We enjoyed our second stay at Crystal Palace even more than our first two years ago. Ronnie provides an atmosphere and flavor that cannot not be duplicated. The history of the island as told by Ronnie, the amazing architecture of the building and the privacy he affords was exactly what we were seeking. Each room is unique. Breakfast is wonderful... If you are looking for amenities like a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and room service, the Crystal Palace is not for you. However, if you want to get a genuine for what life is like in Charlotte Amalie, this is the place. The building is an older manor house up a steep hill from the downtown waterfront. But, if you... The Crystal Palace is wonderfully funky, with period pieces, interesting art, great space and one of the best views on the island. Ronnie has the scoop on the island and was a great chauffeur. It's true, the place needs work but it is in a great location. Streets are well lit and had no trouble walking into town and back... More

I can see why people have been disappointed. This place is older and not in the best condition. Breakfast is very minimal if at all: cereal boxes and pastries in a cellophane bag. However, the view is fantastic, the house is fascinating and the pick up from the airport is greatly appreciated on an island where taxi fees are phenomenal.... More

This was not a good place to stay - the neighborhood did not seem safe to walk in after dark, our air did not work very well, the house is old, dated, shower was falling apart, there was no water pressure the first day, and the second day before we left for the airport there was no water at all,... The Crystal Palace was formerly a grand residence, and is filled with interesting objects and antique furniture. Our host, Ronnie, was extremely personable and picked us up at the airport. We enjoyed getting to know him and learned a lot about St. Thomas because his family has lived there for several generations. However, the guest rooms are shabby and unclean,... More

This is a bed and breakfast which feels more like home or at least staying at a relative's gorgeous mansion. Ronnie will give you all the inside scoop on the island, since he knows everyone and is 6th generation native. The place has loads of charm and character, plus a whole lot of mahogany! Recommended.

If you just want to check into a place, watch TV, and go to the pool, this is not your place. Find a chain hotel and pay 4x the price. This place is the epitome of authenticity.I stayed here for a month in one of the rooms without a bathroom, and it has never been a problem. The owner, Ronnie,... More

First off, if you are looking for a resort with a pool and want to be anonymous stay at Bluebeard's. If you want an intimate experience in an authentic STT home and it's owner, stay here! Part of the appeal to me was to be in an old home surrounded by beautiful antiques, with a wonderful view. I had already... More
