Our stay at La Rosa exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. Gail and the staff absolutely bent over backward to meet our every wish. Want a massage? It's yours. Pina colada on the beach? Done. Want a lobster dinner waiting for you after you get back from your guided kayak tour of the estuary? No problem. We can't say...

This place is awesome, you get to stay in an amazing garden paradise on the beach in a tiny Mexican town with very few other tourists. There are stunning beaches, kayaking, mountain bikes, surfing, playing volleyball/baseball/soccer with the locals, or just strolling pleasantly about.

I would highly recommend a visit to La Rosa in Barras de Piaxtla. The facility was comfortable and clean and the service that Gail provided to us was nothing less than 5 star. Barras de Piaxtla is a quite fishing village north of Mazatlan. I found the people in the community to be very friendly and helpful. One should know...

We have been here twice, and both times Gail the owner, has taken wonderful care of us both times. When we were married she allowed our guests to check out later than usual since she had no reservations for that day and use all the equipment she had. Gail arranged for her staff, on very short notice, to cook before,...

My family and I visited La Rosa over New Years. We rented the entire compound with several other families and had a relaxing, unforgettable getaway. The village of Las Barras is somewhat isolated and other than us and the proprietor Gail, appeared to be gringo free. Spanish is helpful. Aside from Gail, no one in town spoke English, but everyone...

I found La Rosa on the internet and decided to give it a shot -- I want to travel outside of the cities, and this wound up being a perfect solution. Enough amenities to make it a comfortable retreat, yet enough isolation to make me feel like life really slowed down while I was there. La Rosa itself was beautiful,...

Gail was good enough to let us use the entire resort for my marriage to Margarita a couple of years ago. We specified our menu and the food was great, to say the least. Evening walks on the beach looking at the stars, daytime playing in the ocean 100 meters from the front door. Wandering around talking to the local...

My wife and I stayed at La Rosa in the Barras de Piaxtla several days at a time over a three week trip to the Mazatlan area in May. The accomodations are clean, comfortable, and quiet-unless you object to the constant soundt of the surf. Our casita had A/c with a refrigerator and microwave. Two buildings have full kitchens that...

My husband and I stayed at La Rosa for nearly 2 weeks in Feb 2009, along with another couple. We rented the 2 BR/2 BA beach house, and WOW! What a delightful place! The accomodations and grounds at La Rosa are charming, and the staff and service are wonderful and responsive. We are NOT attracted to large towns and resorts...

I spent a week at Barras de Piaxtla last summer and was blown away. I was able to experience the best of both worlds - a small, friendly, non-touristy fishing village AND beautiful, comfortable accommodations right on the beach. I kayaked, shopped at the local tiendas for my food, relaxed in the hammock under the thatched-roofed palapa, got my haircut...
