We were driving from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and picked this B&B for 2 nights as a mid-way stop. This was our first time to Playa Matapalo and we fell in love with both the beach and the B&B. The location is a quick walk to the beach and offers a relaxing and peaceful vibe. The rooms are well appointed, the breakfast was very good, and the small pool provided a great way to cool down after a long beach walk. We had a couple of extra days at the end of our trip and loved the B&B so much that we returned for an additional 2 nights.
This really was a great find. Everything about the place is perfect, the hosts are extremely professional in what they do and at the same time warm, friendly and helpful. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend this lovely place.
We stayed here 1 night as we were travelling down the Pacific coast. It is 5 mins drive from the highway (easy to find) and 2 mins walk from the beach. A lovely haven of tranquility. Nice room - large bed, aircon, great bathroom with wet room shower. dinner options are a short walk or 5 mins in car. Breakfast is excellent; home made bread, jams, great scrambled eggs etc. Owners are dutch and so breakfast is European style/standard. As everyone says - sloths in the palms in the garden/in the lane outside!!!! Would certainly stay here again.
If you like peace and quiet and a fantastic location this is THE place to be. Lettika and Gijs have created their own little slice of heaven in the tropics. They truly understand what running a B&B is all about. Small scale B&B with a total of 6 rooms, adults only. Beautiful grounds and dito pool and the place is spotless. Location is superb! Short stroll to the endless beaches of Matapalo Puntarenas, between Quepos-Manual Antonio (25km North) and the surfers town Dominical (19km South) You can walk the beach for hours! We had booked the new upstairs junior suite. The covered and screened in outdoor porch attached to the suite was fantastic, sipping our morning coffee watching monkeys playing in the trees. We very much enjoyed our stay!
This was our last stop in Costa Rica and we found it easily about 5 minutes away from the main Pacific highway. We were met by Lettika who welcomed us warmly and immediately introduced us to a mother 2 toed sloth and her baby living right outside the property in a palm tree! Wow! We had treated ourselves to the suite and it was stunning. It's really large and luxurious with a fantastic terrace and great furniture. The bed is a king, great shower and effective aircon. Just perfect. The pool area is lovely with fantastic plantings attracting a myriad of butterflies and even hummingbirds, it's also really clean and big enough to swim in! It also has swim up bar where they prepare fresh cocktails for you! There is tea and coffee always freely available which was a welcome touch. Breakfast was varied and freshly prepared to order. For me, the best thing is the location. The property lies just few minutes walk to the longest beach which has an abundance of bird life and very few people! It is also fringed by the jungle which is positively brimming with sloths! I met a guy called Alex who runs tours from Rafiki beach camp and he showed me where to look and what trees they liked...it was amazing! I went on a fascinating kayak tour with him which was also fab and went horse riding with Claudia where we not only galloped down the beach but saw avery active 2 toed sloth which is a real rarity. We stayed 6 nights at Jardin de los Monos and loved every moment... especially the noisy monkies, shy kinkajo, black squirrels, occasional toucans and assorted parrots. It has a real charm and we definitely will be returning. Thankyou!…
