Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Scotland is a beautiful place to visit and the great glen holiday park is in a great location however the accomodation (lodge 21) did let it down as very tiried. The suite, the leather effect was cracked, carpet stained, the cooking pans in a poor condition. The bathrooms, the taps were flaking paint, the shower tray cracked and the shower screen in a poor condition. No faciltiies for drying wet clothes / towels. The floorboards next to the bed, very creaky (not sure if boards were loose or damaged). No instructions for the cooker or microwave, did managed them but would have liked to have had instructions. The positives about the accomodation was clean and the bed was comfortable but you can not take away the first impression which was a tired accomodation which needs a bit on money spending on it to bring it back to life.

This review is specifically for Hamish's Kitchen which is a new restaurant opened on site, which apparently has only been open since July.

We went there for a meal on the 9th of September during our Scotland Road Trip. The online booking was very easy to do and took less than a couple of minutes.

The restaurant itself isn't the easiest place to find, it's tucked out the way down a track with lots of holiday lodges.

The restaurant is small and sparsely furnished. It was relatively clean, although there was a strong fishy smell which was slightly unpleasant which I'm guessing from simply from food.

There were lots of plates and cutlery left on tables from previous customers, this appeared to be down to a lack of staff as opposed to neglect.

The waiter we had was very nice and helpful in picking food choices, I chose the Venison burger which was very nice, my other half decided to have a steak which unfortunately wasn't very nice, slightly overdone, but also didn't taste nice and gave her a few tummy issues later on that night and the following morning.

The chips on both plates were very oily, this we put down to the salad they give you probably being covered in olive oil which has then run into the chips and made them soggy which was a shame.

My meal was fine but overall I wouldn't return. Sorry Hamish.

We are in lodge 4 which is clean enough and comfortable. Lovely view overlooking the loch and surrounding mountains are beautiful, the location is lovely, close to several places and Fort William is a short drive. However, the lodge and park are definitely not worth the expense, it's pretty tired and basic! The hot tub is good and peaceful with no surrounding noise, however the solar lights around the hot tub weren't working, so it was pretty dark at night!

The "facilities" are dreadful, park is very run down and not at all worth the prices being charged! Website says there is a restaurant and activity centre on site ....there isn't! We used the lodge as a base which worked however I wouldn't return to this park. We have stayed several other places this holiday which were cheaper and far superior.

We stayed in lodge no. 18. I cannot warn you off this enough. Filthy cabin, broken glass on the beside cabinet, pots unwashed but put away, completely bodged fixings. The worst thing about this was how the host responded. I should have been warned when they ignored my request for a highchair before we even arrived. He acknowledged that the poor cleanliness of the cabin had happened to other guests and he blamed the onsite staff. Then lead me on promising a stay somewhere else for free and ended up just ignoring my messages. The location is nice but the park is a ghost town and feels like it's not been updated since the 80s. The kids play park was rusty and flooded. Think Camp Krusty! AVOID!

Well, I don't know where to start....Imagine booking a week away for your big birthday, and driving a long way, full of excitement only to be met with nothing like the owners of the lodge described? That's what we found. The lodge hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants, it smelled and the whole place looked shabby and unkept. Now, I am of the view that my standards reflect what I have at home, nothing less, or I wouldn't have booked this lodge.
It was nothing like the description at all. Overgrown grass outside with huge weeds growing in the footpath etc. This had never been tended to for months.
The beds hadn't been cleaned, the bathrooms hadn't been cleaned, towels everywhere too. The kitchen was dirty, and the fridge had food in it. The lounge smelled of stale socks, and when opening the patio door to get some air, there was cobwebs on the patio door that had been there for months as they were massive, so obviously not been cleaned for ages.
I complained and received my money back, fully, but that didn't help my partner to fork out on an overnight stay somewhere else.
The owner informed that the lodge would be cleaned, on the site, I booked this lodge on, however, who would want to stay in that cleaned up or not, it was disgusting. No apology of driving the length I did or nothing, so I do not feel bad reviewing this property, as I don't want anyone else to be greeted with this too.
All-in-all a ruined holiday, with no compensation.
If there was an option to score zero, I would have on here.

With the addition of Hamish's Kitchen this park now has everything - stunning views of Loch Oich, A great selection of freshly prepared meals, beer and spirits on tap. Friendly hosts and visitors. Come away from here totally relaxed and ready for a return visit.

Stunning setting, peaceful and good value. Well equipped cabin, clean and warm. Staff very helpful and friendly when booking, on arrival and at the end of our stay. Top marks to Heather for the fantastic service. Would definitely visit again. Covid restrictions meant that the restaurant and bar were closed but that wasn't an issue as we came well prepared to eat in the cabin.

This is an ideal place to "get away fom it all." Located in the Highlands, quite close to amenities. Great walking trails and wild swimming, paddle boarding etc;
Ben Nevis is just down the road, if you're feeling adventurous and fit!
Throughly enjoyable stay!

Lodge was rotten upon arrival. Urine in toilet. Beds a mess. Floors covered in grass. Tobacco everywhere. Asked host for a clean which they said they would get sorted the next day. Got in from work and only bed sheets were changed. Grass, tobacco, crumbs and dirt still everywhere. Dozen or so cobwebs. Brilliant if you’re an incy wincy spider. Horrible if you’re a human. Needs a good deep clean. Wi-Fi very poor. Kitchen appliances need replacing. Oh you’re right next to the Loch wooo sounds amazing aye if you’re a duck. Would NOT recommend!

We booked this Lodge through Anchor Mor, who own lots of lodges on this park. It’s now called Invergarry Lodges, not Great Glen Waterpark. The park has shut and been taken over. Most of the lodges have been bought and are privately owned and rented.
Yes the playground is old and nothing is open, but that didn’t bother us at all, we knew that when we booked. Location is amazing, lodge is fab spec, modern inside and clean.

once when we visited there had been some land sides on the hills behind and water supply had a lot of peat in it. the water supply comes off the mountains and they have filters etc but because of the storms it just looked bit brown. But we been 3 or 4 times since and we had the water. our friends have the bungalow at the entrance they say it's fine
