Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Phone booking and arrival staff extremely pleasant and helpful. On arrival in our motor home the staff asked me the ages of our grandchildren . Then they re assigned our site closer to the pillow trampoline volley ball court and amenities which was a blessing for us as we had full view of that and the lake. Helped not being fully booked at the time we went before Christmas. Amenities a bit tired but the park was well maintained and clean. Petting farm a bonus as the grand kids just love animals. ATM the water at the park isn’t for drinking but we had filled the van up with our water and wasn’t a problem. Kiosk well stocked. They sold worms ice and most essentials. The lake itself has very poor water quality so I would recommend looking on the EPA site for updates. Managed to catch plenty of Redfin yellow belly carp and even a turtle. The down side internet very poor (like most parks) couldn’t get tv reception. Overall fabulous experience and will come back

Arrived to find room had flies, spiders both dead and alive, flying ants came out of door cavity. Room was not clean. Microwave and a hair in it plus splattered food still in it, and was rusty. Utensil drawers were not clean, had food crumbs, utensil still had mashed pumpkin on it. Dirt and insects in door and window tracks. When called owners they said they will deal with the next day. When I said I would contact health dept. they came with in 10 mins. Were very abrupt and smug and said I was picky. I just wanted a clean room to sleep in. With being in middle of Covid19 it was a health issue. I didn't stay, I left.

Visited for Australia Day weekend. Amenities and bins were cleaned /emptied-often which was great. Good range of activities for Australia Day. Would be good if the free camping sites were marked out a little better but worked in our favour I think as we had plenty of room.

Last weekend we checked out this little holiday park. WOW just WOW. It was lovely. Neat property, we felt like we were on our own overlooking the lake, just beautiful. Loved the animals and the roaming alpacas. Do yourself a favour and do as we did and check it out for yourself and especially your kids. We WILL be back real soon.

BE AWARE!
Had a flat tyre and asked Diane if they had any spare tyres we could buy, she did everything she could to help us despite it being 9pm on Christmas Day.

while Diane was at the gate helping us with the tyre, when the owner comes past to collect the money we paid for the tyre.
The owner did not even acknowledge us at all or that we needed help. Only interested in the money we paid for the tyre.

One week later we decide to come back for New Years. We were suppose to check in on the 31st morning however we were supper excited to get up there we decided to leave the night before and planned to arrive around 10pm, however on the way we had a break down. Waited for RACV for a hour and didn't arrive on schedule.

Again Diane served us and was super nice and easy going. Was understanding that we were running late to check in however said she would check us in away from other campers so we wouldn't disturb them while setting up.
However once arrived at campsite we were actually only about 5 metres from the next campsite.

We Left the lights on the car but turned the car off so it wasn't noisy. It did take us almost 2 hours to set the tent up as we have never used that tent before. However we were pretty quite during the set up.

As we woke up, drinking coffee outside our campsite we were SHOCKED to hear the OWNER PETER ROSE"S hands SLAM down on OUR camping table accusing us of being loud and disruptive.
We tried to defend ourselves and get a word in however was repeatedly loud and aggressive towards myself, my mum, my brother and 2 sisters.
Other campers appeared to be quite shocked to what was going on. Very EMBARRASING FOR US!
PETER ROSE DEMANDED US TO LEAVE RIGHT AWAY.
He would not refund our money.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE AT ALL!

The park is huge and right on the lake, staff are very friendly and helpful. The onsite Kiosk with daily lunch specials was handy. We stayed in a budget cabin knowing this would mean basic but.... I was concerned that there weren't any pics of these cabins on the website. But we were only going for a quick weekend away to fish and relax so wasn't too worried about staying in a basic cabin, but basic doesn't mean dirty. When we got to the cabin the outside light wasn't working which made it difficult to see, since we arrived quite late getting our gear from the car was tricky. The stove provided in the Cabin was gas but the flint was gone so didn't light. Lucky we happened to have matches in the car. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, there was still soap and other bathroom products in the shower from the last guests?? I was horrified. The fan in the bathroom wasn't working. The lined smelt, so wasn't sure if the sheets were clean. Won't be returning to this one. And for what they offered a little pricey.

Response from Kate P, Manager at Lake Eppalock Holiday Park
Responded 27 Aug 2014
We were surprised to read your negative review dated 26/4/14 as we have only just joined the "Trip Adviser" revolution! A quick phone call or visit to reception would have rectified this situation immediately. Quite frankly were mortified to to read of your experience. This has never happened before and our many return guests are testament to this, I can only assume for this situation to occur that there was almost certainly a breakdown of communication between our housekeeping & office staff, this is no excuse but an observation and we certainly apologize for this. Because of your experience we have reviewed our housekeeping procedures and have updated new policies so that this unfortunate situation does not happen again. I must express that our standard/budget cabins are of an older style, however, we do pride ourselves in offering them in a spotless and clean condition.
