Arrived late Sunday afternoon and were able to get a table in the conservatory without any problem. Main courses were good but after serving the mains nobody came back into the conservatory to ask if we needed any more drinks. Eventually we had to go through to the bar to place our order. The sticky toffee pudding was good but...

Driving from Inverness to Durham, we passed this place right around dinner time so a quick turnaround got us back to quite a packed restaurant. My wife & I got the Roast Sirloin of Beef dinner and OMG!!! It was really, really good. Nice stop, friendly servers!!! Two thumbs up 👍👍!!!

Fantastic hosts to our three-day writing retreat at Carfraemill. They provided two work rooms which suited our needs, tea and coffee and baked treats for the guests throughout the day, and rooms and dinner for our guests. Everyone was delighted with their spacious, clean rooms, and the food was A+. Highly recommended!

We stopped here for lunch on the way to the North of England and we were most impressed by the staff, the menus choices and the terrific value for money. If you are looking for a lovely relaxed break on the journey up or down the A68 take time to stop and enjoy this excellent hotel.

Went for food only. Service was average, food was quick. But the main chicken is £11 on it is own... it came slightly charcoal and small. All the sides were extra costs of £3.50-2.50. Ordered rosemary potatoes, but came as roast potatoes whilst my partner had to pay for a side of mushrooms. Standard place to go but would not...

Visiting my sister for Christmas. The hotel was open on Christmas Day and provided their excellent breakfast on Boxing Day even though officially closed. We were guests for four nights as we didn't want to be under my sister's feet all the time over the festive season.A comfortable welcoming hotel where nothing is too much trouble for owners Jim and...

We travelled on an extremely cold day. Carfraemill was very warm and welcoming. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had a really good evening meal served by the friendly staff and breakfast was equally as good.

We had an overnight stay after a day at the races. It was warm and inviting and all staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. The only slight negative was that there was no separate lounge for guests. However, guests can have a drink or sit in the dining area, or take drinks to their...

On seating we were advised that the fryers were not working which limited the menu significantly. Asking if,under the circumstances, the chef could provide an all day breakfast we were told absolutely not - not the welcoming and friendly reception we expected! We were then told the Ham was also not available after ordering drinks - we decided to persevere...

We received a warm welcome & were seated promptly. The decor is very tasteful & there is a lovely ambience. The menu was extensive, prices were reasonable & we thoroughly enjoyed our choices of steak pie & scampi. Service was prompt & all the staff were very professional & friendly. Can highly recommend & would certainly eat here again should...
