The presentation, building is all very nice, as you walk in the seafood display us impressive. It pretty much disappoints after this. Cosy, comfortable dining areas but staff a little aloof, an odd casual indifference. A little arrogant. Menu looks interesting with decent selection of meets and fish. Unfortunately the meals we ordered were over done (paella) or had that... More

Despite living in the area for over 20 years, we had not been to the Beaufort until last night when we dined out with six friends. It was so good we all agreed we would definitely go again. The new owner (I don't know how long he has been there) has clearly uplifted the venue and the place was busy... More

called in for lunch, and very impressed with the deco and staff, with fresh fish on show, I went for the whitebait as a starter, but when it came was overcooked, resulting in the fish being dry and crisp, maincourse I went for the hake with homecooked chips, but the chips were cut by a machine and came out like chips from a... A picture postcard hotel and brasserie in the heart of beautiful Monmouthshire. We stayed here for one night so that we could attend a wedding at nearby Llansantffraid Court and it was well worth the trip. The room we had was light and spacious with a sizeable en suite bathroom and one of those fantastic showers with a head the... More

We have now been to the Beaufort Arms 5 times. The Beaufort has a new owner. It has been taken over by a Spanish gentleman, and he has been putting a subtly Spanish style to this old favourite. Nothing gaudy at all, simply some little touches here and there, and changes to the menu. The food is if anything better... More

A last minute bank holiday dash into Monmouthshire saw us staying at this hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful and the room was comfortable. We managed to get a table in the restaurant even tho' it was gone 9pm. Meal was great and had a Spanish theme, lots of choice. The only minor disappointment was the breakfast, not a... More

Well I first reviewed this place back in May when I visited after many years! I have visited several times since and the only thing consistent is the inconsistency with the food! Service however remains fair at best! Today arrived and there was no parking to be had despite it being 1210 hrs so parked a little way away and... More

I booked just a few days before my stay selected as the price was reasonable and the nearest hotel to the driving event I was attending. Check-in was welcoming and efficient, and there was a good lively atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area early Sunday evening. I was on my own and allocated a twin-bedded room, which was very clean and... More

We booked for 5 on the Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The menu on the website looked lovely and a couple of us were particularly looking forward to the choice of fish. We specifically asked about vegetarian options and were assured that there would be several choices. On arrival we were dismayed to see that not only was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beaufort is under new ownership since October 2015 and has had a vast refurbishment throughout. The rooms in the main hotel building have been tastefully decorated with rich sumptuous medieval colours whilst the Coach House has a fresh "New England" style decor. The inn oozes quality and old world charm. The food is brasserie style with a Mediterranean twist and you can see the fresh fish and seafood on display in the lovely display counter at the restaurant entrance. There are 2 course lunch and evening special menus which are very good value and a full a la carte menu complemented by a vast wine list. ... more   less
