We stayed here one night when walking the Great Glen Way. Laura and Lorraine are fabulous hosts and picked us up at Laggan Locks to save us the extra walk down the road. Breakfast was really good and they offer Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner followed by a delicious ginger cake for a small extra charge.

Right from the first communication, we were made to feel welcome and on arrival knew we'd made the right choice in staying here. After a long day of walking the Great Glen Way in stupidly high temperatures, the offer of a lift was appreciated and within minutes of phoning, they were taking us the mile to the guest house. Our room was comfortable and well decorated. The evening meal was good value and, along with breakfast, really tasty. Loved the honesty shop. The location was peaceful and we spent the evening in the guest lounge which has spectacular views. Thank you Lorraine & Laura for such a lovely relaxing stay, a real home from home!

Exceptionally friendly hosts gave us a warm welcome, including taking our wet clothes away to dry. Very comfortable room with beautiful views. We were tired from walking and it was great to be able to relax and eat an evening meal in the dining room, hearty and delicious. Thanks so much! T and R

I stayed at the Forest Lodge Guest House in South Laggan one night last year while I was hiking The Great Glen Way. The Forest Lodge Guest House is a Very, Very nice place but it was about a half mile or so from the path of the Great Glen Way. Ordinarily, that wouldn't be too far to go for a nice bed; but after a day of steady rain, any extra distance to the lodgings was just too far. However, upon my arrival, soaking wet and bedraggled, I was overcome with welcome and hospitality from the owners. Lorraine and Laura could not have been any more welcoming and inviting and hospitable. They were probably the very best hosts that I encountered on my two week trip along the WHW and GGW.
The Forest Lodge Guest House was really well laid out with an efficient and practical vestibule, a welcome sunroom with TV, lounge, a large and comfy dining room and an "honor shop". Coffee and tea was available in the lounge. The sunroom had numerous puzzles and looks and other entertainment features.
My room was very adequate and comfortable but slightly more basically furnished. It had two twin beds, a three-drawer night stand and lamp, a small desk/vanity with stool, and a luggage rack. There was a coffee kettle/urn with coffee fixings (including decaf) on the vanity. The bathroom was slightly small but well arranged and with a shower stall and head that were fine. There were two towels and washcloths but no bar soap. The bathroom sink had separate Hot and Cold water valves and faucets.
The Forest Lodge Guest House served a dinner (on request) that was very good (Spaghetti Bolognese and Salad and warm Ginger Cake) It was delicious (and the only place in town!)
The Forest Lodge Guest House was a great place to stay and I would be pleased to return again someday.

Thank you for your lovely review, very much appreciated. We completely agree with your comment about the fact that we are a little way off the GGW and after a long days walking any extra steps are not welcomed however, we do offer a pick up service from Laggan Lock and we would have been more than happy to come and collect you. Very pleased to read though that you felt welcomed on your arrival, we like to think that our guests feel that way especially if they have had to walk in less than pleasant weather. The twin room that you were in is one of our smaller rooms and is also one that we are considering turning into a single occupancy room therefore allowing the occupant more space. Again, completely appreciate and take on board your comments. We do not offer bars of soap in the rooms as we provide complimentary shampoo/body wash and hand wash. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your meal with us and that you enjoyed your stay and our hospitality. We do hope to see you, your family or friends in the future.

Warm and friendly welcome from Lorraine set the tone for our stay in this fabulous guesthouse I can’t recommend more highly this bed and breakfast. We arrived wet and grubby from our cycle ride and Lorraine welcomed us in made sure our bikes were stored safely then gave us a bucket for our wet clothes which she took and got them dry for us. Dinner was tasty and it was great to chat with Laura and Lorraine after dinner. Breakfast is lovely (Laura does great scrambled eggs) The rooms are clean and comfortable. Overall a great place to stay if you are exploring the Great Glen

Warm, friendly, helpful hosts make all the difference. The hosts drove us to and from the local restaurant which was really appreciated after a long day hiking. The room was spotless and the bed really comfortable. A very pleasant stay in a lovely rural area.

Had a very enjoyable stay here with Lorraine and Laura, made to feel very welcome and at ease instantly. Beds were comfortable, rooms were spotlessly clean and shower was powerful and hot.
Only minor criticisms are with the food - I didn't think the portion sizes were that great (for someone who just walked 30km) and the quality was so-so. I felt like corners were cut for saving money and its quite telling the difference between value brands and the mid range brands (ice cream, for example).
Nevertheless, it was more than a good stay and I only mention the food as a means of constructive criticism. I would happily stay here again!

Thank you for your review, and your lovely comments about your stay. We appreciate your feedback regarding the food and will take these comments on board. We do feel that for £18 what has been described by many as a 'hearty' homecooked Bolognese served with a side salad, two slices of garlic bread and a dessert to be more than adequate, however it is challenging to cater for larger appetites. If we would have known then we would have made your portion larger, equally you could have asked for more meat sauce which we would have been happy to provide. We would love to have you stay with us again at Forest Lodge, and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Following a wet and very windy walk from Fory William, I arrived to the door been flung open and two women cheering for me. Lorraine and Laura are so genuine and kind. Provision was made to dry wet clothing, and I was assured that my dietary needs, (I’m coeliac ) was no problem to be accommodated.
The room was cosy and comfortable, the bed was a dream after a 34k walk.
Dinner was a generous portion followed by warm gingerbread cake.
There was a lot of options for breakfast. I opted for a packed lunch which was prepared for me(quite large).
A delicious flapjack was added, which was jammy, buttery and delicious !!
As I left my dry clothing was laid out ready to go.
Lorraine and Laura are so attentive and care for their guests. To the point they noticed I’d taken a wrong turn and called me to check I was ok.
Would highly recommend to all GGW travellers .

Had a nice comfortable & friendly stay at this b&b on the Great Glen Way. The room was clean and comfortable though a little small, though there was a lounge for guests use. Breakfast was good and set one up for a days hiking.
They will give you an evening meal if you ask in advance (as this is almost the only place in the area). I had elected to eat at the Barge on the canal and was kindly given a lift there as it's some way down the very busy A82 trunk road.
Whilst it's on the main road, it's set well back so there's no noise - just be aware that walking to it requires careful foot work for a short while on grass verges to avoid the traffic.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to read that you had a comfortable stay and that you enjoyed breakfast. We acknowledge that the twin you were in is a slightly smaller room than others in the guest house however we are pleased that you found it comfortable. We also acknowledge that to reach us, by foot, you have to walk along the side of a busy road (at that time of day) which is why we offer a pick up service from Laggan Lock. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your GGW experience.

I loved staying here as Lorraine and Laura were so welcoming. I am gluten free and nightshade free and they accommodated me so well with a delicious spaghetti bolognaise, garlic bread and the best ginger cake ever all gluten and nightshade free meal and breakfast was equally perfect. They also provided me with a great pack lunch with a fabulous flapjack. They get as much as they can locally or cook themselves. The lodge is comfortable, good size room, and clean. I had a great night sleep as the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. We were pick up and deliver back from Laggan Locks to save us walking along a busy road. We stayed here because we were doing the Great Glenn Way but I would certainly stay here again if I was in the area again.
