No lounge chairs or tables at the pool. Junk all around the property. There is not a bar or a restaurant here. They put out a “ breakfast buffet” in the mornings which was eggs to order on a grill and a couple other things. Makeshift bar set up on a folding table. People are super nice but this place needs a lot of work to say the least. Pictures are very deceiving on the website. Rooms were run down but the view was awesome. Very low pressure in the shower and it drained slowly over a couple hours. Bed was comfy. Tiny coffee pot was dirty and the fridge was rusty on the outside. Stray cats make your porch theirs so don’t leave your door open because they will come in. This place has so much potential but it would take a fortune to get it up to par.

Odd booking. Started in one cottage moved to much better unit. Units need serious deep cleaning. Kitchen, 1 bowl lol. New refrigerator freezes food. Pool clean, infinity and hot tub gone. No notice of events on premise. No continental nor any breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful but struggling without a system and management. Great location, beach is beautiful.

The place in its prime was likely beautiful and the place to be. Currently in need of TLC. I rated it 4 of 5 because I can see the potential as long as you know what you’re in for…by no means does the resort look like the outdated photos but still a charming place. The service at the bar excellent, enjoyed talking with Sam nightly, sometimes daily, she’s always there. Currently no restaurant on property not even a BBQ available. We did prepare meals in our kitchen. Pool in ok shape, not many loungers by pool or beach as pictures show, but the beach a serene area, may be best on the island. If you go in expecting high end, you’ll be disappointed. Stay there with open mind and nobody said it’s the Ritz either. Sunsets and views are gorgeous

We booked this property based on the reviews. Not sure where those folks at but it couldn’t have been here. We woke up three days in a row to no hot water. Had to go hunt down the handy man Tyson, who was awesome, to get the hot water running again. Any time we needed clean towels or toiletries we had to go to the office and wait from them to bring what we requested, they didn’t have any soap the final day. We were there seven days and the bungalow WAS NOT CLEANED ONCE! Seriously?!?! The bar was fun. The food was really good but a limited menu. I realize the owners say it is a work in progress but the bungalows are disappointing and should not be rented until renovated. There is a lack of functional kayaks compared to the number of people who wanted to use them. If we could have found a vacancy somewhere else on the island, we would have left. We will not be returning and have already suggested to a few friends planning on a trip to St. Croix to not book here.

unclean. rust on fridge, corroded door handles, nasty pool (not even marked for depth) no bath mats, stained beach towels and live roaches. We stayed 2 nights. For $250 a night. I’m not joking when I say it was preferable to face hurricane strength winds to pick a different hotel on a new island.

The cottage we stayed in had roaches and ants. The bedding was not washed. The tiles in the bathroom was full of scum and the faucets were not connected properly. The plunger and the toilet bowl brush were stored in plastic bags. The towels were old with stains on them. The jetted tub had rust around the port holes. There was mold on the beams in the ceiling in the front room. The air was damp and the pages in our book dampened. The furniture was old and worn and needed steam cleaning or replacement. The pool was under construction but there was nothing preventing someone from falling into the empty hole which is a huge safety hazard. The pots and pans were old and had food stains on them and the cutting board had old food in the grooves. The dishwashing liquid was watered down and the cleaning sponge was old and had been used. The outlet was open in the bedroom with no face plate. The closet door was missing so in order to have light, you had to manually screw the light bulb in and out. One of the chairs on the porch had a broken leg so only one of us could sit down.
This resort is not recommended at this time. Maybe if they do a complete overhaul in the near future it can be reconsidered but not now. Staying there was like camping indoors.

Our family of three stayed in adjoining bungalows 47 and 48. The rooms were clean and the porches were a great place to start our mornings and watch the sunset. When we visit St. Croix, we are in the water for most of our trip, so we really just need a place to sleep. We were happy they had a refrigerator and used both of them. We didn't cook, but used some of the dishes for cereal and sandwiches. One bathroom looked newer than the other, I think they are constantly remodeling something. They offer a lot of amenities that we didn't use because we were busy exploring the island. We chose this place because of it's location. It is right on the beach. We can grab our masks and be in the water in two minutes. The water in the bay is calm and there are beautiful fish to see. There isn't a lot of coral formations, but we saw a turtle and an eel, and plenty of beautiful fish. I took one of the kayaks out and it was a peaceful way to spend the morning. We love that it's close to Christiansted, but still feels isolated. There were several occasions where we were the only people on the beach, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Spend 4 nights here and am so happy with our decision. Bungalows in the Bay has new owners as of late 2022 and they are gradually renovating the entire property. We stayed in Bungalow 41 - amazing water view and so peaceful and quiet. Bungalow was very clean and comfortable, roomy and AC worked perfectly. Bathroom needs little updating but again, everything worked well and it was very clean. The beach at BoBs (as the locals call it) is nice the bar/restaurant is vibrant with a good mix of guests and locals stopping by for food. They have nightly activities and mos important - the food is really good. Fish tacos were amazing and the cheeseburger is one of the top 5 I ever had. Also, the fries and great! The bartenders and friendly and they made an awesome painkiller. Breakfast are simple but very good. What makes Bungalows on the bay really special is the staff. Everyone at the bar/restaurant was very good, and Chermaine (sorry for spelling) at the front desk was exceptional. Highly recommend Bungalows in the Bay!

This was one of the worst vacation experiences of my life. Cockroaches in the kitchen area, bathroom and closet. We had some kind of bug crawl into a glass on the counter. The bed sheets were old and worn out. The only electric outlet for the kitchen area was behind the refrigerator and was falling out. When I tried to reach behind the refrigerator, to plug in the coffee maker, I was shocked. We were going stay a week but had to check out after one night because of the extremely poor conditions. I do not recommend this place!

Reading most of the reviews for this resort is really what's misleading. All considered, Chenay Bay was very accommodating and a great place for all in my party. For those interested in only staying at a resort and doing nothing else, they may be somewhat disappointed in the lack of activities compared to some of the higher priced facilities. However, considering the resort is still rebuilding after 2 hurricanes and a devastating fire, I believe no one should realistically expect anything better. My unit had a wonderfully kept pool right off the front porch and a private sandy white beach just beyond the pool. We came to St. Croix to enjoy the entire island, The owner and staff at Chenay Bay were amazingly nice, welcoming people. I'd stay here every year if a cottage was available.

Hi Leslie,
It's not an all-inclusive. As far as I know St Croix has only one or maybe two all-inclusive resorts. Cheney is a great base of operations if you like to explore, but if you plan to stay in one place all week you might get bored. I only ate one snack from the restaurant so I didn't rate it. The owner's grandson is running the bar and his buddy is running the kitchen, so it's a small operation, but super friendly. The quesadillas we had were good, and what I saw on other's plates looked good. They have a little bit of everything on the menu $10-$20, omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, and a couple of dinners. So it, too, is a bit limited for a full week, so you're better off exploring the island by rental car and sampling some of the many great options. Click on my profile for a good range. Have fun!
