I stayed here on the most beautiful beach Carriacou has to offer. I found that the hostesses were not friendly and charged for everything that they didn't note up front what the extra charges would be. My advice if you stay here is to have breakfast included otherwise they charge you too much for a breakfast individually. Carriacou doesn't have options to dine for breakfast easily or shop for staple food, nor does this place have a kitchen for you to make your own eggs or toast etc. The walls were thin and you could hear children playing all day, so it wasn't very peaceful until you actually set foot on that beautiful beach.

Had the great pleasure of dinning at Carmina's restaurant on the beach a number of times. Each wonderful memorable experiences, well cooked food with a great selection of tasty new-to-me vegetables, the service is friendly and attentive, and then there's that view of Paradise Beach making the whole meal really memorable especially when supported by Carmina's Rum Punch! Fully recommended.

We kicked off a two family Christmas and New Year in the Caribbean in the more than capable hands of Carmina and her sister Fluffy here. It really set the tone for a prefect holiday, relaxing us into the Carriacou vibe early on. The location is perfect, right on the beach opposite Sandy Island (a long snorkel, or short boat ride away and with a bar / restaurant hidden at one end). It was lovely to see that the beach between here and paradise (5 minutes walk through the surf) was covered with mangroves and sea grapes. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable with mini kitchen facilities and fans or aircon. Breakfast is in the raised bar area on the beach and can be local (saltfish), fried or porridge. You can arrange to eat lunch and dinner there as well, but there are also plenty of options next door (Off the hook, Snake Pit, or Uncle Joe's) as well as the restaurants at Paradise Beach. The number 10 minibus from the top of the road will also whisk you into the capital Hillsborough or Tyrell Bay for about £1 or they will arrange taxis to the door. The bar serves all the normal drinks but specialises in a deceptively sweet rum punch and 'snow ice' (Guinness, milk and clearly lots of rum, frozen in a clear plastic bag). We loved our stay in what felt like the real Caribbean. Thank you to Fluffy, Carmina & all the others who made it so special.

We were visiting Paradise Beach with a local resident intending to have a picnic lunch. Unfortunately the wind that day was very strong and was whipping the sand up. So we chose to move to the more sheltered area where the fishing boats are moored. The Sunset Beach Hotel has a lovely covered beach bar which was both shady & sheltered from the wind. My partner wanted a coffee & the local resident & I would have beers. The local thought that no bars on Carriacou would serve coffee. We asked, & coffee could be served. It duly came with milk in jug, sugar in a bowl & good sized cup of coffee. Whilst we were there many locals were calling in to pick up takeways (probably Rotis) but we asked if we could eat our own picnic in the bar - No problem!

They are open! I've stayed here back in August of last year and loved it. Carmina is the manager and she works via email for information and rates - carminajoseph@hotmail.com. The place is small but lovely. Rooms are spacious with fans and an A/C unit (though old, works well and I believe only one room has the A/C). It's literally on the main Paradise Beach and your breakfast is included in the rate. The patio has a hammock and tables with chairs. There's beach chairs on the same and a bench to relax on. You can grab a city bus right off of the main road and there is plenty of food locations in walking distance. None take credit cards and work in cash only. There is a local lunch spot a short walk to the right on the main road (delicious local food for cheap). Carmina takes cash only. Overall a lovely stay if you don't require a posh resort. More of a quant personal feel to this location which is perfect when you want to get away from a busy life!
