My young daughter and I stayed in the Condos for 3 months (Jan - Mar) it was a great location for us. We were in Unit #112, which was clean and well maintained. The Condos have two pools but the best is the one facing the Marina, the view is spectacular. The condo community was wonderful, we met lovely people including locals and 'new locals' (mainland US retirees) who gave us all kinds of tips. As others have mentioned it is a 10-15 min walk downtown to the Christiansted Boardwalk. We never walked at night but I felt totally safe walking down in the day as a female with a young child. A really well supplied general store/hardware store and several restaurants are within 5 min walk including No Bones, Maria's Mexican and the Bistro. We especially liked the Ocean View Cafe, a very small, very local diner in the marina itself. Also a bookstore , bank, and the post office within 5 min There is a popular walking/jogging park in the nearby Altona Lagoon, with wonderful yoga facing the ocean (not a place to hang at night though). This is an active marina so shore supply ships come in, usually one/day except Sunday. Really fun to see the sailing ships that also came in including the Roseway and a Wood's Hole ship. We liked seeing the ships and activity. You can hear the cargo ships as they come in and offload so in the condo units closest and facing the marina, daily morning coffee out on the terraces isn't a great option (we went up to the pool - wonderful!). But if you plan to head out for the day and come back to eat in for the evening, any noise won't matter. The road in front of the condos is often potholed but will be paved this coming summer 2022. The condo property is well maintained, with friendly and helpful staff. We'll be back!

We stayed in a 2BR unit in Schooner Bay this February and just loved it! The units are beautifully furnished, with huge balconies off both the master bedroom, and living room. Very clean, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Our unit even supplied lots of beach towels in addition to bath towels and linens. Great views of Christiansted harbor and the mountains. Great location because you can walk to everything. A one minute walk brings you to quaint Gallows Bay, where you can pick up your morning coffee and paper, chat with the locals and enjoy the morning breeze. 5 - 10 minute walk to downtown Christiansted waterfront, with all the shops, restaurants, clubs, and watersports outfits you could ask for. Also right there is the high-speed ferry to St. Thomas, and the 1-minute ferry to Protestant Cay, with one of the best beaches in St. Croix. The complex also has 2 swimming pools, hot-tub, and tennis courts. The pools have a spectacular view, and were extremely popular with the children vacationing there. A perfect combination of romantic privacy and easy access to the vibrant culture of island life. We can't wait to go back!!

We first visited St. Croix in November of 2010; we decided to look for a place to get us out of the unpredictable New England winters. After searching several Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Central America et, we remembered about St. Croix. Lat january we found a lovely, affordable condo overlooking Christiansted harbor. Below us in Gallows Bay there is a mini mall in which there are 3 restaurants, one an especially good breakfast /lunch place called the Bistro, an authentic Mexican restaurant and No Bones, a local staple, very good. A 15 minute walk or 3 min. drive gets us into Christiansted in which there are several excellent eateries, including Savant (right outside town), Galangal, Zion, 40 Strand and Balter, each better than the other!. There are many juice bars and other places serving a variety of cuisines at varyiny price points. There is some good shopping and live music most nights including a funky motorcycle shop which becomes a "club" a night replete with an elevated stage and piano player/ singer and guest singers!. There are many gorgeous beaches, the Hotel on the Cay has one which, after a 5 min. ferry ride you can relax on a pretty beach, eat some lunch and listen to reggae. Another close beach is at the Buccaneer Hotel, another in Sugar Beach; these are both 10 min. by car and are open to the public. A further ride (20 min) takes you to the Divi (the resort at which we stayed in 2010) which has white sand, restaurants, entertainment and a small casino. Of course, some say that West is best so riding from Christiansted to Fredericksted (where the cruise ships come in), about 30 minutes by car boasts wonderful local art, gorgeous beaches including Rainbow Beach, some fun beach bars and good food and music at night. Additionally, we were able to see the holiday parades in Fredericksted which took place mid Dec - early Jan. The next street celebration will be in the beginning of Feb. when there is Jump Up in Christiansted; Fredericksted will celebrate as well. For divers, Buck Is. is the place as are some of the the NW beaches including Cane Bay. We can't say enough about St. Croix, are currently renovating our condo, putting in a new kitchen etc. and planning on many more winters here. To some extent, we would like to keep this secret to ourselves but, on the other hand, a couple of reviews were so surprising that we felt we had to add our comments. Btw, we attended the free movie night in Christiansted at the bandstand last night, for the first time. We brought some amazing take our from Galangal, a bottle of wine and sat under the stars barefooted with some of the other locals watchig the movie; we'll be going back again

I stayed in St. Croix for two weeks and enjoyed my stay there, however if I were to visit there again I would not stay in the Schooner Bay Condos. The condo itself was very nice and spacious with a fully stocked kitchen and comfortable beds, but the location just plain ------. It's advertised as being a 5 minute walk from the beach, but by beach they mean the small board walk area which is nice for dining out and watching boats sale, but doesn't have a public beach for swimming and what not. My aunt has been living in these condos for the past 3 months and also agrees with the problems with the location. The two weeks I was there I also encountered a variety of other problems, which included a maintanance staff that was very slow to fix things. For example the drier broke about a week before I got there and it took another week just to have someone come over to look at it. After checking out the problem, we were then informed that a part had to be ordered and it would take another 2 weeks before it could get fixed. They finally did fix the problem, 3 weeks later! There were also other maintanance requests that took just as long..but I guess you can chalk it up to island time! I really did enjoy my stay in St. Croix though and would definitely consider returning again, just with a different condo or resort.

We stayed at the Schooner Bay Condos, it is a well taken care of development, the pool has a great view of Christiansted and the harbor. This condo development is very close to town but it is not a walking distance. There are a few very good restaurants close by.

We were exploring these condominiums and fell in love. The view from the 1st pool was a million dollar view. The weather was always beautiful. You need to be able to handle the heat :). It takes a while to get used to. We will be returning in September.

We found the Schooner Bay Condominiums on VRBO. The unit we rented on VRBO is no longer available there. However, due to all the FEMA workers having nearly all the hotels booked on the island, this was a very good option for us. We made dinner one night in the unit, but were mostly on St. Croix to scuba dive and we didn’t spend a ton of time there nor did we check out the pools at all. Loved having laundry and a full size frig in the unit. Would definitely rent this unit again.
