Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this hotel during the christmas break and for New Year's last year.
In order to reserve a lounge chair, you had to line up at 7:00 am to put a towel over the back of a chair & then line up again to obtain a chair pad & an umbrella (which there were very few of). We noticed that several families reserved more than one lounge chair per person & sometimes never used them, leaving their towels on them all day - it was a shame because there were lots of people who slept in and never found a lounge chair to use and ended up sitting on the pavement - luckily I had brought my beach blanket which we needed the first couple of days until we found out the routine.
The food was a huge disappointment, although on New Year's there was a gala dinner that was better. That was the only night that there was any type of entertainment. There were long waits for the elevator, pushy sales people trying to sell timeshares at other locations, the large pool was hardly ever cleaned and the alcoholic coctails were the worst I've ever had.
The hotel is also a condominium and many mexicans go there for their christmas vacation and they pack as many people into their condo as possible...avoid this time of year at this hotel!
We did find some great food at affordable restaurants that are in walking distance. The views from all rooms are directed at the ocean and the room was cleaned every day. The beach is small, and you have to climb down very steep stairs to get to it (not great for the elderly or someone with a disability). We did a "lagoon tour" of some sort that was partly on a boat, and partly in a van. The tour guide was fantastic and at the end, we had a great meal at a really nice beach - highly recommend that tour.
I would definitely go back to Acapulco because the weather is fantastic, the view of the bay is mesmorizing, and there is lots to do. I also liked the location because it was central to everything, but I would would not go back to this hotel.

My wife and I just returned from Acapulco last night. Torres Gemelas is an interesting place. I'll start with our arrival and room. We paid 527 each plus tax for this vacation including flight and the all inclusive meal option, so we weren't expecting alot.
Upon first arriving (skyservice bumped us from our orginal flight and put us on a 630am flight. they told us the flight was changed, when we got to the airport at 330am we found out we were bumped from the original... thanks alot skyservice) we got to the hotel fine, its a nice, scenic drive to the hotel from the airport. we were earlier than planned, but the sunquest rep told us our rooms would be ready asap. My wife and I were at the checkout desk first off our bus, and at 12:45 we were told our room would be ready in about 15 min (front desk staff is largely clueless here). We argued for a while and finally got our All inclusive bracelets and went and had a drink. The view from the lobby is fantastic, and the AI beer is bottled corona which was a nice surprise.
We then went for lunch at the buffet, then went back to the front desk to get our room. The genius at the front desk told us "oh you can't check in until 3pm". When I told him he said 15 min a half hour a go, he fumbled around and i told him we want the key even if the room isn't clean. he had to check with someone, nobody can seem to make a decision, then agreed. Funny enough when we got to our room it had been serviced, but it didn't help much. there were cigarette burns on the sheets, stains as well, the fridge was old and covered in rust, the patio door wouldn't lock, i was afraid to take off my shoes (i'm not a picky traveller in general). We changed into bathing suits, and went back to the front desk. One of the ladies from guest services was at the desk, they seem to be the only ones who can get anything done. Laura from guest services listened to my plea, and agreed to change our room. The moved us from the south tower to the north tower, I would STRONGLY recommend demanding a room in the north tower, the rooms there have been renovated and are much better than the south tower.
When we got to our new room, 2308 north, we were pleasantry surprised. We had an amazing ocean view, clean sheets, much newer decor, and a new fridge. Our patio door didn't lock, I don't think any of them did, but a much nicer room. From our balcony we could see the pool area, the beach, and we could see many eagle rays swimming in the little lagoon in front of our hotel. Much better experience. In general, North tower is much better, and the rooms are in a V such that rooms ending in 06 and 07 are right at the front. the 08 we had was one back from the front, as would have been the 05 across from us. 09 and 04 would have been one back etc. If you can get an 06 or 07 (they were doubled up to make one big room on our floor) they seem to be much nicer units.
The elevators are pretty good, never had to wait more than a couple minutes even when it was very busy.
Now the food.
The buffet restaurant is typical of most AI buffets we've eaten at. On the good side, niether of us felt sick after eating there. On the negative, not much variety and the same things day after day. No real surprises here. The servers are all nice and the omelet's to order station is nice.
The poolside bar/restaurant is nice. You can get sandwiches, chicken fingers, burgers and the like made to order by the pool. Its a little slow, but with the food free it was all in all pretty good. The grilled sandwiches are very nice.
Jesus at the pool bar and Lorenzo at the lobby bar were both fantastic, please tip them well, they deserve it.
Okay now the pool/beach.
Ignorant people try to monopolize the chairs all day. Some morons would leave towels on the loungers at 7am and not show up until noon or later. Security would occasionally remove these, but not often. Made it very tough to try to get loungers. Get yours early and go eat after, it gets very crowded and there are not enough. The pool was very full of kids, and it was very warm.
The beach area is largely as described here. There is not really any beach, and the loungers on the beach are not the hotels so you have to pay if you want them. They are crammed up against the wall as the water comes most of the way up the beach leaving 15 or 20 feet of sand high up that you can sit on. The water is lovely, and its very fun to swim in the surf there. If I was with young children however, I would be very very cautious.
Okay now location.
The location of the hotel is great, excepting the condition of the beach. If you want 2 min in either direction from the hotel, the beach is much larger. The nice thing is, you can get loungers or chairs and shade from the beach clubs/restaurants on the beach and just pay for food. The couple places we stopped were excellent, great service, and bottled corona for 2 or 3 bucks a beer served right on the beach. The beach vendors are there, but they listen and are fair. We bought two straw cowboy hats for 20 bucks, nicely woven. The bags of nuts are a buck or two, all in all decent deals if you want anything like that.
The restaurants around the hotel are great, we ate out for most of our dinners and 50 bucks was about the most we spend for steak and seafood, including a couple drinks. Again, didn't get sick at all which is always a bonus in mexico.
Summary
All in all, this hotel is in need of a face lift. They could use more beach chairs, or at least someone to take the moron's towels off chairs after an hour or so. If people weren't so stupid this would be fine. The room we got was fine, but I would have been very unhappy if we'd been stuck in our original room, kinda of hit and miss. Crappy that they told us no rooms were ready when we checked in, when in fact our room was ready, as were others when they moved us.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel due to the uncertainty with the rooms. However, for 527 all inclusive, you could do much worse. We met a young couple who had paid more at romano beach and were very unhappy. I think most of the hotels along the beach are in the same state.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Happy vacationing.

