We thoroughly enjoyed our apartment at Hillcrest. We stayed in the Tropical Suite, which is a nice sized one bedroom apartment. This guest house is not fancy, but very, very well located and exactly what we wanted and expected from reading the website. The views are phenomenal. And everyone gets a view, because no matter which unit you have, there...

Phyllis Hall is a marvelous hostess who will accommodate your preferences when she stocks the fridge with complimentary foods and beverages. In addition she provides beach chairs and an assortment of supplies to take to the beach, as well as DVDs and paperbacks (the TV gets 4 stations). We stayed in the Orchid Suite, which doesn't have a view of...

I stayed here during Love City Live 2014. This was ideally located within a less than 5 minute walk to downtown. The room was very clean and PERFECTLY priced. You will NOT find a better deal in St. John. Phyllis Hall was a GREAT hostess. The refrigerator was stocked with beer and wine!!! Yeah BEER AND WINE!!! The most affordable...

As a summary: this place is rundown, a bit untidy and unclean and generally too expensive for what it is. The experience started off in the wrong foot. We sent an email before arriving to ask how to get from the ferry to the guesthouse. The owner replied with ONE word: “taxi”. Maybe saying welcome or hi is too hard!...

There are no bed bugs on St. John. I use to work with the Division of Environmental Health. Some get bit by sand flies at the beach at dusk and don't feel it until at rest. Seeing his problem stateside, I take preventative measure: encapsulate mattress and pillow, spray after cleaning and electronic devices. My website gives details how to...

I stayed there for 3 nights. The whole stay is OK. The lady who own the place is very nice. The place is actually not far from cruz bay but if you walk it still take a while. The condition of the place is not perfect but consider every accommodation on St. John is ridiculously high, it's still a nice...

I should cut and paste some of the other 5 star reviews. What's not to like here? Phyllis is a great host and so many extras are thrown in at no charge it's crazy. Your room comes with rum, tequila, and vodka on the house. And the mixers...and eggs and bacon to make breakfast in the well finished kitchenette. And...

I decided for my vacation this year I was going to St. John virgin islands. I choose Hillcrest because it seemed to be a alternative to the traditional tourist hotel experience. Plus that price was great and close to Cruz bay. When I arrive to Hillcrest I was greeted with a warm smile and great welcoming spirit from Phylis Hall...

The suites are very pretty with windows or air conditioner. Kitchen is equip with blender, coffee maker,...

Found Hilcrest online and we were very pleased with our stay. Location is great, very clean room and well stocked for all your needs. Great view and Phyllis was very sweet. Our only complaints were that the bed is a bit slumpy and the noise from Cruz Bay at night from the bars is extremely loud. Besides the that we...

I'd like to thank B. Moore of NYC, for the review. All of the beds and the futons have a foam topper from QVC. I even have one on my bed, but each person is different and have their own preferece. Cruz Bay does have music coming from downtown and that is why I installed air condition. Again, not everyone...
