Lovely change after the bustle of Kuala Lumpur. We didn't find it faded - and enjoyed the colonial feel instead. Very pleasant staff.. Relaxing tea in the afternoon. Also enjoyed steamboat restaurant one evening - sort of Chinese fondu, which we would recommend. Of course, one can get a taxi to a nearby village if you want to enjoy local...

We booked the Signature Suite for one night. The total cost was 3089.90 rm for the one night. We were four adults and one baby, and I thought the two rooms/two bathrooms/one living area setup would work well for us. The hotel is beautiful. It has the southeast Asian colonial vibe which gives it an old time glamor. The breakfast...

It was a spontaneous decision to just spend a weekend visiting a familiar place. We grew up knowing this to be The Merlin, before its transformation to what it is today. The hallway reception is quite the same, except now you get the feel that something exclusive has taken over. The reception is efficient is locating the reservations and the...

We have just returned home after a three week stay at the Cameron Highlands Resort ( yes, three weeks) and "a relaxing time" does not really explain how the stay was. Our time there was unbelievable. On arrival, after a long trip from Kuala Lumpur airport, we were really made to feel at home. The staff, from Emmanuel the Manager,...

We were particularly impressed with the friendliness of the staff giving the impression of personal service just for you. We arrived very late but this caused no problem. There is only one restaurant. The food is impressive. We met the head chef who has been there for 8 years and who knows his business. Do try the Steamboat option if...

I really enjoyed my stay at the CHR. The hotel went to great effort to make my birthday special, providing petals on the bed, a cake and souvenir photograph of us lighting the fire! The staff were friendly and the service was generally very good. Very tasty afternoon tea and food. The upstairs rooms are quite noisy with traffic, but...

Hotel overall is very good, staff are very helpful too but it gets very noisy at night. The hotel urgently needs to change windows and do some sort of sound proofing. All night the bike and cars passing on the highway makes it impossible to sleep and too bad if your room faces the road. Since there are no air...

Lovely hotel, couldn't fault any of it. Staff were pleasant and attentive - with special mention to those in the restaurant. Rooms were large and comfortable with a small balcony, which would have been nice to use had the weather been better. Had meals in both restaurants and recommend both. Book directly with the hotel and you get an included...

When you enter this hotel you feel immediately like home. The team at the reception is highly attentive and friendly. The hotel has a very sympathique and special flair. During our "hot pot" dinner Gerard and his team indulged us with an excellent dinner and high attention during the evening. Congratulation to the manager on such an excellent hotel team!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set amidst tea plantations and rolling hills, this boutique hideaway promises all the splendour, romance and nostalgia of Cameron Highlands’ grand colonial heritage.Tall French doors, timber-beamed ceilings and plantation shutters add colonial charm and a touch of nostalgia to our rooms.Enjoy a refreshing round of golf, a pink-cheeked ramble along jungle trails, or a leisurely walk through tea plantations and strawberry farms. To recover, you can have a cup of tea in the drawing room, or a tea bath at the Spa Village, or you may simply choose to spend the day curled up with a good book by the fireplace.Cameron Highlands Resort is situated on the largest hill retreat in Malaysia, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, lush greenery, rolling hills and Tudor-styled cottages. The luxurious boutique Resort features 56 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites, and fronts Cameron Highlands' 18-hole golf course. It also houses the third wellness centre of the award-winning Spa Village group, which offers exotic treatments focusing on the healing and restorative properties of tea. Located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands is a beautiful holiday destination and the only place where you can find tea plantations and strawberries in Malaysia. At about 1,500 metres above sea level, it is the highest area on the mainland and enjoys a cool climate and fresh air, with temperatures ranging between 15° and 25° Celsius. Much of the character of the highlands remains unchanged since colonial times. It is endearingly known to some as the 'little corner of England in Asia'. The cool climate on the picturesque plateau and its surrounding hills and forest make this a popular retreat for golfing, jungle trekking and exploration of the many plantations and gardens. Cameron Highlands Resort is ideal all year round for families, honeymooners and holidaymakers out to satiate their appetites for trails, tales and tradition. ... more   less