Well we went on our vacation with a negative attitude after some of the negative reviews here and came away very pleasantly surprised. We could not understand where it all came from. We ended up with a 24th floor room. It was really nice and the balcony view of the ocean front was breathtaking. All rooms in this resort have an ocean front which is not allways easy to get anywhere else. The room was not quite ready when we arrived as it was just past checkout time. A polite call to the front desk and room had maids within 20 minutes. We found the maids all worked very hard all week and were extremely friendly. We pillow tipped them about 10 pesos a day, about one $US and they added nice little touches. Tip your maids they deserve it even if all-inclusive. The buildings though older are still quite well kept, the elevators were typical for 29 floor buildings, sometimes slow but not bad. The pool area and decks were gorgeous and there was often arranged activities. Overall the age group here is mostly 30's to 50's. So if you want a loud action packed 20's style singles vacation this is not really the place for you. The pool snack bar was for us amazing. Lots of club type sandwiches, burgers, tacos, salads, all made to order. It's worth the price of all inclusive alone. Again do not be afraid to tip once in a while, just to show appreciacion. Just 5 or 10 pesos once in a while go a long way and these people go out of their way to make you happy. True. Early in the day it can be hard to find chairs only because of the volume of people the two buildings hold. Go down before breakfast and put a towel on a chair and it's yours for the day if you choose. Afternoon is not as much of a problem. There were chairs were on the beach but they cost 50 pesos, we found it worth it because they came with umbrellas. Some days because of sea roughness they do not have them on the beach because they get swept away. I saw a couple chairs get lost in the sea myself on the one rough water day we had for the week. The waves here are quite a majestic site at times. Respect them and be careful in the ocean. Two of the days were so calm we could see the ocean floor clearly from our balcony, beautiful. Our last day saw our flight delayed by skyservice for 6 hours, luckily we were informed by our guide and were able to enjoy the extra time at the pool. The hotel, in a total class move, gave us a hospitality room to stay in and store our luggage as well as shower. We had to only share with one other couple. I heard horror stories from others on the plane at 4 star resorts, that said they wished they had gone to gemelas as that last day almost ruined their vacation. We were allowed to eat and drink right up to the time we left the resort. That last day experience showed us this resort does not deserve the negativity we had read and we are hooked forever. Bravo Las Torres Gemelas.

