I booked this for one night , note it is the Cross foxes Trawsfynydd not the one further south . Huge room but damp walls , filthy carpet , a kettle but no cups or tea/milk . Dead flies in the lampshade , dodgy plug for bedside light . Wind blasting through windows blowing blinds about . Dingy bathroom ....

Dropped in here with friend and three children, after a scramble up to the Blue Lake. Had tried to get a drink at The George, but having queued for 20 minutes to try and get to the bar, due to exceedingly slow service, we gave up and arrived at the Cross Foxes very hungry and a bit scruffy. The staff...

After a day of hardcore rain and wind on our cycling trip through Wales, we were looking for a campsite we'd heard about. We went into The Cross Foxes hotel to ask for directions and possibly have something to eat. We ended up falling in love with the place; Simon, the new owner, is so unbelievably generous and helpful we...

Stayed here recently with friends on a walking trip. The landlord Simon is very friendly and it was cheap (I paid £25 a night) but don't go expecting amazing things at that price. Importantly the pub itself can be noisy until the early hours at the weekend which isn't fully blocked out by the ear plugs provided. The bedroom I...

Myself and husband stayed here for a night, seems lovely on first sight. However, room was very noisy due to single glazed window over a busy road. Plus the white shutters let lots of light in very early. There is damp creeping in around window and double bed is actually two singles bolted together, of which the bedding was torn....

We stayed one night to break a journey S. to N. Wales over Easter Set at the foot of Cader Idris, which was covered in snow on the day of our visit,,the views were simply stunning. On the junction of the A470 and the A487 it is a very convenient place to stop. The Cross foxes has undergone extensive modernisation...

I really want to thank the owners and all of the staff at the Cross Foxes for the warm welcome and friendly hospitality. This is such a great place to stay; the rooms are decorated and furnished in a modern style yet some original features meant there was plenty of character, and no expense was spared with the little extras...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mark and Sharon, the new owners of The Cross Foxes Hotel, extend a warm and friendly welcome to visitors to our part of Wales. We are currently refurbishing the hotel and have been advised that a WTB 3 star grade is a probable outcome. Visitors will delight in the location as the views from the hotel are spectacular, situated as we are a few hundred feet above sea level. As well as the fabulous fishing available at Trawsfynydd Lake, we are only about 5 miles away from the Coed-y-Brenin National Mountain Bike and Ski Centre. We could go on about how fantastic it is around here but why don't you come see for yourself. ... more   less
