As many have said, this is not a resort with yoga classes on the side. This is an ashram, a spiritual place where people go to learn, to teach, to serve and get in touch with your inner self. The accommodations are modest, mostly shared, the activities start and end early, and the food follows the ayurvedic tradition not containing...

If you have a relaxing beachfront yoga vacation retreat in paradise in mind, this may not be the place for you. The ashram is located in a quiet and beautiful beachfront location in the Bahamas. It has picturesque views with Palm trees, ocean waves, soft sand and clear skies but the ashram itself is another story. The ashram is far...

Second time here, and I love this place. Guests and staff are all wonderful and kind. Great workshops and classes to take during the midday, yoga every morning and evening on a beautiful deck on the water. Great secluded spots to sit and think, read a book, meditate. Great beach too. My only complaint is the food, its gets tiring....

Accomodations: It’s an ashram! Do not go for the “hotel” experience, it is not a hotel. The atmosphere is very low-key and at times, stern/serious, as is fitting for such a place. Some of the resident yoga students are lovely and bubbly but most are in a clique and don’t acknowledge your presence whatsoever. Can’t beat the location; one of...

I really have a hard time deciding what I liked best about our vacations at the ashram. There is plenty to make a perfect stay: inspiring morning and evening satsang, great yoga teachers, awesome (!!!) food, interesting activities and events, cool people, gorgeous nature. We stayed at a deluxe beachfront room which has an amazing view and terrace. Falling asleep...

This was my second trip to Shivananda Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas. Beautiful location, perfect weather, 2 yoga classes a day, 2 meditation/chanting/lectures a day, optional other classes, vegetarian meals. On this trip, the yoga instructors were excellent, and unlike my previous visit, the food was fantastic. Accomodations range from tent to dorm to tiny cabin to hotel rooms. They...

I came to the yoga retreat for a relaxing week of beach, sun, and yoga and left with so much more. I was able to take two yoga classes a day where the teachers were extremely knowledgeable, and were able to guide the students through a deep class that leaves you refreshed, and ready to face the day. After a...

I stayed here October 19-26, 2014, sharing a beachfront room in Yamuna cottage with a friend. We had two double beds, full bathroom, a/c, spacious terrace with chairs and table. That's the only accommodation I would consider if coming to ashram for a vacation. It was my second stay at the ashram, and the third visit. I wrote my first...

I attended the Sivananda Ashram from 10/5/14 to 10/11/14, and took two courses, the "Essentials of Yoga II" taught by Sivakami, and "Infuse Your Writing With Yoga," taught by Virginia Francis Schwartz. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who is so devoted to the ashram. It was a life-changing experience for me. For those seeking and searching for something more, the...