I cant say but the worse of las torres gemelas hotel after my "eventually" short stay there.
When i first arrived there, i thought i would be helped to carry my luggage as you would expect in any hotel, but those at the door just kept staring at me and did nothing.
At the front desk i found myself waiting for the receptionists a couple of minutes since they seemed to be talking and eating at the same time of a very interesting topic.
In my room I saw something that made me think again about sleeping there, on the pillows i saw something that seemed to be either blood stains or stains from their i belive oxidated laundry machines.
I called the service to have my pillows changed, they apologized and changed everything immediatly.
When they took all the covers and bed sheets, i saw in the bed more stains, it was DISGUSTING... i dont need to say more about it.
I called front desk to see if i could talk to the manager of the hotel and let him know of these things.
Since they heard i was angry, they told me the manager himself would talk to me in his office. When i got there i talked to who i belived was the manager for 10 minutes.
While i was talking to this person i heard some of the staff laugh and heard they were saying in spanish that they made me belive i was talking to the manager.
I asked the person at the office if he was indeed the manager and he just smiled.
I left the office and asked to talk to the manager, a person told me he was the hotel manager, but at that point i chose not to belive again it was him.
He identified himself as the hotel manager. I couldnt belive he knew his staff was playing a joke on me and just let it happend.
I cant think of a worse hotel, poorer service, a dirtiest place and the most stupid management than that of the torres gemelas hotel.
I was fortunate i was able to book another hotel the next morning.

I tried the Torres Gemelas in Acapulco having been to the city over 8 times. It is by far the best resort. Great bang for your buck. The service is excellent and the staff is always smiling. The pool is incredible and the beach secluded.
I'LL BE BACK TO THE TORRES GEMELAS IN ACAPULCO SOON!

I had a great time at Las Torres Gemelas! Everyone that worked at the hotel was great and made sure that we had a blast! We knew a lot of the staff by their first names by the time we left. The security guards were also really nice and were good sports. It wasn't much of a party hotel either, so if you just want to relax during the day and party at night, this is a great place to go. It's also at a great location. I will definately be back to Torres soon!

If you are thinking about this hotel as a fun filled vacation and full of great service like everyone tells you Acapulco is think again. I have been to various hotels inside of mexico but this hotel kept me wondering how the heck they can still be in business.
IF BEING ON VACATION MEANS:
1. cold and discusting food 2. old and dirty hotel 3. aweful service 4. bell boys that sit on their %/$ 5. bar closed when they really should be open 6. pool dominated by 300 children 7: video casettes flying from 24 flights above 8. being told what to do by personell 9. repeated menus daily 10. elevator takes a duration of 5 minutes to get to your floor
THAN I DO NOT EVER WANT TO GO ON VACATION!

I can't even begin to tell you how bad this hotel was. We were there for 2 weeks in Feb. 2002. When we arrived after an almost 6 hour flight from montreal we were issued a room in the south tower. What a hole! It smelled like mold and was furnished with cheap plastic furniture and the beds were dressed with tattered spreads. Yuck!!! I complained vigourously and they showed me 4 other rooms. I selected one in the north tower. It was a newly renovated suite and was a lot better. One day I was sitting in the lobby while my friend was standing by the rails talking to a guy from Toronto. Suddenly the restaurant doors bursted open and out came an elderly woman vomiting violently into her cupped hands! I quickly jumped out of my seat to avoid this scene and joined my "unaware" friend by the rails over looking the pool. It took about 15 minutes for the hotel staff to clean up the mess while curious people walked passed the puke with a baffled look. I kid you not when I tell you that not 15 minutes after that incident a huge chunk of the building fell off and onto the pool deck. The concrete just missed hotel guest by a few feet! The whole time we were there the elevators didn't work properly. Sometimes they quit between floors and you would have to pry open the doors yourself to get out. This place was pure hell and I would advise anyone to avoid it. It may be cheap but it will leave you feeling like a cheap whore for staying there...
