I stayed here for a very quick vacation. The check in desk is very friendly, but is only open a few hours a day. The suite is very small, no ocean view, the bed is very loud, the shower stall is very small, and the wifi cuts out in the bathroom. I don't think it's worth what I paid. The area is very touristy, so expect loud music until the long hours of the night. The hotel is very close to the pier.

The poor rating started first thing when we couldn’t even find the hotel or which door to use. There was a sign asking guests to call when they arrived but no one answers. Thankfully a local who owned the bar across the alley was able to get us in. Every single sound, including the exact words from the tv, could be heard from the room above us. I’ve never stayed anywhere, including old apartments from my college years, that allowed so much sound to travel to other rooms. The towels had yellow and brown stains on them. The TV barely worked, which was fine since we were out most of the time but we like to watch tv before bed. The pool was closed and only filled halfway with brown water—you’d think during high season they’d have their pool open. Two stars were given for the location.

The advertisement didn’t match what I received. Between the bugs and just overall condition of the room, incredibly old and just had a dirty feel, it had me terrified. The room look like it hasn’t had a deep clean in years. The bed skirt was ripped, and so was under the couch. You could see the moisture on the ceiling and rust on the tub. You could also see super thick layers of dust and dirt between the bed frame and the table. There was no keeping or saving food because the little roaches came out immediately. I should’ve known something was wrong when I saw other people leaving early. I Did end up leaving early after seeing 3+ bugs in one sitting, this was after someone brought up raid and we sprayed the room. I felt fine upon arriving to the island/hotel, but immediately because congested and unable to breathe the longer I stayed in that room. As soon as I checked out and left I slowly started being able to breathe again. I absolutely won’t be returning or booking here again, I’ll spend the extra money and go to King Christian instead.

Don't let the great location fool you. You'd be better off taking your business elsewhere. We stayed for one night, and that night we weren't able to sleep until way past midnight due to extremely loud party music playing across the street. This was made worse by the fact that we had to catch an early ferry the next morning. While I admit the music is out of the hotel's control, the windows in our hotel room didn't close, meaning there was no way to shut out the extremely loud sounds. I don't think a room with permanently-open windows qualifies as a sleepable accommodation, especially with loud party music right next door. I contacted the hotel about a refund afterward, which I didn't receive because the manager said I didn't contact the front desk the night of my stay. My hazy, 2 am memory does recall trying to call, but it must have been a different number for the hotel because the manager didn't receive anything on her end. Either way, even if we had been re-located to a quieter room, having to change rooms in the middle of the night due to the first room being unsleepable would've anyway resulted in a 1-star review, so nothing short of a refund would really make me change my mind. All in all, avoid this place.

Hello Leslie, Thank you for your review and welcome to the TA community as a new member with your first review! We are sorry to learn of your disappointment with your accommodations. Certainly if we would have received communication from you at some point of your one-night stay with us, we could have tried to find an amicable solution to any challenges if there were any. However we are pleased that you stayed with us and provided your feedback. Our prime location on the Christiansted Boardwalk makes it easy for guests to experience the best of St. Croix including restaurants and entertainment all steps from the hotel. We hope that you will come back to see us again to experience the warm island hospitality that so many folks have enjoyed over the years and that makes us a favorite choice on the island. All the best and be well!

This review is written for a friend who is unable to write the review. This hotel apparently has fallen on hard times. My friend said that when arrived at the hotel. There was an note on the door advising her to call a number and they told her she can pick up the key from desk . The staff had gone home. She is physically challenged and she is on oxygen. The key to the room for a second floor room. There were no first floor rooms open for occupancy! The elevator was broken. She could not stay at the hotel. She tried days before arriving to contact someone to request a first floor room. She tried for days to get someone on the phone. No one picked up.
Please do not stay at this hotel unless you willing to take a chance.

Book at your own risk! I feel like this place is a scam… My wife and I from Las Vegas booked a suite for our honeymoon with a King bed and couch. However the room we received is 2 double beds and 5 lounge chairs. This is not what we booked or expected. The room is filthy and looks like it hasnt been cleaned in years. There’s a boarded up window and exposed hole where the AC unit drains right over the bed. All furniture looks and feels dirty. The ceiling fans have inches of dust on them. We are not staying here not even one night, we don’t feel comfortable staying here. When we called the office about the bed mix up he said “I don’t know why this keeps happening”. The owner came by and said they couldn’t do anything until the next day and even then a room switch wasn’t guaranteed. For the amount of money they are asking it absolutely doesn’t add up. When we tried to notify the owner that we wouldn’t be staying and need to cancel and dispute, he started sending us straight to voicemail so we started a claim with Expedia to at least get the ball rolling. This was a devastating experience.

The room was very cozy and had a nice view. The ac worked well. I enjoyed a warm shower after exploring the island. The hotel had a beautiful antique vibe to it. The breakfast was not appetizing as it had flies but other than that the hotel has great accommodations. For the price you can beat it. I also enjoyed the soft bed sheets, the location and Peking is accessible easily across the street. You don’t have to pay additional for parking which is great. The hotel staff are amazing and very helpful they Evan gave me a after hours assistance. Anytime you need something they respond. The room was top quality.

Before I start, this hotel was built in the 1700’s so it’t obviously old but throw in a couple of hurricanes and Covid over the past few years, and it’s not been treated well. I feel for these guys because the staff has been super super nice and accommodating. The property has some history, including the original hand crank elevator (obviously mo longer in use, but cool to see). There is housekeeping service and our late check in was contactless. Limited staff but the entrance requires a code. Our room had the best view (ask for corner room 29 facing the harbor). Our first room was a two story suite with a balcony and view but I think it hadn’t been occupied for some time and just needed a freshen up. We called after 8pm and the manager on call switched us right away. Easy peasy. Not a big deal. If you are looking for amenities, this is not it but we didn’t care. Pool is closed and no breakfast but plenty of places for that just outside the door. The Courtyard next door is also a full on spa with yoga and fitness classes. Fantastic place to fill the amenity void. Plus, who needs a pool when the best one on the planet is steps away? We came for the adventure and views not to stay inside and this place is in a perfect location. 40 Eats and RAW (Rum And Wine Bar) at the street level of the hotel are seriously not to be missed! Amazing food and staff. Thank you Bob and Sharif for accommodating us and being so responsive! My Birthday week has been amazing! :)

You get what you pay for If you want all the thrills of a resort do not go. If you want convenient real deal experience. This place is history the moment you drive up. Originally built in 1756 you can tell you can feel it and it’s one for the memory books.

Pictures are NOT current, rooms are very bare. The pool is very run down and closed. Unlike what website states, there is no breakfast and no bar, Windows and doors are open to the elements. Front desk staff is only available about 2 hours a day.

We were there last fall and did not have any problems with bed bugs or construction. The early morning rooster crowing got a bit tiresome but that part of the deal when staying downtown.
