An excellent hotel in every way...location, views, tidy garden, rooms, public areas, food at dinner (chain the Chef to the stove he is excellent), excellent breakfast (fresh orange juice please), friendly and efficient staff, spotlessly clean. The restaurant food is Michelin quality We shall return on our next visit north

This is an absolutely charming place in a beautiful setting. It's comfortable and gastronomic. But there is more than a touch of Fawlty Towers about it, which rather takes the edge off what would otherwise have been a brief idyll in Galloway. It is certainly not cheap, but a good bed, fine breakfasts and memorable dinners add up to reasonable...

Location idyllic, staff very helpful and friendly. Food excellent with a good choice. Hotel bedroom and lounges pleasantly decorated. A very enjoyable break. Lovely coastal position with local walks and places of interest nearby. Gardens, castles and golf courses nearby.

A fabulous place at the end of the road, a real hidden gem. Super friendly staff and so helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is fabulous - local and fresh. Delicious. The hotel sits right on the beach and is so very atmospheric. Complete silence except for sound of sea and wildlife. So relaxing. Rooms lovely with lovely...

Well appointed location on the shore of Balcary Bay with views of Cumbria, on a clear day. Our room was a bay view room and was worth paying the extra for it. Listening to the waves lapping on the shore and sea birds was very relaxing. The setting is peaceful and tranquil and the hotel is a calm haven. The...

Balcary Bay House Hotel has so many great points but a few very annoying quirks that distract from the experience. The great points, amazing views, fantastic setting and clean and tidy. Lovely food and great service. Now for the negative. Check in is from 3pm but when we arrived there was nobody at reception. When someone did arrive they said...

My darling husband booked us 3 nights here as a present for my 60th birthday, as we had visited it before just for lunch and he knew I would love to stay here. The location of this hotel is absolutely gorgeous - right on the shore of Balcary Bay and so peaceful and quiet. The hotel itself is a quite...

We are repeat visitors to this lovely small hotel. It is always warm, clean, well decorated and perfectly situated for views across the bay and an ever changing coastal landscape. It's quiet, which suits us, but which would probably not be what young families with children would look for. Book early if you want one of the three ground floor...

This is a lovely hotel. The food is great, the hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. BUT. The owner/manager should learn to respect his staff and customers. His moods and the way he speaks to people makes you wonder why he is in the business. Pity, as this hotel is in such a lovely...
