, although is kindly, some times they don’t know info about activities in the resort. Finally, restaurants has gluten free options but the staff don’t know.

I've been staying at this property for many years, but recently it was taken over and became an all inclusive. At first I was hesitant, but overall my stay was excellent. They've kept most of the former staff who've we have enjoyed over the years and added a lot of new training and customer service.
Paulina has assisted me with bookings and speaks perfect American English which is helpful for those who can't speak Spanish. She's always positive and passionate about the hotel and Acapulco. Elizabeth who runs the preferred customer floor is also very helpful. She escorted someone I know around the city to assist her to get her phone issues resolved. Francisco Hilario was super nice as well. All of these folks are former employees and now working under the new administration. As a business owner, I'm sure it's a big adjustment, but they all seemed happy and as always helpful. Breakfasts and lunch at this hotel are excellent, breakfast especially.
Some of the waiters have been there 35yrs. They are top notch. I opted to mostly go out to dinner out of my preference and desire to be around town. The renovations of many of the rooms is really nice. Excellent shower, super comfortable bed/bedding and nice large TV's. My room keeper is a gem. Her name is Rosa...Always smiling and always happy to see me. People like that make a big difference. It's always a warm feeling to return. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. The beach area is nice as well with palapas/umbrellas to sit under. Drink service and room service was excellent especially late night when I didn't want to leave the room. Many staff members go out of their way to keep us happy. It's a warm feeling that you don't get in other cities or hotels. Even though I'm not an all inclusive guy, I feel it's great for families and older folks, and overall it was a good value more so if you drink a lot, then it's a homerun. I recommend this hotel, great service, great location and very comfortable updated rooms.

If this was a review on just the staff I would rate a five star however it is not. My rating for overall is a one and here is why in no particular order. One the lobby, halls, restaurants and elevators are not air conditioned it is so hot and very uncomfortable. 2. They claim to be an all exclusive however the pool closes at 7:00 p.m., the lobby bar was rarely opened, it is currently closed as I write this. Also several of the outdoor bars are also closed, Only one remains open and it's outside. This is not what was advertised when my friends and I booked this trip. I would not call what we've experienced all inclusive.3. They claim that room service is 24 hours and we have found out that it is absolutely not. The information in the books provided in your room also states that room service is 24 hours however like I said we found out it is not.
4. They have a cafe that is also advertised to be opened 24 hours however again it is not.
5. They've advertised seven restaurants but they have not all been opened at the same time or during the posted times that were advertised. And the food does not change it's the same thing day after day and night after night they really need to switch that up because after. Also they have a ice cream bar that's supposed to be opened 1:00 to 6:00 every day. Imagine that today was not open at all. And hasn't been since Saturday 7 days here we're so tired of the same food. 6. They also advertise that there would be a nightly show every night between 8:00 and 9:00 however we have yet to see one show and that's because it doesn't exist.
One Restaurant which was advertised to be open 7 days a week we found out it's only open Friday Saturday and sunday. And we were not able to get on a Saturday because you have to have a certain attire and we were not advised of this. The next day we went and got the correct attire which was on Sunday only to find out that it was closed and wouldn't open again until Friday at which time we will have already been gone.
We did inquire as to why all of these amenities were closed or not available and were advised that it's because it's the down season. Well I'm sorry that there's a particular time of the year that not so many people come but that's not what we paid for and it's not our fault. Or what was advertised.
I could continue on as to how many disappointments we've experienced but I'm sure you get the idea by now.

Facilities are well maintained, the room looks good, but they should consider another type of mattress or give a choice, because the mattress is soft and not all of us can sleep on that type of mattress. The food was delicious, up to that point, there is a bit of variety missing on day 2 as you find yourself overwhelmed with the same menu. SUPER limited drinks, they give you 2 options of everything and they are of the lowest quality that exists, they are not at all inclusive when we talk about an all-inclusive, even talking about cocktails they are very limited, the services are cut off at 11 at night but They talk about a 24/7 room service that I have my reservations about. Activities, I understand that it is a family hotel but I only had one karaoke activity with dinner and until then, zero activities in the pool, nothing contests, I didn't like it at all, it is not a 1 star hotel to have so little variety .

