Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We had a fantastic time at Weipa Camp Ground! The grounds are beautifully maintained with huge shady trees. The amenities were clean and work well. I personally really liked the sanitising wipes to use I thought this was a great idea especially this year!
The staff are super friendly and willing to help with any queries. We kept extending really wish we could of stayed longer.
Beautiful sunsets on the beach in the afternoons absolutely magic with a great family atmosphere. So nice to see everyone out having fun.
Our site was lovely and quiet with a nice breeze and only a short walk from the shopping centre. Barramunchies which is on site is great for a feed at the end of a big day of exploring. Our kids have grown up but if you have children there is a great playground right beside the restaurant the children’s really seemed to be having lots of fun! And a very nice pool which was thoroughly enjoyed :-)
The fish cleaning station is awesome and easy to clean and kept clean everyday by the awesome grounds team.

Can’t complain about anything really loved the camping ground 👍

Thanks to all Staff and hope to see you all next time

I booked a room at the Lodge at the campground as part of a package with the guys from Weipa Fly Fishing.
The package included a room in a shared house and also had a meal package offer of breakfast and evening meals cooked by a chef for us (Sean)
The property was clean. comfortable and air conditioned and had a great view over the ocean (Amazing sunsets!)
Sean the chef was brilliant - was there promptly each morning with a menu of cereals, fruit tea/coffee toast and/or eggs cooked to order and even bacon if you so wishes.
Dinners were a 3 course affair (following nibbles on the deck with a cold drink after a hot day on the water)
The options included pork belly, a seafood night (which included barra and fingermark that had been caught by one of the group) We had sushi one night from a tuna that had been caught and other nights we had options including garlic prawns, steak and desserts including sticky date pudding with ice cream.
I had a room to myself and it was basic but had all I needed with a fridge, a comfortable bed, tv, kettle and tea/coffee and an ensuite bathroom.
Bedding and towels were provided, the water was warm so it was nice to have a good shower.
Close by is a shopping centre which you can get most things from if you have left something behind.
We had a couple of hours to kill after checking out so visited the cafe in the centre but others also grabbed drinks and snacks from the Barramunchies cafe on site and reported it was a good option too.

Great little spot! Camp ground itself is very clean with nice green grass. Camp sites are an average size. Power cords have to be run through other Camp sites to reach the power box. The reception will lend leads for this. Washing machines were clean and plenty of line space. Bathrooms cleaned twice a day and very tidy! Pool was great on first day for kids but they did close it for the last 2 days of our stay. Barramunchies food is overpriced and not very good quality. For $25 each, the burgers were very overpriced and seafood was not local. It is disappointing that they do not support the local fisherman and supply local seafood. Farmed barramundi used when the area has some of the best wild caught barra in the world! Highly recommend the camp ground but avoid Barramunchies!

Overlooking the beach, with a lovely spacious balcony, to watch the sunset with a drink and great company. Peaceful breakfast to listen to the birds and the kids playing on the lawn in front of us. Our cabin has 3 singles and a queen, a kitchenette and an ensuite, enough to make a stay very enjoyable. We had a great takeaway meal from Barras, the parks cafe and sat on the balcony to eat it as the sun went down. I would highly recommend the park and onsite cabins.

Kitchen Cabin - Rating poor
Bunk beds were pathetic. Collapsed foam mattresses and a broken base which made it dangerous due to possible collapse.
Kitchen tap was not firmly attached making it difficult to use. Turn the tap handle off/on and the spout turns as well spilling water over the benchtop; also leaks inside the cabinet.
No insect screen door so main entry has to be kept closed.
Window is screwed close so that is un openable as well.
Shower room floor was continually flooded requiring you to walk through a puddle to use the toilet or shower.
Aircon was unable to maintain a cool room during the hottest part of the day.
Overpriced.

We flew to Weipa with Qantas via Cairns for a couple of nights to check out the town, this is a very easy flight, only 1 hour. We were also in town for the Rodeo which was a real blast.

We stayed in the Deluxe Villa on the Weipa Camping Ground.

The unit was clean and had all we needed for a very comfortable stay, the Air conditioning (You will need it!!) worked well keeping the unit comfortable. The view from the balcony towards the Gulf of Carpentaria is amazing, you will be treated with stunning sun-sets every night.

The Camping Ground staff are very friendly and look after the place really well.

We stayed at the park on a powered site and found the amenities to be good. The location of the park is excellent with great views of the ocean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. My only suggestion would be to either add another pool or increase the size of the existing pool. Nonetheless great stay highly recommended

Friendly helpful staff. Good size cabin with deck. Kitchen reasonably equipped with full size fridge. No extra pillows, no hair dryer. Aircon worked well. Good shower pressure and hot water. No dining table inside but eating on the deck was quite pleasant when not exposed to the sun.

The camping ground is budget accommadation place offering place for camping and different dongas. The basic dongas does not offer much but the better ones include own kitchen and some own showers.some even has a beachfront views.
the dongas are far far away from any luxurious place but atleast the linens are clean. So if youre only staying for couple night and dont expect too much from your accommodation. This is probably the cheapest and best option for you.

The place is centrally located in this small mining town. The woolworth some other shops are just next to it.Also some reasturants (there are only just couple in whole town) are also quite near.
camping ground is near the beach so its nice place to go there to see sunset or sunrise. There is also nice little swimming pool in the area. Many people who came for fishing in weipa seems to stay there also.

The camping ground has also very friendly staff which will happily help you .