My wife and I are staying in Mexico City for a month and were looking for a nice drive-able weekend excursion. I was pleased to see that Dreams has a resort in Acapulco now since we already know and love this brand. The hotel is situated perfectly in the middle of the bay so the ocean view from our room was truly one of the best we have every had at a beach resort. The room was also very spacious, elegant and super clean. In fact, we were impressed with how safe and clean they kept the entire hotel and grounds. The hotel staff were all top notch, especially Elizabeth, the Preferred Club Concierge. She was so pleasant and helpful and Federico was the best bartender. Like other reviewers, we also want to compliment Chef Ruben at La Trattoria for the extra care and attention. And of course a special "thank you" to Jesus, General Manager, and Adryan, Director of Sales for the warm welcome and tour of the hotel. We highly recommend Dreams Acapulco and look forward to returning soon.

The Hyatt Acapulco (today Dreams) was one of the best hotels in the port. It's where my family spent many summers. A true 5 star at the time.
Today Dreams Acapulco leaves a lot to be desired:
We stayed from Oct 19 to 23, 2023
The day we arrived we found out that the pool is under maintenance. Had I known, that fact alone would have been enough to change hotels. In addition to this annoyance, the noise of hammers and concrete drills.
We checked in around 3:00 pm, but when we got up to the room it wasn't ready yet. Unattended beds, towels, etc.
The bars of the bars and the service of lounge chairs, waiters, etc. It begins at 11:00, as far as they are organized, the service begins at noon. This service is enjoyed for half the day only.
The drinks available are very limited and some of them, like the vodka I was served with Clamato, were from an unknown brand in a plastic bottle.
In the room, the refrigerator did not cool, the cups were not replaced and were kept dirty.
There was no mat for the bathroom.
The handle to close the terrace gate is broken.
The offer of television channels is very limited.
A single hook to hang towels in the bathroom.
The exhaust fan in the place where the toilet is located is not useful.
There is no air conditioning or fans in the elevators.
Food is not allowed to be served in the beach area.
A single trash can in the bathroom and bedroom
What I think is that the DREAMS group plans to leave it as a hotel for lower-middle class clients who want to enjoy a "good hotel" but not pay for 5-star hotels or grand tourism because it is not enough.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is nice. I had a couple of issues and some things I would suggest for improvements. The check in time took about 30 minutes and when I have stayed at other AMResorts, you always have champagne while you are waiting. The hotel was out of champagne. So we were just standing there waiting to check in. In addition, the sales people are like used car sales people. I explained to the first sales person, I had already attended an AMR presentation and I was not interested in purchasing. Each time you go to the lobby they are waiting to harass you to give them 20 minutes of your time. I am on vacation and I don't want to waste it seeing a presentation that I have already seen and decided not to purchase. I think they should respect a guest if they do not want to purchase what they are offering. My suite was very nice and with an awesome view. The last thing that puzzled me about the resort is, previously when I stayed in a large resort they always had an ATM machine. This hotel had no ATM machine which means your guest either has to take a taxi to the ATM or walk to the nearest ATM. Now mind you it is extremely hot, so walking in that heat is not enjoyable. Overall, I would have to give this resort a 3.

I was very disappointed with my experience on this Hotel.
Front desk people were the best, I could say the great service and attitude, saved my time there, even when as soon as I get there, just to see the amount of people this hotel receive with long lines, angry clients complaining about something wrong on their suits etc... make me feel I wanted to scape from there, but unfortunately I was already paid for 4 nights. Please before you book holidays consider when is the time when people from Mexico City goes to Acapulco (long weekends) because it really get crazy, stressful on covid time, and not enjoyable at all.
The hotel is old, areas are not very clean, and I can say waiters are so busy to even think on give you good service, lines for drinks and food sometimes were with 10 people before me. Not many restaurants open and cheap cheap food. I have to ask for change of room as the one I first have had a noisy fan, second room the night was noisy with banda music all night long, people (clients) with speakers on the beach, very very noisy place, local people selling on the beach with no masks and spit by mount saliva on the sand.

Sorry don’t have a resort map but overall fairly small footprint there are no quiet or adult only pools. There are a few places within walking distance but most of the bigger restaurants and bars are a short cab ride (closer to the port). As Dreams is the only AMR resort in Acapulco food and drinks are only included at the one resort I do not know the beer on tap question but there are fridges in the room. There is a beach bar about a block away on the beach side and a Walmart just a few blocks if you need more. Enjoy your time.
Yes, Acapulco is safe for tourists. I just went there. Just suggest to choose another hotel because Dreams Acapulco is not like the other Dreams. Management is not experienced.
There are great offers in terms of hotels in Acapulco with high quality.
